I have one of these, the other night it was drinking and then I got up this morning and it hung itself in the garage and didn’t even leave a suicide note. So in many ways is EXACTLY like a real drummer.
Great video. Just got the BB mini 2. It sounds like you multitracked the demo …I might try it with my audio interface and GarageBand to make a song loop to play to.
I know that "dealing with a real drummer" joke was intentionally lighthearted but i had a huge fight with my ex best friend/drummer 2 yrs ago , we stopped talking and ive been trying to find a replacement, it made me cringe hearing that joke haha
Once in a while you’ll find a drummer totally into the music...... once in a while. Like Lars was totally like me with and when the NWOBHM broke. It sucks trying to talk people into metal. Doing this album all by myself.
The new standard drummer audition question, "You better than my Beatbuddy...well" Great Demo, seems with the beatbuddy mini and the footswitch you have a great combo, and wonder why you would pop for the more expensive senior. Thanks for the rundown.
You absolutely can! Although we usually recommend our full-size BeatBuddy for professional gigging musicians, it is possible for the MINI 2. Just make sure to plug the BeatBuddy Mini 2 into a PA or full-range speaker for the highest sound quality.
Could I connect the output cable into one side of my stereo looper pedal, and record/loop a Beat Buddy beat to that channel while I play my guitar into the other channel?
Ive got one bet never use i on live gigs, I cannot understand why no manufacturer has never thought of the most obvious solution to bending down to change the settings on the onboard footswitch why not separate the pedal from the controls?
Why produce a top-of-the-range main pedal and such a poor additional footswitch? If you are thinking of live performance in semi-loud situations the footswitch is fine. However, be warned, the switches make an awful noise. I would not take them into the studio for recording. Their tech man checked out my video and said that the level of noise was 'normal' for them. You can hear the clunk of the switch as well as the squeak of the spring, all amplified by the enclosure.
Hi can you slow down the tempo ?? I like to play a lot of country and just wondering if this will give me the beats I am looking for. I only play at our family's party's but would like a good beat. Thanks
I'm a bit confused about why this has an input? It's a drum machine that doesn't alter what it's playing based on the input, but only the controls, right? So not like the Trio, but more like a drum machine and a dry/wet control combined?
+Arthur Hagen I would guess just for the convenience of being able to put it into an existing pedal chain so its output joins that of the guitar being sent to the amp. It doesn't have any headphone out, and is mono, so in most cases its audio would probably go where the guitar goes.
+Arthur Hagen I just bought one of these and I thought the same thing at first. I actually used it last week for a small cafe gig and it worked surprisingly well. If you use another pedal(s) the beatbuddy goes on the end. Works for me cause im playing an acoustic into a zoom multi-effect, then into the beatbuddy to the PA. But it would sound like chit through an electric guitar amp. Definitely only for PA/Keyboard amp/or acoustic guitar amp.
I run mine they my amp because that's my only option and it sounds good. I'm sure it would sound better thru a PA but I'm happy with it going thru my amp.
It beats having a smart mouth too loud drummer and sorry drum kit that takes 2 hours, its own van and half the stage space to set up. I'm a bass player/drummer for last the six months doing both jobs with my full range bass cab with the original Beat Buddy. It sounds even better with bit of compression I use with it, too. In fact I bought 2 just in case one breaks. That's the future for the average troglodyte drummer who can't keep a beat anyway. Its 2 for the price of 1.5 with none of the hassels, to the highest bidder from now on.
This demos always come with instrumental pieces. I wish someone would do a demo singing an actual song so we can see if it's possible to play full songs with this pedal, not just instrumental jam sessions.
Don't buy the Mini. I ordered it and tried it. I hate it. Not enough basic rock beats. To many jungle beats that most would never use. Intros are too long. I am a professional drummer, guitarist and singer. The mini is Not worth buying. A Pain to send back to although it is do-able and you will get your money back. Guitar sells them now so you can try the BeatBuddy out for free. But who knows it may work for you.
I don't see many good options but the Beatbuddy (not the beatbuddy mini) might be good that's the bigger version but after seeing so many worthless and useless jungle beats on the mini I'm sure the Beatbuddy would have a bunch of worthless beats too. I believe there would be more good beats on there though. I saw yesterday that Guitar Center sells them. I'm surprised but that's good you can try it out before buying but it costs $250. through the company. Maybe Guitar Center will sell them cheaper. I have looked at every option and can't find one. I can't find any foot drums that I like or they are too expensive. I would like to try a Boss DR 880. You can see some pretty good demo videos and it has beats that you would really use but they didn't show too many. It says you can make your own beats in it hopefully as a loop but this thing costs $500. and it's still not a guitar type pedal. I think this is well worth the money if you can afford it. (I cannot right now) but it has I think a guitar compressor, and lots of effects that you would really user including amp modeling if I remember right. The reason I said worthless beats at the beginning is because I am a drummer and guitarist. I have played in a lot of rock and country bands and for the music I like you just don't use all those what I call jungle beats.
Have you ever tried the DigiTech Trio+? I was too trying to look for a good drum/backtracking machine so I could practice at home or have fun with it. The Trio+ sounds great through reviews and I was actually thinking getting one myself when I have the money. Cheers!
Yes, I did at Guitar Center a few months ago. I didn't like it because it sounds artificial. I mostly didn't like the bass that follows your guitar. It reminds me of a Lowery home organ with a rhythm section on it that 80 year olds play. Maybe because I play drums and bass and I look for a more authentic sound. But I think it does keep the beat and sounds decent and it follows your guitar well. I don't remember the drum sounds much but I remember the bass sounds. Try it you might like it and it may work well for you. We all hear things different. I know what you mean about when you get the money. I have to wait almost two weeks when I get paid to buy a Used DR. Boss 880. It is the only good sounding drum machine that I have heard but I haven't tried it out yet. I've only heard it on TH-cam. You can get them Used for about $185. US dollars but that's a lot of money for me too. I am taking a chance buying it hoping I have enough for the rest of the month and hoping there's nothing wrong with it. Ha! I have researched about 30 drum machines and I haven't seen any good ones except the 880. I wish you luck. Write back if you have anymore questions.
A very wise man said it takes a very good drummer to be better than no drummer at all.
Excellent demo. Thank you.
Way cool! A drummer that doesn't bum cigarettes or eat your pizza.
Or get all the girls!
Lmao...
or get drunk and start fights with the rest of the band
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Drummers could take offense but I think they are all too busy playing gigs because there are so many guitar players. Ha
Chromaesthesia there's never good drums to play with its very rare;(
@@N64Guy Yep. We can't find one to save ourselves unless it's a pro, and then you gotta dole out the dough, y'know. This pedal might be a solution.
Drummers can be offensive 😎
Great playing, great demo, thanks for the demo-review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have one of these, the other night it was drinking and then I got up this morning and it hung itself in the garage and didn’t even leave a suicide note. So in many ways is EXACTLY like a real drummer.
;) #KeepRocking
great demo - enjoyed your playing too
Wow nice demo of this product God bless and more power ♥️
Great video. Just got the BB mini 2. It sounds like you multitracked the demo …I might try it with my audio interface and GarageBand to make a song loop to play to.

