Just had this today. It's true that the prep is the worst part of the procedure. The prep made me want to throw up and gave me stomach pains. Not to mention the burning and irritation on my butthole. But it's a minor inconvenience for a potentially life-saving procedure. I got sedated and fell asleep throughout the procedure, and only woke up in the recovery room about an hour later. I felt no pain, only dizziness and some nausea a few hours after. Get a colonoscopy guys before it's too late!
I had a colonoscopy done a week ago..the preparation is terrible ..lots of laxatives and liquids for 24 hours.. The procedure was easier than I thought..I refused to be sedated. My colon was super clean and no polyps or else .thank God .
I had this procedure done and it almost killed me. My doctor damaged my spleen while retracting the camera. I bleed internally for hours, after 8 units of blood they decided to take me in for a exploration operation , that’s when they found the damage they did. I was very weak from being low on blood and my heart working so hard for so long I had a heart attack on the table and my kidneys shut down. After they removed my spleen to stop the bleeding and 7 weeks in the hospital trying to get my strength back they sent me home, after 3 months of home care I am about 50 percent of what I used to be. Thank you Kaiser. This will be my last colonoscopy, I am not afraid of cancer anymore.

Just had ine yesterday. The worst part is the prep. It is so important to do the prep correctly. As you take the prep luquid , you can see the bowel movements getting very watery, then clear, then a bright yellow. The procedure itself was A breeze.
I once had to go for a colonoscopy with an extremely serious German physician. After explaining the procedure, he asked me if I had any questions. I asked him if he would be buying me dinner before, or breakfast after. He did not laugh.
My sister in law passed away almost a year ago, with colon cancer (stage 4). She never had a colonoscopy, she said she did it need it. The preparation is the worst, the procedure is a painless. Well worth it, if you want to live a long life.
Having been subjected to this several times now, I think this was a very good video, covering all aspects, and should help to reassure anyone due to have one. These things are never “exciting” or whatever the word is, but it is soon over with. Mine saved my life. I lost a lot of blood suddenly, and my dr sent me straight away for this procedure, and they found what turned out to be early stage cancerous Polyps. . I go every three years for check ups now. But the discomfort lasting perhaps 30mins is nothing when it saves your life. So please, anyone who watched this and felt they couldn’t go through with one...Please go! It’s not even as bad as going to the dentist ! And is a life saver Thankyou to the folks who made such an interesting and powerful video. Anybody watching this scared to have this done, hear me on this: it’s not bad at all! The prep the day before is a pain because all you can have is clear liquids and the prep I had included a large bottle of lemon lime Gatorade filled with an entire bottle of Miralax powder. Depending on your diet, more than likely you’ll have some diarrhea the first 2-3 times, then just yellow liquid afterwards. But for the procedure itself, do not fear! I slipped on my gown, technician inserted an IV of saline, the anesthesiologist asked me a few questions, went into the procedure room, asked to turn to my side, the anesthesiologist inserted something in the IV drip, a minute later I joked “hey I feel a little sleepy”, then some 30 minutes later I woke up sleepy, but totally alert, no pain in my butt, and told all was well and released gouging on two slices of Costco pizza.

Had this procedure carried out recently & I also had a camera down my throat to check for ulcer's. TBH, I was nervous & worried beforehand. But I cannot stress enough it's a doddle & I never felt a thing. Only a small bit of pressure in my tummy & that's because of the air that's pumped into your colon. Even if they find polyps they are quite tiny & may look big on screen to you, but remember there magnified & their no feeling if their removed by the Doctor. So guys there's no need to worry, just relax yourself & totally put yourself at ease while it being done. When it's all over you'll be served with refreshments & given time to settle before going home. Best of luck to you all guys!
I just had a colonoscopy this morning and I can tell you the worst part was taking the prep the day before. I did not have any sedation or gas and air. I had slight discomfort but nothing major. This was the second time i have had one which i now have every 2 years due to a family genetic risk factor. My advice is if you have to have it done don't worry it was all over in about 30 mins.
