Looking at the new planar set and new leaked sets, I don’t agree that DoTs resurgence is on the horizon. Summon meta being ushered in, and that’s likely going to be the meta for a while.
I see Feixiao as a cherry on top for the FuA archetype and we will probably start seeing less of it from now on. I agree that the DoT characters all rerunning now seem like it might get supports soon. Maybe the character that was teased at the end of 2.5's story quest will be the one to bring that support, I sure hope so cause its my favourite archetype and Ive been starving for new units. Pulled Kafka E2S1 in 1.1 and for what hoyo, for what (she clears stuff still I love her)

It's pretty much abandoned at this point. They were like " here is e2 jiaoqiu if you want a dot support" we focusing on FUA and break now and later getting to the summon meta. Rip hypercarry and DoT. They had their time
I don’t see how Hoyo would continue to produce Break units when we had an entire phase of it. Seems like lazy game writing to me. Why would Hoyo introduce 2 dedicated DoT units then drop the entire archetype entirely? E2 Jiaoqiu also isn’t a variable to Hoyo dropping the archetype more like reintroducing the archetype by putting him out there as an option but a staple unit for the team. So, why would Hoyo release Jiaoqiu, Black, Swan, AND Kafka?

The HP mechanic you mentioned with Blade is an entirely different topic, otherwise I could just randomly bring up the argument of ‘FuA wasn’t playing even Dr Ratio’ Pointing out that FuA and Break is going to phase out of that meta too is something everyone is aware of. That isn’t uncommon or rare knowledge to come across. The point you made of ‘it’s taking a long time for it to happen, it probably won’t happen’ and somehow even in this day and age DoT still keeps up with the meta, so if DoT actually received support wouldn’t that just break the game too? If Hoyo introduced a DoT support unit that allowed characters like Kafka, Black Swan to proc crit DoT hits, would that not be broken? Hoyo does want to phase out ‘older’ teams, true. But they’re still playable nonetheless. Character appeal is also another factor to consider which large portions of the player-base usually follow and that’s what Kafka and Black Swan did well on their sales. Crit dot is quite bland of an idea Firstly you need to build ehr and speed on ur dot chars instead of crit as it is what functions with their kit and suppose we get a support who makes the dots crit at a fixed value That also isn't viable since hoyo tries to make supports more universal like Ruan and robin despite being best in slot for certain playstyles can be played in a lot other teams which crit dot type thing won't synergize with I'm actually excited to see hoyo cook something interesting with this one as their harmony character kits are really intriguing to me
If the enemy moves extremely fast, you really don't want Kafka on the team. A DoT re-trigger is unnecessary if the enemy is already fast enough. It's much better to increase your overall damage rather than squeezing an extra action worth of damage (the same argument with SPD vs ATK). There's also the fact that the faster the enemy moves, the more SP is needed to maintain your debuff uptime (eg. Black Swan's DEF Shred) while simultaneously forces your healer to consume more SP to keep the team alive. This will greatly limit the amount of SP you can spend on Kafka, to a point where you'd use Basic ATK instead of Skill.
You usually want to do a basic with Black Swan instead of Kafka. Black Swan debuff last two turns, and Basic applies the same amount of Arcana Charges than Elemental. So Black Swan is usually Skill neutral, and you can focus on spam Elemental with Kafka. Well, maybe that is the benefit for using Aventurine as a sustain in my DoTs team 😅
Ugh. I got Kafka but still trying to get Black Swan. I got Yanqing when I tried to pull her. 65 pulls in. Waiting for the other tickets and jades for the story. If mhy wants DoT to thrive, they need to build content for it along with enemies where they would take advantage. Beat spongey enemies as fast and as little turns as possible is not what DoT was made for and that's what most endgame content is.
That thing is useless, even in game that have some focus in ista kill mechanics (like Shin Megami Tensei). I don't think they will include something similar in this game ever