Looks like fun
Yeah, it's good but can it play Wipe Out?
Nice Takamine!
Charlie Watts in a box.. Very Cool. :-)
What are some specific advantages it's bigger brother BeatBuddy has over this mini version ??
SD Card, PC Connectivity, and MIDI Controls
I love the intro song, sponsored by Pitzman’s Mustard
What is the name of the first song? Matchbox 20 song?
Andy is always inspiring my playing - thanks!
I got one of these I got a re-learn to use it nice video
Happy to help after all these years!
Good Demo! What pickups are in the tele?
me when there's a new pedal demo:
me when there's a decade old proguitarshop pedal demo: 😱😭🥵🥳
Haha thanks! I hope you've found my current channel for demos as well!
Andy
@@AndyDemos I had no idea!! Thanks man 🤘
How do you amplify Beatbudyy ? Bass are great.
Beats having to deal with drumists and I think it sounds cool for my type o pap.
The new standard drummer audition question, "You better than my Beatbuddy...well" Great Demo, seems with the beatbuddy mini and the footswitch you have a great combo, and wonder why you would pop for the more expensive senior. Thanks for the rundown.
SD Card, PC Connectivity, and the MIDI controls maybe?
which is easier to use....the Regular Beatbuddy or the mini?
Which you like better?
How are the synth pads produced from 3:07 on?
Sounds like a shimmer reverb on the guitar.
You're right, it sounds exactly like it.
So can you gig with the BeatBuddy Mini 2 and the optional footswitch, or not?
You absolutely can! Although we usually recommend our full-size BeatBuddy for professional gigging musicians, it is possible for the MINI 2. Just make sure to plug the BeatBuddy Mini 2 into a PA or full-range speaker for the highest sound quality.