@@raleighthomas3079 no but the med makes you so relaxed that many do fall asleep. That's what the nurse told me. You won't remember a thing. The 2 day prep: no underwear or pants and stay super close to a toilet. If you don't want accidents that you can't imagine, don't leave the bedroom/bathroom area.
Honestly, the worse part of this procedure was the laxatives beforehand. The actual colonoscopy was fine, I had gas & air during it. The meds carrying it out were great.
I had my colonoscopy done but my doctor didn't gave me any sedative. It took him approx 45 min. I was having grade 3 thrombosed internal haemorrhoids and that is reason i felt so much rectal pain during the procedure otherwise it's not so painful, you just feel bloating and urge to go to toilet because of the air. But it is totally safe and is considered the gold standard.
It was the second most painful experience of my life, after kidney stones. I was awake during the procedure. They had trouble locating the entrance to the small intestine, took 40 min. Luckily I was int he clear, no cancer or anything else, but I did end up with more prolapse after.
Just got finished mine yesterday at 10 Green St. Baltimore VA hospital. Piece of cake... I was longer in an MVA trying to renew my driving license... In and out in the VA hospital in less than 45min. No pain, stayed awake (with conscious sedation) the whole time and actually comment on doctor's procedures from info learned on this video, I told him exactly where he was in my colon....he said i must've done my homework... Do the prep to the letter and all will go well. Learn to enjoy the prep solution, the prep is your friend... HC Clark-ENC U.S. Navy Retired CPO (1973-1993) Baltimore, Md.
The twilight sedation is fine. It has way less recovery sickness than general anesthesia. I was sort of aware of some talking and tugging, but didn't really feel anything or care, kind of like when you catch yourself nodding off during a movie. It only takes like 20min.
In Norway where I live, they never sedate you during colonoscopies unless you're really struggling hard. I'm having mine in 3 days and i'm terrified. I spoke to my doctor about getting sedation but he refused. I also had an endoscopy about a year ago which was absolutely horrifying, had a straight up anxiety attack during the procedure because the discomfort I felt was unreal. All of you are so lucky to be sedated trust me..
having had this done, I can tell you the worst thing about it was drinking a gallon of that horrible tasting liquid..ug..worst tasting stuff ever..it was a marathon I tell ya..a marathon..I had about 15 glasses and counted down as I went..when I got to the last five I was in the home stretch..then I finally got to the last one and drank that then went to bed..I was tired and dehydrated a little bit seeing as that stuff really cleans you out..then I couldn't eat anything for another 12-15 hours..but water..thank heavens for that..the procedure was not that bad.
I have gotten 5 done so far and it's not scary at all. I'm 14 years old and I have sever chrohns disease. Well rn I'm back in the hospital (3 weeks) and they don't know if I have chrohns or colitis. But I had chrohns for a year and 8 months. It's been tough but this procedure is nothing I promise. The doctors are nice and everyone is there to calm you down and make you feel less scared. I get a slushee every time after I wake up . Ok I'm not going to lie, the preparation sucks. You can't eat for two days and you drink a whole bunch bowl in 3 hours. I also drink it with Gatorade (it's what they suggest) and now I hate Gatorade but the procedure it's self does not hurt and I never feel any cramps or pain after the procedure.
Moonlight Grande watch this video hope it helps you. It's an autoimmune disease, eat healthy organic food and exercise daily and run in the sun. It will help you and whatever you do don't stress. Stress causes the issue to become worse, even thinking about it. Enjoy life!
“mild” cramping lol. You can actually ask to have this done without sedation! I would describe it as feeling like *intense* cramping. It’s nice to have no grogginess when done, though. I’m interested in how the colonoscope works. Like, how does it remember to stay curved in the right places as it continues through the colon?
