    This is a short clip of a heavily powered CSX mixed freight train symboled Cue 316, seen here climbing the steep grades of CSX's formidable Mountain Sub deep in the hills of northern WV. Screenshot taken at one of the highest peaks on the Mountain Sub in Terra Alta WV as the "mighty GEs" scream in notch-8!

    Clearly a power move, it sounded like only the leading three or four were actually running. Probably transferring locos from one yard to another.
    Funny, all those engines and it still maintains CSX' tradition of being underpowered! 😀

    • @ALPTrainVideos
      @ALPTrainVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep. I don't think they're allowed to turn on one of the units in transit. The E3 was definitely heading back to Philly, the two sets of geeps were probably headed back to Brunswick.

    Great video but your title should say descends steep grade in DB 8 grade those engines were in dynamic braking . You can here the wine of the fan motors as they pass by and only the first 4 were on line the rest were dead in tow sorry for being captain literal but all in all a awesome video 👍

      @ALPTrainVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They were just kicking in for the decent. Were I was standing is the very top of the grade then the sharp ride down starts lol.

    Would have been a better video if it was recorded away from a grade crossing so the train is unlikely to sound it's horn. Plus clanging of the crossing bells is distracting.
    Ideal video would be just the sound of the prime movers and moving rail cars, no horn, no bell, nothing else.

      Yeah 4 of these engines are going to comberland for distribution, the SS40E3 was slickly getting dropped for a ride back to conrail shares assets.

      Mike this freight was mostly empty, rather short too. But surprised it took the amount of tractive effect it did to reach the sommite.
