The problem with the Jedi is they didn't understand that bringing balance to the force meant drastically reducing the Jedi presence (light side) since the Sith presence (dark side) wasn't nearly as numerous. At the sight of the necklace, the king’s queen stood from behind him and began to walk forward with her hand covering her mouth and eyes wide with terror. Though her servants rushed to her side, no comfort could be given to the queen as her heart was now broken. Though she knew not where her daughter was in the world, she felt the life of their only daughter leave her body. All of you.” The stranger looked to the other kings who sat at the great table. A son who has surpassed his father, the king of all kings, in ways,” the stranger smiled briefly,” he could never have imagined.” The stranger looked to the queen again saying, “Oh Mother, cry not for my sisters death.” The king regarded the man in a new light as he studied the strangers face. The stranger continued, “Take heart. For she is someplace better now. Oh, but not above the stars in the brilliance of the light. No. She’s somewhere far better. Just…not quite as bright.” He smiled as his eyes slowly turned black. The queen screamed out in pain as she realized what he meant and she fell to her knees and crawled into her servants arms flailing her arms in a horrible desperation to escape from this nightmare. Black mist crawled from the stranger’s skin as he sang a familiar tune with a look of joy upon his face. “Oh light of day and stars of night, Bring us strength against our plight, Our faith is great and the dark is small, Give us victory at our call. He let out a howling laugh remembering the old nursery rhyme taught to him and his siblings as children. Then he disappeared from sight.
I've listened to this three times now. It's absolutely astoundingly beautiful. But it has a strong palatable theme of sorrow, fear and shame. WELL DONE!

One moment 2 Imperial Guard regiments were fighting side by side against a chaos hoard, then suddenly in a hellfire of artillery bombardments and detonated minefields my army was nearly wiped in one fell swoop, trying to recover and build more units as valkyries dropped karsikins in my base and several bombing and gun runs demolished my final defenses.

The problem with the Jedi is they didn't understand that bringing balance to the force meant drastically reducing the Jedi presence (light side) since the Sith presence (dark side) wasn't nearly as numerous. Only 2. A master and an apprentice. Jedi numbered in the thousands. Their hubris was their downfall. Anakin fulfilled the prophecy to Obi-wan's dismay.

It held many jewels but none larger than the shining brilliance of the large white stone which hung proudly below the rest. None in the kings house was a stranger to the one necklace this man held in his hands. Even still, the shock of what the king saw in the strangers hand stilled the breath in his chest.
“No greater gift to a king than his blood.” The stranger continued.
At the sight of the necklace, the king’s queen stood from behind him and began to walk forward with her hand covering her mouth and eyes wide with terror. The stranger looked to her in mocking reverence. “No sweeter gift to a father than his daughter.” He looked back to the king. “A gift so great to be taken by something so small.” The hand which held the necklace suddenly grasped the gem of light tightly and in a single moment crushed it within his hands, letting the shards scatter upon the royal carpet. “Nooooo!” The queen’s lungs cried out with a furious and shrill wail. Though her servants rushed to her side, no comfort could be given to the queen as her heart was now broken. Though she knew not where her daughter was in the world, she felt the life of their only daughter leave her body. The pain of her daughter’s death was felt within her blood as the man’s words bored an empty hole into her mind. “Oh great kings.” Said the stranger with head hung low and a solemn voice, “The dark was never gone from this world. It had merely lost interest in you. The great army of old, the last of all creation that had banded together for a final strike against the darkness all those long years ago. What was the point of victory in that fight? You misunderstand the dark foolish kings. There would be no screams left to hear if all life had been devoured that day. No more anguished cries of loss. No more pain to take solace in. Oh but to see you now. You have rebuilt. You are reborn and renewed. A great many nations and empires that the light has given rise. Now the dark has seen your joy. Your peace. Your wealth. Your strength. Your love. Your light. What greater gift to the dark than to take what the light has given? This is my gift to you oh king.” The man said as he tossed the necklace forward to the ground. “A token of what you had lost so you may keep it close and hope that it grants you strength. You will have need of it.” The king stammered out the words, “Who are you?”
The stranger lifted his head to the king as he spoke, “I was once a gift to a king. A gift to a father. Once. Now I am renewed as you have been.” The stranger’s voice became cold with a stone face. “By blood. By pain. By betrayal. Now I stand before you. All of you.” The stranger looked to the other kings who sat at the great table. A son who has surpassed his father, the king of all kings, in ways,” the stranger smiled briefly,” he could never have imagined.” The stranger looked to the queen again saying, “Oh Mother, cry not for my sisters death.” The king regarded the man in a new light as he studied the strangers face. The stranger continued, “Take heart. For she is someplace better now. Oh, but not above the stars in the brilliance of the light. No. She’s somewhere far better. Just…not quite as bright.” He smiled as his eyes slowly turned black. The queen screamed out in pain as she realized what he meant and she fell to her knees and crawled into her servants arms flailing her arms in a horrible desperation to escape from this nightmare. Black mist crawled from the stranger’s skin as he sang a familiar tune with a look of joy upon his face.