What are you plugged into?
Hello Andy what brand of tele are you playing ? it sounds super
Can I add guitar and best buddy mini into my instrument In? And record live?
Was that u Mr. Bojangle? Intro song slowed
Nice👌🏾
do i have to turn the knob to change the tempo , or with the footswitch
Ive got one bet never use i on live gigs, I cannot understand why no manufacturer has never thought of the most obvious solution to bending down to change the settings on the onboard footswitch why not separate the pedal from the controls?
epic wow

I assume this is a pedal board friendly 9v input? Would that be right ?

It's a shame that they still have not taken this on board. For the price they charge they should be able to produce a silent switch version.
What effect are you using during the "hip hop" example?
Could be the Boss Terra Echo. If not, it's some other shimmer reverb pedal.
Sounds like a modulated reverb with a long pre-delay, maybe the Procession from Old Blood ?
+Kelly Briggs Hey Kelly, that was "Shimmer" on the Digitech Supernatural.
Will this drum thing work for live gigs? Like country, blues and old time rock-a-billy and rock and roll? Thank you...
What if you didnt want fills?
Is Andy playin Mr.Bojangles
Wheres the bass comming from?
Andy's thumb.
How are the connections? Do you plug in your guitar into the mini, and then output to the amp?
Yes
Can this add a bridge?
Drums on these sound better than the Trio. Just wish they would make a version with bass.
People writing their own beats found a way to write bass on the larger one.
I use it for bass. If it could be added or taken out would be nice though.
It's can powered by dry baterai?
quick question. does a rithym have to start with a fill?? or can you have a simple count before rithym?
Misahel Valencia you can turn off the tempos. For a count on you need the full BeatBuddy
Will this work well with a looper pedal?
it's perfect :D
Why isn`t it available at PGS?
Can i reproduce only the sound of a bass drum with it ?
Guy Fournier no. Dr . Rhythm. By boss
Hi can you slow down the tempo ?? I like to play a lot of country and just wondering if this will give me the beats I am looking for. I only play at our family's party's but would like a good beat. Thanks
Rabbit Hunter yes you can
That's for the reply

same here
does it play bossa nova?
It says Brazil so yes
how to change the rock number if you dont have foot swtich
Anybody know what kind of Strat that is?
Does anyone know if this can be used directly into a audio interface (Zoom R16) ?
Can you do stop time with this ? or use a kill switch and come back to the beat.. AAHHHHHH !
Sounds like my 1992 Casio keyboard- cheesy. Especially the "one size fits all "crash.
This or Digitech Trio?
Birther Dan this one... trio is great but not for gigs.
Why not just make it bigger, with more switches? Then you won't need the extra controller...
+Endezeichen Grimm I suspect it's to keep the price down.
+Endezeichen Grimm thats why they make a $350 version

lol 1:50
Nice idea but you have to have something to run it through it's gonna sound like shit thru your amp
+dill doe It's for practice... It whoops the Trio.
Nope, it sounds fine. I use mine thru an old Crate amp
can you store programmes in it and alter the tempo?
You can alter tempo, but no storage. Only storage is on the regular full size version.
Intuitive rhythm pedals make this obsolete
OK for home practice.. Not for performance cuz no sequential memory for the patterns for your live set. Sounds are nominal.
I fear that Neil Peart will soon be out of a job. :(
The beat buddy doesn't write lyrics. Yet.
Kick a freestyle rap!
how about some Latin rhythms