I have to get one done in three days since a doctor discovered I have polyps. I went to him saying I had hemorrhoids. I am yet to start the prep and I am really scared. I also have no one to go with me so I hope my Uber guy gets me home safe after. Sucks!!
It would probably be a lot less terrifying if they didn't design the scope to look like a screaming robotic anus caterpillar that barfs tools at your polyps.
For my last one they used nitrogen instead of just air. It was absorbed so I did not get the fun of the "musical" after effects. I liked that way better than having to expel the extra air myself.
Here in Australia when I had 9ne, the sedition ment I didn't remember the procedure at all. The nurse simply woke and there was no discomfort at all and was able to go straight back into my regular diet. The cleaning out the night before is the worst part and not that bad. Just be near a toilet for that
I just had gastroscopy & colonoscopy at once. I think the preparation is not that bad, and I was under sedation so I can’t remember anything throughout the process. It’s not that difficult. I did this procedure at Singapore. I have few symptoms like loose watery stool, urge to use the restroom, feeling like my bowel doesn’t empty fully.
Got this done just an hour ago. I'm only 34 but they found a polyp. I'm glad I went and had it removed. Although it was benign I am glad it is out now and won't have the chance to turn malignant if it had the potential.
Excellent narration followed by write-up in the background . First class delineation of the entire procedure of colonoscopy in an exhaustive manner and extremely lucid style. Well done !
How is this colonoscopy instrument cleansed and sterilized? There’s a camera, suction, water hose, tweezers and cutting devices, etc. all in this main device. When I had my procedure there were lots of ppl who were there to have the same thing done. So how does this work with back to back colonoscopies and maintaining a sterile instrument for each patient?
WAIT A SECOND!! You can have this procedure done without being knocked out?! I want to get one done, but I've put it off, cause I dont like the idea of being knocked out for anything. Plus I've only been in a hospital once as a kid, for removal of my tonsils and that was 54 years ago. Hospitals scare the crap out of me. I will have to look into this non-knocked out procedure. Thankx for the video!!
I would suggest you get over your fear of being "knocked out" and have the procedure done under anesthesia. It can be very painful. And if you are awake, even slightly sedated, they won't be able to do the entire colon because that would be much to painful. Then, when you tell them it is too painful and they should stop. They will stop. Then they will determine if they need to examine more of your colon and then they will need to "knock you out." So, man up and get it done with anesthesia.
Thanks for the information, I have been put forward for this next year. I was told I will be sedated during the procedure, but a couple my friends had it done and said they were awake. The way it curls around inside looks scary but its best to know what is wrong.
How can anyone go through this? Back in my day doctor came to your house. He knew what was wrong. One shot and all pain gone. No hospital know horrible tests. A diet prescription was given and all was good. No need of a specialist. The good old days.
Amazing how this video pops up in my you tube feed the day after I had one. Don't tell me Google isn't watching you 24 hrs/day. Orwell was just off by a few years.
Having the fear and anxiety of unknown is understandable. Talk to your physician to elevate all you worries. The chance of having any complications from the procedure is very minimal, and the benefits of colonoscopy outweigh any risk big time.
I'm 18 been dealing with ulcerative colitis since 6. Colon cancer diagnosis on may 26, 2017. Today I got my colon removed and a temporary ileostomy bag.
I was having stomach discomforts and tried to avoid the colonoscopy b getting every other possible conceivable test done but in the end after they were all done, I had no choice but to get the colonoscopy about 4 months later. They removed a polyp. The prep drinking was nothing, 250ML of picoprep, theevening before and then 1 litre of something else in the morning of the procedure. and then another 250 mil of Picoprep 4 hours before procedure. All the drinks I had to take were not in the slightest bit awful tasting. The whole thing other than being a bit hungry was a nothing event. in the end, I probably got better just knowing that I dont have weird stuff happening in my head wondering what's going on. Get it done! It's not worth the head stress! ..
Very informative video about this procedure. I'm having one done in a few days but I'm having a general sedation. This will be my second one in twelve years.
