He had a natural talent and hard training as well as a desire to be the best in the world produced results and Laiho became the best metal guitarist of his time and even a pot guitarist. I only gave CoB (among many other similar bands) a chance recently after shunning metal my whole life. This guy is my favorite composer and guitarist in the genre so far. Not necessarily the very best one (I don't play the guitar so it's hard for me to gauge skill accurately, although it's obvious that he was well above average to say the least), and I'm not a huge fan of the style he chose for most of his vocals, but I just love his riffs and solos.

The new song is amazing!!!! It's like a mix of Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood, Not my Funeral, Mask of Sanity, thrashed lost and Strungout, follow the reaper. The drums might be the best part and really compliment Alexi's riffs/songwriting. Guitar solo is melodic and technical as you'd expect from Alexi but Daniel even gets time to shine. Keyboards are pushed back in the song to accompaniment rather than being a lead instrument. It's sad how much potential this band had. Alexi still had so much more music left to give the world and judging from this song Bodom after Midnight would have had a long career. Going to have this on repeat for days 🤘
It is awesome that Alexi was able to record two new songs before his death but its equally sad that this is the last music we will hear from him. I'm still in shock. Alexi was a guitar hero in every way who inspired so many with his music. He will be remembered.

I did get to meet Alexi. After a gig on the Unholy Alliance Tour of 2006 in Cardiff, Wales. The gig was over and me and my friends and my brother were buzzing (it was incredible as before the gig even started we had met Anders of in flames, and the lamb of god boys which they took the piss out of us because I was on the phone to my brother about how I just met Anders who was my absolute idol at the time and me and my friend were walking along near the venue afterwards and I called my brother to say about Anders but we didn't realise that literally lamb of god were walking not far behind - once we noticed this, I was like "bro lamb of god are walking behind us right now" and I cant remember who (It was either mark morton or willie adler) mocked like he was on a pretend phone and said "oh uh yeah some Welsh dudes are walking in front of us right now" - this was absolutely surreal. Anyway, the Alexi part was after the gig. We were literally like on the way to get the train home and he was walking on his own towards the tour bus area and it was literally like passing him on the pavement. I asked him if we could get a photo (I never had the guts to say how much of a deep appreciation I had for him as I was only 16 and quite a quiet anxious guy and tbh still am), anyway he said sincerely "oh yeah sure I just need to go back to the bus and I'll be back out" and then we waited for like 15 mins but we literally had to get the last train home and we were just kids so as difficult as it was we did really have to go. I will always regret not hanging around for longer, because maybe I could have had a conversation with him and how much he means to me. But anyway, his music is permanent and I will always have that. Hope anyone who reads this enjoyed my little anecdote. I'm sure other people have cooler stories about actually chatting with him etc. Cheers!

I don't know much about the specifics of his health conditions, but with modern medicine and technology you'd really think they could have prevented such an early death (and Alexi's net worth was in the millions, so it's not like he couldn't afford the best care). I nearly cried watching this. What a way to end off his career. I was so happy when I saw this song was nearly 5 minutes, I knew that we were in for a treat. I was so happy but also heartbroken that we got to see Alexi perform one more guitar flip at 2:50
That nearly sent me over the edge that I had to pause and watch it again. I could hear several of their albums mixed into this one song. I could hear the melodies of Something Wild, the hatred riffs and chants of Hatebreeder, the vicious neo-classical harmonies of Follow The Reaper, the intensity and aggression of Hate Crew Deathroll, the heavy simplicity of Are You Dead Yet?, the chromatic chord progressions of Blooddrunk, the grooviness and rock of Relentless Reckless Forever, the technical heaviness of Halo Of Blood, the emotional and intense energy of I Worship Chaos, and finally, the heavy rock and roll sendoff finale of Hexed.
Rest In Peace, our dear Alexi Laiho. You will never be forgotten. It was a pleasure meeting you, even if it was only once, but I’m so happy that I was finally able to tell you that I love you and that you are my inspiration and idol that I look up to. Thank you for telling me what my favorite song was about, even if it was personal to you, and even though you couldn’t say much about it, I’m still happy that I know the overall meaning.

That scream at the beginning - holy f***.... Goosebumbs. Most epic scream in the history of heavy metal or whatever genre you wanna call it. Freddie Mercury had "Show Must Go On - Alexi Laiho had this, that's the way I see it. Just a masterpiece. Nothing can top this.

As a new gen fan from CoB I heard the band around early 2013 and then it turned to be my favorite band and Alexi Laiho was the inspiration for why I play guitar nowadays,I really wanted to see him playing on live but when he died I was really sad since my inspiration and hero died , but thanks Wildchild you'll be always a legend! 🖤

Looking at Daniel insta where one of the things alexi said to Dan was that they would continue and play to the grave ... and the fact that alexi just didnt just say and actually meant every word .. he lived by his word .. forgetting the fact that he is one of the all time guitarist ever, this man devoted his life to the music he loved and for his fans to death ... What a dedicated guy full of purpose for music and fan an honorable human being Thx you for great memories alexi ❤️

Extremely unfair of him to first produce the best Bodom song in a decade and then die. Alexi and Waltteri play together so respectfully, truly complimenting each other with the music. This is just so goddamn beautiful with the fresh new blood accompanied by talented musical masters.

To be fair, the stuff off of Hexed was pretty damn good. I consider Platitudes and Barren Words to be one of their best songs since Are You Dead Yet? That being said, I agree wholeheartedly that this new band was incredible and that this song kicked ass! Definitely the heaviest song he has made in decades and I believe he stepped up because of the expectations of millions who thought that thiswas just going to be a cover band.
Alexi didn't fade away. The man went out with a bang!

Well, I probably should have said that "Are you dead yet" is one of the the hittiest song they ever did. Yes, it's a commercial song with a kind of American sound and style, but I think it's masterclass songwriting, so extremely catchy.
Back in the beginning, if Laiho would have decided to sing clear vocals instead, I think the band would have been at least twice as popular.
