I love everything about the DISSENT I purchased, except the one complaint I have after using it for a while as I can’t stand the Zeroed rear grip. The plastic latch at the back digs into the palm of my hand like crazy and gave me a blister. I swapped that out for a Magpul MOE K2+ rubber. Problem solved.
I've had 12.5in about 2 months too. I didn't even know it was coming out until it was on sale, but I had to have it. So I sold my buddy the AR-10 8.6BLK I built last year and snagged one. I slapped my new IRay TX60c and Porq Chop on it and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! It's instantly become my outdoor bump in the night rifle and if not for over penetration it would take over my 300BLK Virtus's bedside gun duties. Outside of being completely badass it's a blaring reminder that Q absolutely dropped the ball, getting beat to the market at almost half the price, with actual availability. CMMG knocked it out of the park. I use Gorilla ammo. 210gr TSX Supers and the 342gr "Mini RX8 Hellfire missile" are NASTY.
I'll never understand why Fort Scot did a TUI in 8.6. The high spin actually undermines tumbling... hence why it didn't flip until it was almost out of the box. Such a shame too... all that expensive solid copper and no performance. They should have made an expanding sub, or a supersonic to save copper mass per loaded cartridge, or sinply shoot an FMJ.
@@jeffhuntley2921 weird, haven't heard of that one. Seems to me that we should standardize into a 338 subsonic dedicated cartridge. There are so many new niche cartridges that I imagine it's hard to ammo manufacturers to develop loadings. What ever happened to 338 spectre? I think I'll stick to my 300 black for now for availability purposes.
@ I have a hard time keeping track of them. I don’t know if 338 spectre ever got a saami certified? Not sure if 8.6 blackout has even gotten saami certified? But most big ammo manufacturers won’t make ammo if there isn’t an ammo spec. Wildcats are fun if you’re a reloader. Full lead taco used to have videos on 338 spectre but ytube nuked them. He’s supposed to put some up on Rhumble if you’re interested at all. Happy shooting!
Wow - that optic was really accurate with those 8.6 subs. It looks very usable. Have you reviewed it? Is it flaky like the ATN scopes? I want to know more!
I'd love this in 7mm-08, but I don't think CMMG offers that cartridge. I just don't see the draw of 8.6 BLK when 338 Specter, 338 Ghost, 338 Razorback and others exist. 338 Federal can be loaded subsonic, too. Heck, you could even make a straightwall .338 wildcat off a .223 case, if you wanted.
Think the main advantage of 8.6 is owners and manufacturers can use 308 bolts and mags and only swap the barrel. Any that requires people to buy more new stuff is a barrier to entry.
Earlier in the video you said you had an issue with the suppressor, then you never followed up on it (or I missed it). What was the issue? Did you have a baffle strike?
Alignment issue probably due to the elite iron sierra not having a pronounced shoulder for a thin ar style barrel. Not a strike but a rub on the end cap. Sure was a quiet shooter though. But poor accuracy.
Too many variables for a solid answer. But that would be interesting to see, get a 300blk and 8.6 with the same barrel lengths. Both barely subsonic. Same suppressor design but different bores. Common suppressor knowledge would say that 300BLK would be quieter just because of the smaller exit bore- more gas stays inside the suppressor. However, the larger barrel of a 338 creates volume for gas to reduce pressure. Good video idea for someone who owns an expensive DB meter.
no ambi bolt catch/bolt release is such a miss on a new rifle. you should be able to lock it open and drop it with your trigger finger. 450 bushmaster 458 socom are what 8.6 wants to be but better... im not sure why anyone would have any interest in that caliber.
@TopShotDustin "if" I could afford it, I would rather have a Dissent chambered in Hornady's 338ARC when it gets here. I believe the 338Arc will have allot more to offer. just saying
The 338ARC literally released the day we were filming this lol. But I agree. Why have a larger ar10 subsonic 338 when you could have a more compact ar15 frame?
So you think this round works better on the larger animals from what you said. I know the dude that came up with the 8.6 kills larger African game with a short barrel. Cape buffalo was one of them. And he was danger close to the dangerous animal. So, it definitely does the job on larger animals. Probably over penetrates smaller game. Or maybe you were using crappy ammo. So many variables. My question is, how well will it work on Bigfoot? 😜🤠😏
No thanks, I'll wait for the 338 arc. The ar10 platform just isn't it for me. Also, because i have the bulpup conversion kit by a3tatical for the cmmg.
@@TopShotDustin your link that lists all of your info is fine, it's when you click on the link to the optic on your page that says your discount code is where it's broke. I literally bought a FN 545 tactical instead 😂.
Kinda useless. Unless you're hunting Kodiaks & Grizzlies with subsonics. Please wear a body camera and use a weapon camera for my new episodes of 'Faces of Death'
Thanks for watching guys!
Yes the DNT Thermal is cool, and it's only $989 with code TOPSHOT10, more info: bit.ly/m/topshotdustin

CMMG has nailed it this year with their products🎉
A digital scope seems to really helps with subsonic rounds.
I hope you get your hands on the 338 ARC version too. Looks fun 🎉

Where you got that stock from?
As stated in the video- CMMG
? Is it possible to make a 10mm with the barrel turned into a coil gun hybrid.
I hope 338 arc is more promising
Yeah I don't get why a 338 round needed to be in a 308 length case when the old 338 Spectre had already done this. Just never took off.
@TopShotDustin you took the the words right out of my mouth!
They literally announced the 338 ARC while we were filming this at the range 🤣

exactly, 450bm running 250gr super to 395gr subX hits with authority, cheaper and found almost everywhere.

Mad respect to CMMG. This is really cool. However... The rifle looks like HOT TRASH!!! 🔥 🥵 disgusting! My 2 cents!
Took me a while to get used to the color.
This CMMG make me great
Wat
This Rifle or ammo is not for the poors.
😂 On top of that, imagine blowing up your can and the manufacturer doesn't cover it because it was the fault of the rifle/ammo.

nO, NO! You are playing with fire with that kind of lack of necking. You need a necking. Neck those rounds!