I had advanced stage 3 colan cancer. 45 percent survivor . That was 15 years ago i still have a lot of problems. Thay removed 5 sentameater of my rectum
I'm having my fourth (I think) colonoscopy in September. I had 2 over ten years ago due to rectal bleeding from an unknown source. Then last year I had a positive Cologuard test, so another colonoscopy. They found 7 polyps and a lipoma. Luckly, none were cancerous, but I have to have a repeat to see if the polyps come back. The first one I got to watch. The second one I also had a endoscopy. So they gave me Versed. The last one they knocked me out because I have heart problems and COPD. I'm probably gonna be knocked out again for the up coming procedure. The worse part of the colonoscopy? The prep you have to do the day before.
Did my first one today. Prep was tiring, but procedure itself is easy and painless under sedation, and I felt immediately better afterwards. Nothing like the cystoscopy I did a couple years back haha.
I'll Pray for u mum Samiul!! We don't know 1 another but, 9 yrs ago, my mother went up to the local hospital 4 days straight, complaining of chest pains, and she told me on the last hospital visit, 'I've never felt sooo sick in my 70 years Pete!!😕and she was only seen by a nurse EVERY SINGLE time she went to the hospital!! AND the nurse told her she 'Just had indigestion!!😡!!' On the 5th day, or at 2am she rang my sister to drive her to the hospital, as she knew she was too sick too drive to the hospital herself!! AND the Local Dr WAS on duty at the hospital on that occasion!! She was hooking mum up to a heart monitor and Mum crashed!! AND, even though the Dr worked on her, for over 20 minutes, when my sister, who'd ran off in sheer terror, walked back into the hospital, the Dr walked out with a grim and sad face..And told my sister she 'Did everything she could have done!!' Well!! Rubbish! When mum went to the hospital on those 1st 4 occasions!! the Dr was only a 5 minute walk away from the hospital!! Or literally less than 1 minute by car!! I'm not much good at maths!! But 4xs 24 hrs to the day, meant her Dr had nearly 100 hrs to have saved my poor old mother!! AND even though we, her family tried to take legal action!??? You'll never beat a Dr!! Because OTHER Drs blatantly lie!! AND cover their backsides!! I'm still, and I always will he heartbroken!! Because mum's Dr literally, killed my mother!! AND she should have been charged with Malpractice and manslaughter!! But!!!! I'll gladly say A prayer for your own mother!! AND I hope and Pray she'll be just fine!!
You can get a colonoscopy without being sedated. I had mine this way eight years ago at age 56. It feels like really bad gas --not painless, but certainly endurable. However, I was clean. If you really have the disease, I'm told the pain can be MUCH worse.
There's a 72" colon cleaning 'snake' avail ble. This is inserted into the rectum and slowly pushed the full way into the colon. Water pressure from shower head fitting rotates outer edges of the snake which expands the brush section and rotates. The soft brushes and water jets clean the whole of the colon as its slowly removed. I removed a bucket full of undigested food and clogged faeces during this process. It's far better than the pre regular colon irrigation as the snake cleans the whole length of the colon. Once the snake hits the 90degree bend going into the large colon it has to be rotated whilst pushing to get it around the bend. Once done a couple of times it's now no problem. It's around 30mm diameter so fills the colon completely, it's actually even a nice feeling with the full 72" inserted..
Highly recommended. If you have any suspicion, go and make it. If it’s nothing serious then you’ll be enjoying life without worries, if there’s something more serious you’ll be able to take measures sooner which is always better. I did it under anesthesia, felt absolutely nothing. The preparation was a bit tough but not a big deal.
I had my first Colonoscopy two years ago. Because my Gastroenterologist thought that something was wrong with my colon and intestines. And the prep stuff tastes horrible!
Someone tell me if this procedure is painless and if you can feel something moving in your intestines... please, I need an answer, I'm terrified of this test. Can these movements of the device be felt inside?
