- Hoke-E-Geez - A Flea Market & Antique Mall Inside A Former Ames - Bedford, PA. Enjoy a walking tour throughout this unique store. While an antique mall and flea market aren't so unique, what makes this unique is the fact this is in an old Ames Department Store. And remnants of the Ames remain to this day from the graphics on the walls to the shopping carts and other items still in this building since this Ames closed in 1996.

There is no obligation and I'm not asking you to! All proceeds go toward expenses involved in travelling to film for you guys. I do not make a profit. Thank you!

I remember going into an Ames store once. I was visiting family in Pittsburgh. No Ames in the south. It was Zayre, Kmart, and Walmart for a long time. Walmart stores were small back in the day. They didn't sell any groceries when they first came out.
Hey, at least they are using the store for a purpose and they kept things from Ames in there. This one's right up your alley.
That is a pretty damn cool store, who doesn't love an indoor flea market.
I need me some ice cold Nuka cola
Thank you guys for coming to Bedford. I used to work in that particular Ames/Murphy Mart store back in the day.
I first bought something at Ames around 1988 or 1989 and by the mid and late 1990s I would shop there all the time I'm really sorry that Ames is gone
Nice to see you two again..thanks for sharing this. Lots of things to look at here.
Before Ames, We had Zayre. What a cool place.
Nostalgia is a strong emotion! I live in New England and there's 1 Sears left outside of Boston, that's it. I was in Seattle recently and saw a open Sears in the South Center mall. I spent an hour in there riding the escalator and looking everything. I talked to an associate for awhile and they couldn't understand why I was so excited! To see an Craftsman tool section again was heartwarming
That is a really neat store! I was in there last December thanks to you. My friend had been watching your videos and she had to come here because she loves shopping and the other was to check this old Ames now Hoke E Geez out. I really liked it, I could have easily bought a bunch of stuff on our Christmas shopping trip, but I only bought a Penguins jersey. We spent about 2 hours in the store.
Yes, it was a Murphy’s Mart before Ames
Awesome loved Ames and hills both
Oh man, thank you for showing us this place, Wallie! It makes me so happy that somewhere out there, there is still a place that feels like Ames is ALMOST still operating.
WOW THAT LUNCHBOX
That was a Murphy’s before it was Ames, my mom worked there lol
HUGE Bee Gees' fan, TY for the video & there WAS a mail box lunch box, lol.. :P
Man this store is setup like the Ames I used to shop in!
This flea market brings nostalgia to all people! Hopefully it is still open. I would LOVE to be here!
I love the NASCAR and heavy metal merch!
That place looks awesome I need to go one of these days believe it or not I have a air freshener can that was sold at Hills I would love to send u a pic of it love these videos
I could have a field day just looking and buying the nascar stuff in that store
Found my next road trip destination. Thanks Man!
I miss Ames! It was the first big box store I ever worked for. I've worked for Ames--both red and green times (as well as "Zames" as we called converted Zayre stores), Kmart, ShopKo, and Walmart (both 'Division 1'--smaller store, and Super Center). Still have all my old name badges too! Oh, and never worked for, but did shop regularly at a Hills too! I'm really missing the days of big box discount retail. Walmart and Target these days just don't feel the same as those of the bygone days.
One of the coolest videos I've ever seen here, I definitely have to go to that store someday.
Just stopped by this place today!!! I was pumping my gas across the street coming back from vacation in NY and I couldn't believe Hoke e geez was right there!!!! Almost missed it lmao, really neat place in person.
I love this place
That is such a cool place. I could spend hours in there and find all kinds of treasures. Thanks for sharing guys.
Worked at an Ames store in New York while going to school back in the early 80s.
So I noticed a sign with my last name on it while watching this video! I went to the store today and it was still there so I picked it up! Also, don't know if you noticed they were using Hills wet floor signs
I totally get that Winchester Speedway license plate been to that tracks so many times that's pretty cool looking
It's like you walk back in time. I really love it. I really miss the old days
I was here yesterday! This place is very nice. I love it. I also bought the car at 12:20
Wait what? King diamond CDs?😂 Love you Wally you tha man brother -
That was pretty awesome that left it like that really cool and Flea Market are awesome.
Wow what a store love it 🥰
I used to live in Bedford, Hoke-E-Geez is dope! lots of cool stuff and great Ames/Hills vibes
I always remember passing this place when driving to Johnstown or Latrobe but never did get a chance to go in there. Now that I have caught this I may just have to go next time. Thanks for this great video!
May have to check this place out! Take a day trip when my husband has his first week of vacation from work in a few months! That place really does look like you've stepped into a time machine, what with all of the shopping carts from stores that don't even exist anymore, like Ames, Bradlee's and KB Toys! And seeing all of the items that are becoming obsolete, like the cassette tapes and dvds! Thanks so much for sharing these fun videos! They give me good ideas of places where me and mine can go browse and explore! Amazing job!
I love ur videos i love those kinds of places
when you see a guy in ames wearing an ames shirt with an ames cart you know its going to be good
Just put this into my places to go on my google maps!!!!! I always wanted to go inside an old ames. Plus i love antique and flea markets. thank you so much for sharing this you are the man.

