Girl! Your input is much appreciated, and I love the maps behind you. I have not seen a lot of career focused YT pages, especially environmental, so big up!
Learnt so much heyy ..thank you for such information..but then amid environmental matters n courses I would like to know any differences between the above mentioned "environmental science and environmental studies and environmental engineering..like.how' is environmental engineering different from these
Yes. Environmental Science is a scientific discipline that focuses on understanding the physical, chemical and biological aspects of the environment. It involves studying environmental systems and processes. Environmental and Resource Studies emphasizes a holistic understanding of environmental issues, sustainable use of resources and the social, economic and policy aspects of environmental challenges. The goal of is to explore the interactions between human activities and the environment plus develop strategies for sustainable development.
Can environmental management inform environmental science?. For example based on the outcome of management is it possible for management to inform the science?. i hope this question makes sense.
Yes, for example environmental management can identify gaps in scientific knowledge and highlight areas where further research is needed. It can also validify scientific findings since it applies scientific theories and models to real-world scenarios. Another plus I think is the fact that environmental management activities involve collection of data which is often valuable to scientists
Environmental Management is the father of the Environment. They manage and care for the environment. They are regulated. However, environmental sciences are just the sciences or tools used by Env. Managers. Envi. Sc are not regulated in most countries. Think of it as a Medical Doctor that cares about the human body, vs microbiologist or medical lab scientist. Env Managers are the doctors, while env science are like the chemist and microbiologist.
You can get entry jobs with just a diploma, but I highly recommend you do a Postgraduate qualification since there is a lot of competition in the job market. Plus you learn a lot more skills in Postgrad.
Hi Katlego. Does MA Environment and Society @UP falls under the sciences or management? Note that Environment and Society students literally attends all modules done under Msc degree.
Hi, I think it falls under management. I got this from the website: "On completion of the training, candidates should be conversant and be able to partake in, or render advice concerning, all aspects involved in the management of human-environmental interactions. This includes social impact assessments, policy formulation, etc."
Hi, thank you for this question 😊. Your day to day actually depends on the career path you decide to follow or role in which you are employed. I'll actually plan and record a video going into detail about different careers you can go into if you are studying environmental management
They are sisters with same mother called environmental science while the sisters are environmental Management, environmental engineering and environmental studies.
I don't have a straightforward answer for this, because people have different experiences. However I can say that I see a lot of internships being advertised, you just need to know where to look
So environmental studies and environmental management go hand in hand, seeing that Geography is the major when doing environmental studies, and environmental management is more practical?