@Lee Wright That's so true! And *I listened to organ music* on TH-cam while I was waiting to drift off to sleep before the procedure. Thank goodness they gave me anesthesia. Surgery of any kind scares me out of my wits.
I just had my 1st Colonoscopy at 55. I i i was Petrified of the PROPOFOL. My whole procedure only took about 16 minutes. It will Knock you out in 3 seconds. It’s not the same Anesthesia as major surgery.
Just had this done yesterday an removed a hemorroid with banding man i can feel the pressure in my anus from the banding but im praying no more hemorroids ever
First time I had one done I woke up giggling like a kid. The nurse was pushing on my abdomen and I was farting. Of course they do that to push the air out that is blow into your rectum to open it up more.
The sensitivity of capsule endoscopy is lower than the sensitivity of colonoscopy for detecting colonic polyps and adenomas. Also, the pill camera (capsule) cannot remove polyps if any are detected.
I just had it today And trust me i just felt a little discomfort and the pain was bearable For all those who are recommended by doctors please go for it there is no need to worry
Can a ultrasound detect colon cancer please reply my doctor suggested me ultrasound not colonoscopy and my ultrasound report is good bilut blood in my stool is not going
my husband has a large polyp that is needed to be removed. He already has had two small ones removed successfully-but specialist told him-another specialist will be needed who has the ability and tools, etc; to remove this larger polyp. Can you tell me how they do a large polyp removal? They told my husband(he is a VA vet and treated there.) that he will have to be totally sedated for large polyp removal!
i had mine under general anesthesia. it was painless. they found a huge tumor. 13 months later i am recovering from final surgery, outstanding prognosis for the future. i avoided routine colonoscopies. that was a mistake.
so when they take the polyps out they have to take out the little long pipe and then go back in again and get another polyp and then back out and go back in if I'm not correct can somebody explain..
Just had the procedure. Fell asleep and woke up (all within an hour, I even wondered if they did anything). Afterwards, I was given a ham sandwich and apple juice (sooo good) .. then my hubby picked me up. The solution you must drink is bearable but unbearable was not being allowed to eat for close to 24hrs... in my case
What happened to me after colonoscopy: I wake up and tell the nurse my stomach hurts. She says "It's the air we pumped in there, go ahead and let it out." 15 minutes later, I'm on my knees and elbows on the bed farting like a trucker that eats nothing but chili. Then, not having heard the conversation between me and the nurse, my husband walked around the corner and starts laughing so hard he couldn't talk. Overall it was a pretty entertaining experience. And yay, no pollops. I'm still farting 6 months later.....just kidding 😂😂😂😂 the worst part was the bowel prep, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HOUSE after you start the process....seriously.
I hated the prep solution so much I asked someone (who is old enough to remember) what castor oil tasted like because I have never tasted it. It's yucky, I am sure, but the prep solution probably tastes worse than castor oil. I can't imagine ANYTHING tasting as bad as the prep. Ugh, the horrors. This was last Tuesday, Nov. 20. I have diverticulitis by the way.
Thank goodness it's only diverticulitis and not cancer! BTW I listened to organ music on TH-cam while I was waiting to drift off from the anesthesia. *Music (especially FOREST GREEN) is the best medicine!*
Why does everyone give us truckers such a hard time? Lol. We're not all the stereotypical version you've seen in the movies your entire life. That was funny, though.
Do not leave your bedroom, later do not leave the bathroom. You will not be able to stop the frequent explosions. Also don't wear underwear. Just a short gown that won't get saturated by accidents. Gross!
Colonoscopy procedure is the easy part. The difficult part is the pre colonoscopy preparation. The horrible, horrible laxative drink and that too around a litre to take the night before and all the running to and from the toilet all night evacuating your bowels until there is nothing, not a scrap of faecal matter left in your. Colon. That was horrible!
And this is where my insomnia has led me tonight.
