    Fantastic detail. Thanks. My only note for others is not to pry off the heatsink. Twist it gently to break the seal then it lifts right off.

    I gotta say, this is by far the best disassembly video on a game console, it was very easy to follow, it took me approximately and hour and a half, to do everything you did. And I loved the silence on the video. You got youself a new subscriber. The 200th to be exactly. Thank you!!

    • @consoloscopy
      @consoloscopy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hope it goes well for you! Yeah, I coulda changed the thermal paste. I intended to but you can see the scratch in the thermal paste, that was from when I tried to pry it off. However the thermal pad was not in tact and didn't peel off easily at all. It looked good so I left it. Good practice is to swap it out though.

    the rubber pieces protruding are to ensure the vents aren't blocked. The back part for the fan has that safety "built-in" by the mandatory cables which will connect around it, ensuring fan will have room for air to flow, but the side of the exhaust needs those pieces

    38:41 the only mistake i found during the assembly process. Those rubber pieces go on the other plastic cover with the 45° mark looking down. That's because it needs to slide into the other plastic cover. The rest of the process is beyond perfect!

      @@consoloscopy Thanks, but it's the first thing I checked, it's correct. I have also tried to apply voltage with a laboratory power supply and the voltage comes on, I think that some IC or transistor must have gone, but breaking a console while it is not in use just like that sounds like a laugh on the part of Nintendo and the client. Now on top of that they don't even admit them for repair even if you pay. I have a Sony PS2 working without problem since 2003.

    Typically we would heat the heatsink slightly to loosen the thermal pad a bit and then twist it gently while it is warm.
    Or let it be on for a while before… but it takes a long time to disassemble so not ideal on Wii U

    Getting ready to do this with one I bought online. I think I'm going to start with the polish on the outside first, that way if some gets inside, I'll get it when I disassemble. Wasn't sure if that was an afterthought for you. Looked like some polish got into the vents.

    40:00 if you have to squeeze the case at the front next to the battery compartment, you inserted the small rubber piece the wrong way. The one in the front has to be inserted in the top half of the case, the one in the back on the bottom half. Take note that thery're different and only fit flush, if you put them in the right way.

I had to one ready to replace it ahead of time but this one still looked fine and didn't want to come off very easily so I left it on. Sorry about lack of clarity on that.
