I have found some as well and they often look exactly like their stone counterparts. I'm thinking of posting mostly photos of my finds vs videos but thought I might start creating comparison videos to show folks how similar (some almost identical) these pieces are. I don't think it's a coincidence at all.
The wood effigies blow my mind too. I think you're right about the clay, but I also considered other coverings like pine tar resin or plaster (which had clay also) that would have helped keep them from rotting. I have also seen bark from trees that were once carved fall off and look like the effigies on just the inside face. Wild stuff, like it is frozen in time
I have found some really cool ones in the River! It’s hard to believe they have survived this long! I wash them and dry them and seal them with watered down wood glue. It prevents it from cracking, just don’t let them dry too long only a few days.
Great tips thank you. I have a few wooden effigies that I’m not sure what to do with-my biggest concern is the wooden bow that I just have sitting in the cardboard box. It’s turning to dust
@@FacesintheStone I have one too! I do half wood glue with half water. Apply 2-3 coats, or as many as you want. The more you put on the more shiny it will be. I apply it with a sponge paint brush and if there are spots that it builds up, then take a regular dry paint brush and just go over it a few times, it will smooth it out.
Wow, the wooden pieces are so cool, not something i topically find in MA. But once in a while, i do. Usually chard and found in clay mud . Sometimes a whole fire pit ! The wood preserves well out of the oxygen ! Nice Video ! 👍

Thank you! Great info too
Love it! Are the wood or stone effigies worth anything or are they still just pareidolia to the experts?
They’re worth more than a paper dollar I’ll tell you that. We don’t sell them, and we actively discourage the selling or profit from any of this art.
Thanks for the nice share 👍
Thanks for the visit! I Love your Work!
Sweet video and channel! Liking and subbing! You'll be at 2k in no time!