…and me too! SMH
From here on out, it is "you and colonoscopy" for bedtime stories. Man. Internet is deep.
same for me

There are good videos to help relieve the fears of Colonoscopies, then there are great ones. Loved this one!
Does it hurt
No, you are asleep, when you wake up its done.
Ashley Slayer you are NOT ASLEEP, you just can’t REMEMBER ANYTHING FROM THE PROCEDURE.
How did the gas and air make you feel?
Is there a specific age of when they can perform it?
Probably what I will opt for. Last time I did surgery I had the dry heaves! It was the worst experience.
I just got this and an Endoscopy done today. They put me to sleep for both! Very easy and not scary.
Sedation routine in Australia
I would have went to another doctor
I'm so sorry! In the US it's always done under anesthesia unless you request otherwise.
Would refuse procedure without sedation,in the US the doctors use propofal for sedation, excellent stuff,no side effects.Good luck, good health to you.
having had this done, I can tell you the worst thing about it was drinking a gallon of that horrible tasting liquid..ug..worst tasting stuff ever..it was a marathon I tell ya..a marathon..I had about 15 glasses and counted down as I went..when I got to the last five I was in the home stretch..then I finally got to the last one and drank that then went to bed..I was tired and dehydrated a little bit seeing as that stuff really cleans you out..then I couldn't eat anything for another 12-15 hours..but water..thank heavens for that..the procedure was not that bad.
whos watching this before he doing it..
Me! Lol
I hope you're the patient not the doctor
I had my done last week, feel a bit strange being shaft but a male doctor and five nurses are watching!

Let me tell you something. I had a colonoscopy done on me and I didn’t feel a thing. They put me to sleep and next thing you know, it was over.
I wished I’d watched this before I had my colonoscopy procedure. GREAT VIDEO 👌🏾

I have done 2 colonoscopy and 1 endoscopy... I'm suffering from crohn's disease 😢😥.
Dominique I've had at least 10 to 11 with crohns as well. Aren't we special! :0 (sarcasm)
Can my soul leave my body while this is happening and then come back when im in my car?
Right? 😂
Lmfao that would be nice 👌
After that your soul is gone.
I have to get one done in three days since a doctor discovered I have polyps. I went to him saying I had hemorrhoids. I am yet to start the prep and I am really scared. I also have no one to go with me so I hope my Uber guy gets me home safe after. Sucks!!
Victor Musau
Hope it went well Victor! I had a couple performed and no problems thus far.
It would probably be a lot less terrifying if they didn't design the scope to look like a screaming robotic anus caterpillar that barfs tools at your polyps.
lol
😂😂 when I saw that I said what the? Ouch!
oh my god that is hysterical XD

For my last one they used nitrogen instead of just air. It was absorbed so I did not get the fun of the "musical" after effects. I liked that way better than having to expel the extra air myself.
I didn't do the prep correctly the 1st time. I had to have the procedure twice. But i rather go thru it than Colon Cancer
I just had my first one, they put me to sleep so I did not feel anything. Everything went well.
That's the best thing to do
Here in Australia when I had 9ne, the sedition ment I didn't remember the procedure at all.
At the end, you let the most humongous fart of your life! Everyone giggles and then, you go home.... $1500.00 poorer.
I live in Canada. I only had to pay for transportation and prep meds.
Damn that's expensive.....in India it only costs under 100 dollars...or at least where I'm about to go..to the hospital
But if you are afraid of this kind of stuff, then you are not a coward.
I’m from uk 🇬🇧 so I don’t have to pay
1500 dollars!. Guess my polyps have a new forever home.
I actually had one WITHOUT anesthesia. I wouldn't recommend it!!! It felt like a VW going up my ass... the worst. Don't even THINK about it...

Lmao
Same here ... never again ... I thought I was going to die ... correction ... I wanted to die ...
VW means??