Gives a feeling of Ames still being open
There's a store like this in Hancock MD. I loved this video
This is awesome I wish we had a store like that in spokane. In Tacoma Washington well in fircrest washington there was one years ago!! It was in a old school grocery store from the 50's. Very cool video Wallie thx again for all the cool videos I always enjoy all your videos! 😎🇺🇲
Loved this video! Keep up the great work Wallie!
That place was cool , a lot of really good things . Bedford brings back so many great memories as a kid from the sixties.
Hi Wallie What a cool place!
i LOVE Hoke Geez, i stop there for my mandatory break in the mornings, so if you guys see a box truck with TransEdge on the side give me a wave, lol! Also, check out 4-Squared at the other end of this little plaza, some good deals in there too
There used to be a Jamesway near me and when it closed it became an Ames until that closed. Now a Stop and Stop is there but they redid the whole building.I saw in a video that there's an abandoned Ames in New Hampshire with the red letting still on the outside as of 2020!
LOOK AT THE TRASH CAN WHERE IT SAYS AMES REAL BIG 🤣
Love your videos! This store looks awesome!
You never know what you find in those stores. I mean even during Family Video store closing I was able to get the red guy M&M candy store display. Have a nice day now
Cool video Wallie. Thanks for posting! I absolutely adore flea markets like this, so I think I’m gonna take a ride out there sometime soon!
Awesome store!!!! Love these stores. Might take a road trip out there. Thank you.
Central Pa here and have to say that we used to shop at Hills and Ames and as kids we would love going to Hills for the free poocorn!
Great video, dude! We stopped here on a Sunday and they were closed unfortunately. Thanks for letting us see inside!
This was cool in so many ways! Great video!
Not sure if you already checked it out, but look into the old Jamesway @ Blakeslee, PA. It is also a Flea Market now that I visited once 8 yrs ago. I think it closed down around '91.
Wallie definitely found his new happy place lol that place looks so awesome
Hoke-E-Geez is a cool store! I'd like to go there sometime. Have a KMartlicious Day! Have a Hoke-E-Geelicious Day!
Awesome video 👌👌
The old Ames in Pennsville NJ was split into 2 units and each side saw a thrift shop at different times. Along with a variety of other tenants which have come n gone.
There could be a Buc-ee's opening near me......in Efland, NC. They are still deciding whether or not it would be constructed and/or open. Just figured I'd mention it.
so cool
My childhood all over again.
Nice. Thank you.
Nice place!!
Isn't it fantastic that they kept the original signage - cheap for them but also very retro. I know you said you spent an hour in there - I'd have been in there all day!
A place I'd love to go check out for sure Wallie great find bro.
This is a very nice looking store.
I love you two guys. Put a ring on her finger
Hhhhhhh...but true
WallieB26, really enjoyed your totally awesome and cool video! Never seen a Hershey's vending machine before but, that was cool!
18:00 OMG, My dad too. Dude. My dad also had one of those green thermos for coffee.
What a great place
That is a neat store! If I'm ever in the area, I'll have to check it out!
I like that K-mart 20th anniversary glass! I saw one of those about 20 years ago in an antique store in Big Spring, TX. I was considering buying it at the time--and now I kinda wish I had.
I can also verify it was a Murphy’s before Ames. Used to shop at both .
I’m always looking for good flea markets, I guess I’ll be making the trip to Bedford Pa soon . Yeah it’s only an hour ride so I’ll be there in the near future. Thanks for the heads up
Fantastic video Wallie, it's to bad I live in California, I would definitely like to spend a few hours in the store. From your video, I can definitely say, I saw some stuff in the store I would absolutely buy.
Okay a former Ames, now a flea market/ antique store. Plus the carts and Bradlees ones. Wow and i live 5 hours from there, i need to drop by there
There is another place in downtown Bedford that is called Founders Crossing
They must have bought the building, so after it closed for it to be in that kind of shape
OMG those carts tho
We had an Ames In Peoria IL which closed in 1992.
That place is sick! I’m in Massachusetts but may have to trek down here!!
Oh my gosh hon I would have to certainly come here if my honey David was still alive and spend a week there going up and down every aisle it would drive him absolutely crazy but I would be in seventh heaven what a fantastic store...It is about as great as the other one I just watched of yours in your other video I love these antique malls I could make a great road trip
This place looks so fun! Unfortunately I live like 6 hours away but I'll have to plan a road trip some day
Would love to have had that Davey Allison car! He was my favorite driver before he passed!
I’m from Altoona and never heard of this place. I’m going to plan a trip here. Looks cool.
2:47 I also came across a McCrory basket while thrifting once
That’s probably cleaner as a flea market now than when it was an Ames, lol.
yes I love this store has a lot of cool items I would like to shop and browse this store