Eventually, they arrive at the throne room. There they see Vendrick clad in his armour of aquamarine and imperial gold sat atop a throne of similar colours, except for its back which is crafted to resemble radiant stars around which a great serpent is coiled
He observes the arrival of an emperor similar to his own stature, flanked by warriors half again the size of even the tallest of mortal men. Where before there was caution now a greater interest blooms as he waits for this being's herald to introduce him
Valdor steps forward, slamming the haft of his guardian spear to the ground. "You are in the presence of the Emperor of Mankind! Unifier of Terra! Savior of Humanity! Omnissiah of the Martian Mechanicum! Revelation!" His helm turns to stare at Vendrick directly. "Your Father." The Emperor smiles, the gesture no more than a slight twitching of the lips as he awaits his Son's immediate reaction. He chides Valdor, who stiffens within his battleplate as the Emperor communicates with, the exchange taking no more than a nano-second.
For that same nano-second Vendrick is taken aback, the other titles falling by the wayside as he considered the truth of the herald's statement. Then he looked the Emperor in the eye and saw there the undeniable fact that this was his father. The questions raised by this were legion but for now, it must wait for more stately concerns.
Vendrick speaks, and though his voice is low it carries throughout the room "I greet you, Father." The man who was about to announce Vendrick steps back at the implied dismissal "Since we are family I will not bore you with titles. Instead, I ask what is your purpose here aboard my flagship?" His voice is such that those who listen are immediately filled with a sense of warmth and a feeling of comradery and admiration towards Vendrick.
Vendrick would feel the brush of the Emperor in his mind, the Emperor making it known to his son that he wishes to speak with him alone.
Vendrick makes a slight gesture with his wrist, moments later the room is empty save for the Primarch, the Emperor and the Custodes
Valdor would move to stand next to the door but does not leave. The Emperor steps forward, finally speaking to his son. "I have come to bring you into the fold, my son. To grant you the power to execute a conflict such as the one you are currently struggling with ease. If you only... kneel." The final word would be spoken as a near command, the Emperor allowing Vendrick to see but a measure of his true power as he grows silent, sensing his Son's ambition, he appeals to his quest for power.
Seeing the obvious implication of what would come were he to refuse Vendrick rose and began to walk down the steps to his throne, not in the manner of one deferring but instead almost casually "My domain too would join the fold of course, what would become of it once it did?"
"The wheels of Imperium will turn. You will be but a spoke alongside your siblings. Your worlds will continue their work, though alongside the hundreds of thousands of others in our Imperium. Still, yours to protect, and rule if you still desire it. Though you are an Emperor no longer, a Lord of this Imperium." This song perfectly captures the moment when I realized why my teammate had placed his fortifications in such odd locations, why he set up turrets so close to my generators and why he moved his artillery so far away from my base. One moment 2 Imperial Guard regiments were fighting side by side against a chaos hoard, then suddenly in a hellfire of artillery bombardments and detonated minefields my army was nearly wiped in one fell swoop, trying to recover and build more units as valkyries dropped karsikins in my base and several bombing and gun runs demolished my final defenses.
