Just like Alestorm isn't 'Pirate metal'. The metal categorization is already bonkers enough. If people wanna call a band who sings most notoriously about Norse/Viking mythology 'Viking Metal' I don't see how that's any different than calling a band Brutal Technical Death Metal with prog influences. If you're going to break it down further than just "Death Metal" than there should be no limit on what people call it. Just my opinion.
Samurai metal isn't a real genre. It's like calling Amon Amarth viking metal, except viking metal is a real genre. Amon Amarth sings about vikings but they aren't true viking metal.

***** They are not Samurai Metal. They have no musical elements of samurai whatsoever, only lyrics. It's death thrash/deathcore with lyrics of samurai, that's it. It's terrible to listen to. Just spam. Normal death metal is terrible. Gotsu is death thrash metal/grindcore. It's extremely bad. I like Melodic/symphonic death metal. Whispered is more of a combination. Some power metal elements, some folk combined with japanese influence.
I heard someone declare that this was racist. Not only is it not racist, I would even go so far as to declare that the people of Japan would adore this. The Japanese are all about sharing their culture and seeing how it grows, especially because the Japanese culture itself is such a hodgepodge of Asian and European customs and imports. You guys clearly appreciate the culture, and if anyone accuses you of being racist, tell them how wrong they are.
I love this album. It's got the perfect mix of Finnish Metal and traditional oriental sounds. "Tsukiakari" is the song that I put on regardless of scenario or how I feel. Shit makes you feel like a wandering Ronin.
