I always visualize you out on the open seas, away from the city chaos. Then, as a retired firefighter, I recognize the sounds of an Engine and Truck Company responding to a call from not to far a distance. My illusions are shattered!😅 Great video as always, thanks Adam.
Adam you are an incredible and very knowledgeable fisher!! Bar none! Moon and squid. I believe commercial squid fishes shine huge bright lights on waters that they net. The prized diet of ocean sunfish, Mola mola, is squid. I too, love them, breaded and fried; topped with soya or cocktail sauce.
Man--I haven't gone fishing in over a decade and only in lakes and rivers. But I just love your videos. So relaxing and also exciting. Can't wait to see all of your success this year, Adam!
Nice, they are opening up Halibut up here in BC tomorrow (rather early then what is normal) though, iv never been fishing specifically for halibut from my kayak, just starry flounder , cabazon , greenling ext. Most people tell me there isn't much halibut in the georgia straight / puget sound as they tend to stay further out west in the deeper areas, past all the coastal islands. which makes sense, but being from Vancouver it sure would be nice to be able to try somewhere along the coast that isnt west coast vancouver island. Anyone have luck before?
What all fish can you catch while kayaking in California waters? I always wanted to move to Florida but for personal reasons that may no longer be viable, but job opportunities in So. Cal are looking promising. But I know nothing of the California fisheries, what can be caught, what is prized, what can be kept, what people want to keep, and so much more. I know this is such a vast and varied topic, but if you could give me any advice or resources, you'd have the gratitude of a man in a dark time in his life.
Question about your Spin & Cast.. rod socks ? Can you tell me how long each one are in inches, So I can cover the rods with no reel on. To cover the reel seat also. Most companies just say a 7'ft. Or 7.5' rod . Also what end would you cut if I want to shorten it ? Thanks 👍 Ray S.
Have you ever caught a pacific halibut in the Bay Area? I know that they make their way there sometimes. But I totally agree with waiting to pull your gear last. You never know! I’m trying to train my father to not reel in our rods when we pop loose off the downrigger clips. I tell him I have caught fish as it comes to the surface before! He still does it.
Thanks Adam, but where are you (in each vid)? I could see you were near Alameda in a few vids, but I don't always recognize the terrain. Are you keeping that a secret? If so, I don't blame you. Thanks for taking us fishing. Do you have a video that shows bleeding and cleaning?
Nice fish Adam! My absolute favorite fish to eat is halibut! Tight lines brother!!! I always brain and bleed all the fish I keep to eat. Imo, it makes the fish so much better on the plate!
Aerodynamics = in the air Hydrodynamic = in the water Because as you said "in the winter you must go Low and Slow" that way your bait bucket will stay in the water and not fly through the air.......but wouldn't that make it more aerodynamic??? Adam is right again! 😛
It hurt to see you throw that whitefish back! Theyre incredibly rare up north and taste delicious. No they do not fall under the same restrictions as rockfish and are pretty much open year round to both shore and boat based anglers. Otherwise great video and tight lines!
@@dogsense3773well theyre not endangered. It just so happens that they have an isolated and thriving population in a much more northern area. But I see what you mean and I totally get it, especially applying to freshwater bodies where fishing pressure can really thin out sensitive species.
I heard San fran bays, east bays are very polluted and fish is full of toxic chemicals, so many ships come and go, all boats and engines that are watercooled, disperse toxic chemicals into bays, even my 6hp outboard produces oily stream of water as its cooling engine. Constantly eating fish from nearshore is bad idea
Hi Adam, new to saltwater fishing. Just bought a .boat Is it possible to have Rod & Reel models your using. My target will be Halibut Salmon Rock fish So many products out there. Pricing all over Please help your input is appreciated.
Your fishing technique would do a killing on snook in Veracruz , Mexico. The locals troll super slow with heavy weights in 40 to 50ft of water or they find a current and just drift live bait much like you do. i'm going to get a kayak and get rich selling snook to restaurants..
I'm reading online and it says rockfish is closed for boat-based angling, so catching them on shore is still ok? And man if I ate a donut on a kayak I would literally sh*t myself 😂

I've caught white fish there. Jan halibut and squid that's nuts. Nice Adam.
Wow man that’s incredible good fishing time Congratulations.
Glazed buttermilk and halibut fishing...that's heaven! Awesome vid Adam!
When you age, you’ll prefer a plain buttermilk and a black French Roast. 🥰

That would be a cool place to fish for sure! I hope to make it up there with my kayak someday!
@@DieHardFishing That be awesome to see! , lots of salmon opportunities too of course :D
Nicest guy of all the Bay Area dudes for sure. Long time sub.
Always entertaining. And a great teacher. 🥰
I appreciate that!

I see your on a kayak. I was wondering how safe I would be if I took my 14 foot aluminum boat out there. It has a 15 horse motor on it. Thanks.

nice bird. nice catch.
The die hard halibut slaying machine strikes again...with the full moon high. Poor little halis dont stand a chance.
The streak is still alive!
A man after my own heart. Always keep a line in the water
Adam were is that plase to catch squid can you tell me please?
You the man Adam yes sir!!
How long are you normally out on the water for?
Where are you finding water that deep in the bay?
Got the live bait tank - it is easier to kayak with - limited drag for sure!
Sweet! You'll love it!

I have done that too! I've never caught a pacific halibut. On my bucket list for sure!
That first halibut was a slab. Nice work! I’m going to try for a 11/12 month halibut. Missed January. See ya around!
Good luck! See you out there!
Are you fishing two rods and sibikis in the bay??
Love a Glazed Buttermilk Bar
Adam, happy new year brotha, way to start the year!
Happy new year!

There are new electric pedal assist for kayaks I saw on John Skinner’s channel…
Covers water pretty fast and has reverse
Yeah those are pretty cool!
You can keep white fish during winter near the Channel Islands is it not the same in the Bay Area?
I think it is, I didn't know at the time
what camera are you using?
Another great video!
What rod is the lexa on?
The winter swell moves the Halibut off shallow water into deeper water, easier on them. Chuck
Good video.want to see more
Butter milk another fav of mine. Lol
Where are you fishing at
Lucky donut , I love the plane buttermilk bar, but I think I’m switching to glazed
I might have to switch as well!
Bad ass. Halibut king bro
There were a ton of sardines and Santacruz Two-ish weeks ago
Whitefish are open year round and that was a great sized one
Good to know!
Nice job!
Thanks for the visit
Nice bud good job
His name says it all 🎣
Sweet James!!

Couple of nice Hallies🎉🎉🎉

I agree. The Ocean Whitefish are tasty. I'm able to catch a couple of those in Monterey Bay.
@@vicrramos the amount of socal species that live in an isolated population in Monterey is insane. Calicos, halfmoons, sheepshead etc.
If it's rare, the more reason to let them go

Fishing in front of El Torrito in 100+ft and no one told you? No reports? LOL
Is there any way you can talk about your rods reels line weight etc. Great video. Awesome job. Keep em coming
Yes! Will do!
My favorite doughnut as well
Whitefish is not a rockfish, aka Sebastes. Its a tile fish familly and fillets nicely. Generally like squid.
Didn't you get bait a few videos back?

Unreal... Halibut in January... Curious what February will bring...?!?!
Me too!
Nice job Adam! Was this inside the bay?
No, it was in the open ocean
thats no donut. that's a cruller!

Limit? Does that mean you didn't renew your commercial license?
Anyone know the location new to kayaking here
