Thanks for the ride-along! Beautiful day except for the fog.👍
Thanks John!
You saved the day again. You are a very talented operator. Thanks for posting these videos. I've been in this situation before and I relive my boating experiences each time I watch one of your videos. BTW great boat and rigging. You're a pro.
Thanks Jay! I'm glad you're enjoying these videos!
Nice job. I bet they were glad to see you
Thanks Brian! It was a bit hard to hear, but that's exactly what they said when I first got there
Nice work, that guy appeared to be in the middle of nowhere...fog can be scary, we have had a few close encounters and disoriented also...
Thanks Vancity! I know when he started his day it wasn't too bad, but that sea fog can develop pretty quickly that time of year from nothing
Another good video Ken! Need some radar on board! 😉You ever use a wooden boat hook with a snap swivel attachment to hook the tow line to the tow eye at the bow? USCG had them back in the day and we trained using them in the CG Aux. to tow stranded boaters.
Plus you can tow a heck of a lot faster
Thanks Mikey! This boat actually does have radar...not sure if it's setup for weather or surface or if there's even a difference 🤷
The problem with just hooking something to the tow eye is that then you have to get it off later and some of these boats it's impossible to from either boat. I'm trying to get my boss to buy a mooring hook since it'll feed the towline through the eye and pull it back via a pretty cool mechanism
A dumb question? Can you explain how other boaters in the fog could regonise you also you being the vessel in tow vrs vessel under tow? In the middle of fog, it's very confusing?
The towing vessel will have tow lights and usually flashing lights as well as its nav lights on. Hopefully, the towed vessel will have its nav lights on as well.
Simply other vessels in the fog would not recognize other vessels being towed because they are in the fog also. Those vessels under tow and those vessels doing the towing have come out of the fog and are doing something useful and productive. Other boaters in the fog can not recognize this because they are still in the fog.
