In middle and high school, when all the guys had posters of Motley crue, bon jovi.... I had her pics... her voice.. her talent on the bass makes her sooooo effing awesome! Wish that day I saw them in concert and had the chance to meet her. I chickened out... how I wish I could rewind time

I'll always be a Susanna admirer (in fact, I've had a crush on her since the 80s), but the Bangles is an ensemble and each member fulfills the roll of lead singer. Michael is fabulous with her sultry voice, and has a great sense of humor. I wish she'd return.

The band called her for doll revolution not anyone else. I know she is supposed to be happy on her "Estate near Vancouver BC" But the fans MISS her like water in the desert.
Michael was the bubbles in the water for the Bangles. She supplied them with oxygen. She filled their music with a buoyancy that could raise an Arch. She is a gift. 🎉
Michael Steele is a gorgeous lady who has a great singing voice and knows how to play her bass guitar. She is a great performer and goes about her musical business in a very professional way. Michael is unassuming and her abilities and superb qualities speak for themselves. A fantastic lady in every respect in my book, a truly fabulous girl !
Love the part at the end 3:12 where she gives Hoffs a soft tap, knowing she just nailed it. You can really hear Hoff's Rickenbacker guitar and she has a nice little solo. Steele's voice is great - she should have sang more of their songs.

Wow! If you watch a Big Star video and Alex Chilton's version of this song, you'll realize why Michael was selected to sing it. The tone of her voice is so similar to Alex's, it almost sounds like the same version. And he who doesn't appreciate Susanna's rhythm guitar, she really makes that Rickenbacker 12 string jangle in this song. You can clearly distinguish the sound of her guitar from Vicki's humbucker pick ups. And you can also distinguish the total cluelessness of their producers who did not want to release this song as a single from their album "Different Light". In my humble opinion it was definitely single material, and would have taken the limelight off of Susanna as the Bangles' "lead vocalist" as the media hyped her. Susanna was the first to correct interviewers in that the Bangles had no "lead singer". Giving the other members of the band more single exposure might have avoided their 1989 split up.

Pero el resto de la banda se enfrascó en cosas personales y dejaron a Michael como la única que había abandonado todo por la banda. Esto la molestó y les dijo que no volvería a tocar más con ellas. La separación se materializó en 2005.
Micki.... Without her, Bangles would have never won most of the 'edgier' fans or whatever you call them. And that's just about the least important thing to say about her, as a musician...she has it all. I've never even taken the band too seriously most of the times, but Micki....talent, looks, musical sensitivity, stage presence....she has it all.

Agree. IMO all 3 had much better voices than Susanna. The sisters harmonize beautifully together. Susanna's voice is unique for sure though and her looks didn't hurt. I still think that Michael was prettier.

The Bangles (and Susanna solo) frequently cleverly (and knowingly, of course) shifted genders in songs.
God, she sang and played heavenly music all the time looking like the angel she was. This is fabulous but I feel a bit of sadness that it's all over now.