I’m getting one soon I’m too scared to go under in such a weird environment I like to be aware all the time
Excellent narration followed by write-up in the background . First class delineation of the entire procedure of colonoscopy in an exhaustive manner and extremely lucid style. Well done !
i have a colonoscopy tomorrow and wanted to know what is going to happen to me tomorrow! thank you for calming my fears
Tomorrow is long gone😂R u still alive?
everything will be good
Me too .
How is this colonoscopy instrument cleansed and sterilized? There’s a camera, suction, water hose, tweezers and cutting devices, etc. all in this main device. When I had my procedure there were lots of ppl who were there to have the same thing done. So how does this work with back to back colonoscopies and maintaining a sterile instrument for each patient?
can anyone tell me what kind of program should i use to do a video like that? i need it for a school project. thank you :]
Hell if I know😰

Why what happened?

Can the footage from my colonoscopy be uploaded to Facebook ??
Just had mine. The prep was horrible. They found a polyp and took some biopsies. Waiting on the results.
I am 14 and have to get both scopes done because I have crohn's disease. I'm so scared.
Having the fear and anxiety of unknown is understandable. Talk to your physician to elevate all you worries. The chance of having any complications from the procedure is very minimal, and the benefits of colonoscopy outweigh any risk big time.
Okay, thanks.

dont worry i have it too im on remission im 14
I'm 18 been dealing with ulcerative colitis since 6. Colon cancer diagnosis on may 26, 2017. Today I got my colon removed and a temporary ileostomy bag.
I have one tomorrow in the afternoon... Began the prep today, it feels like I'm pooping lava and it hurts like hell... Hope I have nothing serious
It's not worth the head stress! ..
Thanks Boz mine due tomorrow Flinders Private, doing the prep now.
Very informative video about this procedure. I'm having one done in a few days but I'm having a general sedation. This will be my second one in twelve years.
I recommend getting the procedure , it might save your life ...
Pray for my mom
Nice feeling?
I'm 15 but I'm so scared of this test cause I never did this plz pray for me
Tell them to make you sleep and after you wake up you won't feel shit
Highly recommended. If you have any suspicion, go and make it. If it’s nothing serious then you’ll be enjoying life without worries, if there’s something more serious you’ll be able to take measures sooner which is always better.
I did it under anesthesia, felt absolutely nothing. The preparation was a bit tough but not a big deal.
The build up of tension before the reveal at 0:58 was masterfully done. Keep up the good work.

This is a very good guide for my Colonoscopy!
I had my first Colonoscopy two years ago. Because my Gastroenterologist thought that something was wrong with my colon and intestines. And the prep stuff tastes horrible!
I had it done and it's exactly as defined in the video. I watched it throughout as well. Excellent
The whole thing felt like a 5 minute nap. I didnt feel a single thing during the endoscopy for my gullet and colon. Hahahh. So relax and dont worry!
Someone tell me if this procedure is painless and if you can feel something moving in your intestines... please, I need an answer, I'm terrified of this test. Can these movements of the device be felt inside?
How you could feel anything when sedated?
Don't fear the scope. The bowel prep is way more traumatic.
I'm still scared. But less so after this video. Thank you.
@Lee Wright That's so true! And *I listened to organ music* on TH-cam while I was waiting to drift off to sleep before the procedure. Thank goodness they gave me anesthesia. Surgery of any kind scares me out of my wits.
@Lee Wright I have diverticulitis, not cancer, thank goodness!
I just had my 1st Colonoscopy at 55. I i i was Petrified of the PROPOFOL. My whole procedure only took about 16 minutes. It will Knock you out in 3 seconds. It’s not the same Anesthesia as major surgery.
I had my 1st procedure done today wuth 1 polyp removed. What is the cloudy fluid left after I use the restroom? It is similar to discharge.
How are you now
I am literally in the waiting room now to have this procedure done! 😮
how was it
And how was it??
So how was it?
