Why should we? There's plenty of (metal)bands doing that already. I myself love our theme and the path that Whispered has taken with the Japanese influences/mythology. For those who don't know, a Jikininki is a spirit of a greedy, selfish or imperious individual who is cursed after death to hunger for corpses. Their hunger can never be sated. Now, I'd be REALLY hyped for a song about The Onryo, the scariest japanese spirit in my opinion (seconded by the giant skeleton creature)-
We haven't utilized keyboards for a long time now, and we announced that about two years ago. Keyboards were mainly used for the solos anyway, and all the oriental / orchestral elements were programmed for backing tracks. So fear not.. Though this particular song isn't the most melodic / beautiful song from the upcoming new album, we just wanted to kick some ass first. ;)

Japan has heaps of great bands, Whispered is the best of the best at pulling off the eastern folk sound, I too thought they were Japanese at first listen back when they were relatively new, that's how well they do it.
Please do continue! My ears very much appreciate this new twist in your style, it adds even more unique-ness to your refined theme. Waiting patiently for more melodic songs too!

But when I first heard your demo, I was SPELLBOUND at the raw flavour merged with the natural (non-sampled) approach of the keyboards AND with soloing, something that a lot of bands with keyboards don't bother much about. But I still would love to check out your album. I am glad you guys are carrying on, no matter what! My concern is only because I am myself a keyboardist and am a big fan of you guys!
