- Dollar General Market Store Tour - North Huntington, PA. Enjoy a look at this Dollar General store that was recently converted and upgraded to a DG Market. Unlike a traditional DG store, this one sells fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, ground meat, chicken, etc. It basically has a much larger grocery section than a normal DG store does. Enjoy the look around the place.

I wish more DG’s would incorporate this concept. We have a few DG Markets here in Middle TN, but they’re mostly in large towns that already have big grocery chains. We have a metric crap ton of regular DGs pretty much around every curve and in every backwoods holler, even in some surprisingly very rural areas. Having the expanded grocery section would be a God-send for many folks who otherwise have to drive some 20-30 minutes to get to the nearest grocery store. This particular store you’re at is proof of concept that a conversion can easily be done!
It is because dollar general is more of a walmart than a grocery store so they are competing with grocery stores without the selection of clothing and furniture.

Yeah I remember when the Dollar Tree Corporation did it it was called Dollar Tree market and they had them for about three years in the Virginia North Carolina area that I know of and they were quite large Dollar General type on one side as you know and then grocery on the other and then they shut them down

This is a great idea and concept! Especially for food deserts! My hometown lost it’s only traditional grocery store and the only thing nearby to grab produce and meat is Walmart half an hour or hour away.
It’s hard for older folks and people without adequate transportation to get basic groceries.
In my opinion that is unacceptable!

When our local grocery closed Dollar General started converting the store within a week. They had the store done in no time and the best part is they didn't even close during the conversion. They truly did a good thing for our town and it made us feel like Dollar Genral truly cares about us (even though they probably don't lol) plus it opened when I was in highschool and the cheap after school snack selection was un-beatable.
I hope they keep this store stocked if people are going to depend on it for their groceries. One thing I have noticed with DG is the stores aren't consistent with keeping their stores fully stocked.

They did this in Parsons TN. Built a new Dollar General on the south end of town and turn the old Dollar General into a DG Market. Folks around here say the new building should have been the market as it would be half way between the Decaturville and Parsons stores but hey Dollar General built a Store in the map speck of Decaturville which we thought would never happen so....(the new Dollar General and DG Market are in Parsons which is north of Decaturville but all on the same highway) ..but all three stores are in a 10 minuet drive from each other and all 3 are nice. I am glad to see the DG Market and hope they in the future expand the meat a little more in our town. Sure beats a big box store.

You may have stopped at the one on McCauley Dr on rt250 Urichsville OH bc you did the abandoned Pizza Hut by it. It is a nice store. Like the fresh fruit and veggies.

I was just at the DG Market in Wellsburg WV, and I was impressed with the selection of items it had. Beer was also for sale (I guess in West Virginia that can be done there), and I just might have to make a return visit (I live in Washington County PA)

They are changing some of our Dollar General stores over to DG market where I live but I haven't been to one yet. Some of the regular stores have already added a small produce department but no meat. A lot of our newer stores are built bigger with a larger frozen department so maybe they plan to convert more stores hopefully. This would be a lot easier than the bigger grocery stores.

This is literally right by my house. The original concept was better, but we are all slowly getting used to it. Thank you for videotaping it Wallie, I can show my elderly mom the video so she can get an idea where everything is in the store.
Dollar General Market=Walmart and A Dollar General had a child.
Here in Weatherford the DG on Ft Worth Hwy started selling veggies right before Christmas. Blew my mind. Then when they opened the DG down in Brock it had a super large fridge section. Maybe not as big as the one you filmed but still big and they also installed self check out. Those weren't working till last month though. And a funny thing on the cat food. Down here it's almost impossible to find dry food. Tons of wet but not much dry. Looking forward to more DG Markets opening up.

I'm a manager at a dg market, some store are going to dg market / Pop shelf, which will have a expanded home decor section (ours are going to Pop Shelf in Aug). The toys in two sections are because some toys are "seasonal"

This reminds me of a DG Market in Oklahoma I stopped at last summer, it used to be something before DG took over the space, it hasn’t happened yet here in the Pacific Northwest as DG is still fairly new to that market, they just opened their first Idaho store like last week.

It might be what most if not all Dollar Trees may convert into, when they'd possibly change their name to what I'm calling "Bargain Tree". But for any cats my family ever had, they were usually fine with Meow Mix or Alley Cat.

I really wish I could ask DG corporate if they would consider building a DG market in my area. (Ward Arkansas) . We are a small bedroom community of 6K people that is somewhat underserved. We have a Dollar General that is small, crowded and dundeserved. We have to go to the towns that are on either side of us to buy groceries. That trip can take anywhere from 15 -20 minutes or more according to the time of day and traffic. If all you need to buy is a few items and you are having to fight the crowd at Walmart it just gets tedious. Really love this video.
I go to the one in Wellsburg WV.. They are nice and some prices are alot better.
I was under the impression a DG Market was just a small grocery store, but they still have lots of other stuff.
I wish they would put a DG market in our town, instead we have 6 regular Dollar Generals. Our county commissioners stopped them from opening anymore in our county. It's ridiculous at how saturated our area is with regular DG stores.I would love for them to convert some to DG Market.
Dollar General market is more like a grocery store other than the regular Dollar General which is a convenience store

They have one in Brunswick & Mansfield Ohio. I go to the one in Mansfield sometimes I live about 50 minutes away. It’s really nice. And prices are decent.

I mean there are still small DG’s out there but all the new ones being built since 2019 are all bigger

There is a dollar general in Liberty North Carolina that you can grocery shop and get gas too
There's 2 dollar generals on broadway in cleveland 1 in Akron area Broadview hts by wallings rd and Youngstown on mcguffey rd

I have heard that the DG Market is mostly converted stores in food deserts. That is not true in my area as I have 2 near my house and both are within 5 minutes of 2 Kroger, 2 Walmart, a Meijer, an Aldi, and 10 minutes from a Save-A-Lot. Given the choice, I'll choose Aldi or Save-A-Lot over DG Market.

Dollar Generals here in Virginia Beach Virginia are very messy and junkie and always has one cashier working

I have been in our local DG which is near the state highway, outside my town, too far away for me to walk. Family Dollar sucks; refrigerator and freezer in this store are broken and have been for several years. And they are more expensive than the supermarket in town (Hannaford).
