    So glad you mentioned the tailbone issue with the Leap V2. I lost weight over the last couple of years and now I don't have much rear padding. I notice it the most in the car where my tailbone region gets fatigued after 30 mins or so. This would likely make the Leap with the thin seat a problem for me. Thanks for pointing out all the little details like that!

      @@btodtv Hi, you mention that the padding in the Amia is thicker than the leap. Do you feel that the BTOD refurbished process where you add foam, solves this issue. I'm trying to decide between the two right now. I've only sat on a leap before, and although the chair was nice, I did wish it had a thicker foam bottom. Right now leaning towards Amia, but I havne't test drove it.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      When we add high density foam for the refurbishing process, it is to make it feel similar to a new chair. Over time the seat pad will compress some and this helps to rejuvenate it for the next 10+ years. I believe the Amia offers a deeper feel for the tailbone region which solved my issue that happened when using the Leap daily. Hopefully this helps. -GK

    Thanks so much to BTOD for their reviews and videos ... they have been helpful as i still navigate towards the perfect chair for me ...
    a "chair" is unlikely to correct your posture ... that may need to be addressed in other ways ...
    but the chair should be doable and comfy with minimal add ons ... (diff lumbar or a footrest perhaps) and it gets a bit down to budget ... but i wasnt overly impressed with the herman miller even --- and many people love those .... tried the b and the c --- the c SHOULD be my size --- i wasnt overly impressed .... gateway vito wasnt bad it was one of the better ones --- and i found a place to buy it NEW for about 470 bux ....

I didn't think I could get an Amia for the full price but I got it for less than half. I can say it's night and day after using the same simple office chair for 12 years. So I think I need the extra cushion that the Amia provides (I have a sensitive coccyx/tailbone), but also the extra lumbar feature the Leap has. So that puts me in a dilemma, keeping me from purchasing either one. I wish Steelcase would combine the best of both chairs (i.e., the "Lamia"), as I think they'd find a very big market for it. Too bad. Now I'm looking at the Haworth Fern as the other option.

For anyone concerned with fit issues, I would double check measurements and verify what you currently are comfortable in before making a final decision on a chair -GK

      I am 5 10 or 11 and about 240 lbs --- i tried a SL Titan (not XL) --- it was a wonderfully sturdy chair --- the firmness and lack of good lumbar (for me) was the kicker ... the ONLY lumbar that fits those chairs (due to the wings) seems to be the omega cushion for the Titan proper ... I almost tried that during my negotiations with SL ... they were VERY accomodating and worked with me a long time trying to negotiate possible fixes and possible return --- i had worked it all out then sold the chair online to a local person for about what SL was willing to pay me (I lost about 50 bux on the chair) and they were willing to transfer my remaining warranty ...
      what are your issues with the Titan XL --- dont keep it if its not for you?
      the Titan was also killing my legs or my upper back.neck or both .... so i regretfully (it IS a very sturdy chair -- very nicely built etc ...) sold it ...
      The AMia has also been recommended to me ---
      Fellowes has a lumbar cushion (triangular) that i tried briefly --- it looks like a great bet for $50 --- off amazon ... for someone that might need that for lumbar ...
      it might EVEN fit the Titan --- i just never found the cushion while i still had the SL ... my friend is a bit over 6' and i dont know if hes 200 ish or about that ... hes not a really big big guy but tall ... and he loves his SL Titan XL ... different chairs for different ppl and tastes ... wish u the best of luck with the XL ---
      I just dont know what chair would be sturdier than the XL for a larger person ...
      and if the amia size doesnt accomodate ...

      @@kmm5684 Sorry to hear what you have been through for returning the Titan. Yes, it also killing me in the back...no lumber support at all, I want to return it but they ask me to work with UPS or Fedex which will ask 300ish to return it, I gave up since it's a bigger chair and also higher from the ground than Amia which is very important to me personally, Amia I think is 20"ish from the ground? which makes my leg feels not comfortable long time, for me ....because most of the vehicles has not enough leg rooms for me...or taller ppl, even the Jeep grand Cherokee I have, has not enough leg room.. my knees already exhausted everyday while driving ....So
      I don't know which chair is sturdier since my $300 game chair broke after 2-3 years... I want to use the Titan but for that I need to buy a lumber pillow somewhere like from SL is another 80bucks...I tried Aeron in store last year and I really like it, but that time gaming version is on sale but it needs 8 weeks of lead time so I didn't get it, I will say try some thing in store if you can, I found the ones they sale in Micro center is not bad for $300 and they have a lumber pillow with it, hope you find the right chair for you.

