    This hunter had huge balls! How many of you would face a 3,600 lb beast such as this with only an old school bow??? And no back up hunter with a rifle?

    Amazing video,
    from the older days,
    when people understood hunting,
    and what a magnificent bow,
    100#
    this nice looking gentleman bowman doesn't look like he could handle #100, no disrespect intended,
    that's some real Howard Hill hunting technique,
    does anyone know anything about this guy, haven't heard of him before
    Thanx

      He was a good friend of Fred Bear of Bear Archery. That's why he uses a custom 100 pound Bear Super Kodiak recurve bow.

    I'm not saying I would ever hunt a rhino but I will say the truth.
    This video was filmed in 1971. The Angola 🇦🇴 Civil War started in 1975 and started by communists (thanks commies) and when the country became too violent for tourists and people stopped going there poaching escalated. They poached black and white rhinos to extinction and lions and elephants are still being poached there. On top of that, the government of Angola is strict on travel, despite how tourism can boost their economy and therefore help their wildlife.

    as an avid hunter I think trophy hunting is dumb as fuck. If you- the one who is doing the killing, are not going to eat it, why would you kill an animal to collect dust as a mount somewhere on the wall.

    • @neurodoc4u
      @neurodoc4u ปีที่แล้ว

      The meat in these type of hunts is always distributed to nearby villages. In turn, the villagers kept poachers out. They often also got a part of the hunter's fee.

      They weren't endangered then, and only became endangered because of poaching. That only happened because the hunting stopped. Big difference.

      Rhino's are not endangered because of trophy hunters. Rhino's are endangered because of illegal poachers who take the horns to sell to China etc and leave the meat to rot. Trophy hunters have almost zero negative effect on game populations. Poachers are unchecked and run rampant through herds and will wipe out an entire herd to get two or three good ones. trophy hunters take one selected animal and give the meat to the local villages who are often hungry for the protein. Not to mention the money they put in to the economy. Thousands of dollars. You should learn more about how game conservation works and why hunting is necessary in many areas.

      I hunt Red deer with a bow and have missed once when my arrow hit a twig in flight. All others have been killed under 15 meters with one arrow. Missing a Rhino he should hang up his hunting boots. The lion he took was unsporting also. Baiting and shooting from a vehicle is not fair chase.

    • @orangpendek1024

      There's a LOT of difference between poaching and LEGAL hunting! Wildlife biologists are the ones who decide what and how much to hunt of any animal. If it's endangered, the hunting is stopped. Most species will overpopulate if not controlled.

    • @orangpendek1024
      @orangpendek1024 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      ***** More pronghorns now than 100 years ago. Bison were NOT killed off by modern hunters. They were slaughtered mostly because the government wanted to starve the Indians. Also, it was ranchers who saved what there are left of them. The whitetail deer is by far the most hunted game animal in the US and there are 100 times more whitetails now than in the 30s. The main threat to wildlife in the US is too many people and too many roads and cars.

    • @orangpendek1024
      @orangpendek1024 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hunting is part of the culture in many areas. If you grew up in a filthy city, drugs and crime are your culture. I personally have no interest in going to Africa or anywhere else to hunt. I hunt and fish for food, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the woods and the challenge. It's entirely possible even today to avoid buying any meat by hunting and fishing. With a garden, you can avoid buying vegetables. The fact is city life kills more wildlife than living in a rural area and hunting and fishing.

      pgiuser hunters are important to control game populations. also hunters put a lot of money towards conservation through purchasing licenses and guns and ammo. plus hunters mostly are out to take meat home for their families.