Just had this done yesterday an removed a hemorroid with banding man i can feel the pressure in my anus from the banding but im praying no more hemorroids ever
First time I had one done I woke up giggling like a kid. The nurse was pushing on my abdomen and I was farting. Of course they do that to push the air out that is blow into your rectum to open it up more.
Omaiga how embarrassing
I want to learn how to do this as a future medical student.
The procedure itself is a breeze. The prep is living hell.
The prep?
I feel you brother had my third colonoscopy last Saturday, two of the previous both prep and procedure were hell, this time the gave me sedative☺🙂
I’m getting mine done in 3 hours this prep is hell I’m wondering how I’m going to make it to the Doctor it’s 40 min away 😳
I just had it and I did't feel anything. They put me to sleep and I don't remember anything.
10 more year Im going to have the next colonoscopy.
The preparation is the worst part. The procedure has always been painless for me. I had the procedure 4 or 5 times. So many I’ve lost count
Very informative. I had one done 10 years ago and it's time for another. The prep is no fun but the procedure is easy.
Why not use the pill camera? It is easy and not painful. You can exam the whole gi tract too
The sensitivity of capsule endoscopy is lower than the sensitivity of colonoscopy for detecting colonic polyps and adenomas. Also, the pill camera (capsule) cannot remove polyps if any are detected.
You and Colonoscopy it is still better than people not doing it due to the fear of pain, right?
Explanation is about disadvantages of the capsule endoscopy procedure. One has to consider pros and cons and decide himself.
Because you can not remove polyps the can turn cancerous or do biopies. As well as if you are having issues the pill can't fix a bleed.
Thanks for the info. I am getting one done tomorrow so the comments were helpful
How are you now Mervin?
I presume the doctor will advise patients to avoid eating tacos just prior to the procedure, correct?
I just had it today
And trust me i just felt a little discomfort and the pain was bearable
For all those who are recommended by doctors please go for it there is no need to worry
Can a ultrasound detect colon cancer please reply my doctor suggested me ultrasound not colonoscopy and my ultrasound report is good bilut blood in my stool is not going
This maybe a weird question but is that camera gadget used on everyone or is it disposable? Just wondering how clean it is?!
my husband has a large polyp that is needed to be removed.
Here in India, we got clinics where patient is also given another monitor to see his/her inside while doctor sees it in another monitor.
so when they take the polyps out they have to take out the little long pipe and then go back in again and get another polyp and then back out and go back in if I'm not correct can somebody explain..
Just had the procedure. Fell asleep and woke up (all within an hour, I even wondered if they did anything). Afterwards, I was given a ham sandwich and apple juice (sooo good) .. then my hubby picked me up. The solution you must drink is bearable but unbearable was not being allowed to eat for close to 24hrs... in my case
Calliades how many hour the procedure
Fun fact: The colonoscopes are re-used. You didnt actually think they opened up a brand spanking new one out of the box for you.. ..did you?
I know disturbing and disgusting 😁
For The price everyone pays, it better be brand new
Geeeezuz! I hope they used alcohol....... a LOT of alcohol!
I have panic attacks so I want anesthesia. 30 minutes to an hour is a long time to lay there waiting for a panic attack.
Gross!
Watching someone's colonoscopy in TV is still better than Kardashians
...unless you are the one having it done!
My grandmas going threw this 😓 she’s not nervous but I M bc I love her sm!
Will keep her in prayers 🙏
This is very routine for most of us. If you are close by, maybe you can visit her after and bring her something to eat that she likes 👍🏽
Awww
Mine too:(
Hope it went well for G ma
Colonoscopy procedure is the easy part. The difficult part is the pre colonoscopy preparation. The horrible, horrible laxative drink and that too around a litre to take the night before and all the running to and from the toilet all night evacuating your bowels until there is nothing, not a scrap of faecal matter left in your. Colon. That was horrible!
Are at home when you have to drink that stuff how hell do you drive yourself to the Hospital then
I had mine done today. I had to drink the whole gallon. Never leave the bathroom!