      I think @BoweiLiu has a point in requesting you disclose the tester's/reviewer's height/weight stats, so viewers can make a more informed comparison. I can understand not wanting to disclose such personal information, and people can sort of guess by looking, AND yes buyers should also take the steps you recommend above. But why not give viewers more information with which to digest your recommendations? Respectfully, -Fawn ;+)

    I do not know why all the reviewers are going PRO on that type of arm adjustments...
    Ok, I know they are nicely and easily adjusted, but they are not that great when you hit them or pull them without knowing. They are not fixed... they should have a button to lock and adjust them when they are unlocked only. (Like there is one on the height. or have the same button...)
    There is nothing "ERGONOMIC" in having arms that move when you do not want to move. EVERY steelcase I had, those arms gets loose. Sometimes I get suspicious about these reviews. :)
    Maybe it's just me, or the fact that I need to be very precise at my desk. + on gaming is annoying too.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Because they are the best of the best ;)
      They shouldn’t slide or move without some effort. If you put that much into them while sitting that they are moving, then this isn’t a good option for you. I’ve seen a lot of chairs, from the low to high end. Without question, these are some of the best.
      They do make arms like you’re mentioning. They are much more cumbersome to use though. Might be a better fit for you. That’s the thing about chairs. It’s very subjective.

      @@btodtv Wow! Thanks for the reply!
      I didn't knew they are making these type of armrests. (probably because I am not from the US and I cannot customize them) I will search into it! Steelcase are manufacturing those?
      They are moving when I am moving around the chair or when I need to plant my elbow right in the armrest for greater precision.
      PS: I believe you saying that they are the best of the best! I liked the arms on Aeron better though, but aeron is not for me... I feel trapped between chairs, lol! :)
      Thanks again for the reply!

      You're welcome! Unfortunately, they wouldn't be available on the Steelcase line.
      Did you purchase the Steelcase product new? Which chair is it? If you're using the armpads to move the chair around they will likely move on you. If you're just planting an elbow and leaning into it, they really shouldn't move too much unless the force is more sideways than downward.
      I have seen them on quite a few gaming chair products. This type of armrest adjustment is also available on some Nightingale Products as well.

      @Woot-Zee. I think you're using the chairs for what they weren't designed for. I was the same when I bought my first gaming chair and hated it because the armrests aren't long enough to reach where I used to rest my elbow while playing games and the armrest rotates easily when I put a little pressure on them. The more I used the chair the more I got used to what it can do and what it can't do.
      I said it above(like 30 minutes ago); ergonomic chairs aren't made for comfort(plushness in the back, the seat and armrests). It's more like they're made to be sitting 1 way(the good posture) with few posture changes and the armrest are just straight "armrests". If you like do move your arms while they resting(ex: playing games) then your arms aren't resting anymore.
      I gave up searching for an ergonomic chair that is as comfortable as my Lay-Z Boy. I finally understood that ergonomic is made for office work and the other things that we usually want from an ergonomic chair are not ergonomic at all. Those things are just for slouching. I'll buy a refurbish Leap V2 for work and a Lay-Z Boy whatever else...

      Please do not compare these chairs with gaming chairs! :)
      I actually need shorter armrests not longer. I needed to be closer to the desk not farther.
      Never happened on my aeron, it was only present on Steelcase. Leap v2.
      (I think you are on the wrong if you think the armrest in ergonomic chairs aren't made for comfort)
      With backrest I can understand.
      Later I confirmed with Steelcase that they were at fault after I tested a chair on their shop and compared to mine. They were TOO lose.
      They replaced them.

    if you are looking to buy an office chair instead of a gaming chair and you are a controller player under the height of 5 10 i would recommend not getting this chair. the seat doesnt go low enough for your feet to be flat footed and for your knees to be at the height of the seat. if you lean forward with your elbows on your knees for support then you will feel like youre falling out of the chair or having to balance yourself making you lose focus on the game. currently switching back to my old $50 gaming chair because of this and wish i could return the amia. I did get the BTOD cylinder so maybe with the original could go lower but i doubt it

    • @ryanpower1291
      @ryanpower1291 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may be able to get a foot rest that solves the issue with it not going low enough. But that is good to know.

    • @alfaralph7710
      @alfaralph7710 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Your chair's cylinder + casters are the problem. All original Leap v2(15.5" seat height) and Amia(16" seat height) go low enough for down to people 5'6" tall with your feet flat on the floor. Ahnestly is a famous TH-camr who reviewed the Leap v2 and Amia several times and he's 5'6" and he never had your problem. BTOD's website says that their Amia and Leap V2 seats are both 16" from ground level but you can customize your chair and you'll end up with a taller chair.
