fun fact: the first episode of season 4 is actually storyboarded by C.H Greenblat. The creator of Chowder. That's why it looks slightly different than the other episodes you guys watched in this video.
That explains why some background and episodic characters look just weird and off in comparison to the established background characters. Those human-looking faces, those lips... ugh x'D
Now that it's mentioned, when Spongbob's face shrinks after Mr.Krabs tells him to cook 100,000 Krabby Patties, or when Mr.Krabs tells Spongebob he needs to see a professional and Spongebob says "Wrestler?". It does give me a lot of Chowder vibes, or like I can see Chowder doing or saying this! I've seen this episode so many times, and not once noticed until now. x^D
Post movie SpongeBob isn't immediately bad, it's fall from grace is more gradual with time. A lot of season 4 is actually really good, especially in the beginning. Every joke in "Fear of the Krabby Patty just lands, and I love the courtroom drama in "Krabs vs. Plankton."
Nah, I’m standing by the fact that season 5 and 6 are amazing (I think S6 is absolutely hilarious with a few stinkers here and there). Season 7 and especially 8 are very inconsistent in quality, the first half of season 9 is very dull, but after that the show greatly picks up again.
It just becomes inconsistent. There are good episodes but not all of them are good. Not like how seasons 1-3 were great. Personally i like post movie spongebob era from 2004-07 which is probably season 5 or 6
Fear of a Krabby Patty is my favorite episode of the whole series. I swear every single joke in it lands, on top of the godly animation and expressions.
Thank CH Greenblatt, creator of Harvey Beaks and Chowder, for the expressions. This was his final episode he worked on. In fact I think this is the only episode where he was the sole storyboard director. Other episodes where he was storyboard director, he would work alongside Kaz. He would voice Carl in a later season 4 episode Selling Out though.
I know Stephen Hillenburg left after the movie, but I like to consider Season 4 as part of the SpongeBob Golden Age, since it still preserves the humor and style of the first three seasons.
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 that’s completely fair. I can agree with that. It just still feels like S1-3 with a lot of the humor so I see it as part of the Golden Age

I mean, I wouldn’t willingly watch it 24/7 and a lot of the criticisms are justified, but there’s still a few gems, not a ton tho… (yeah, I’m one of those people that likes finding the good in the modern episodes, which as you can imagine can be very difficult)
Season 4 is about as good as Season 1, and Season 5 has a few stinkers but is also pretty strong. Once Season 6 hits though, the show falls off a cliff and doesn’t claw its way out until Season 10.
Season 5 is the start of the true downfall, starting with that disgusting fungus episode, characters get one dimensional and the adult humor is gone, too kid friendly, season 1-4 were great and a lot of season 4 episodes were made before the movie by og writers but released later so it has some good episodes.
Seasons 4 and 5 kept most of the writing team from the first 3 seasons, so there won't be a noticeable change for awhile. Honestly, the only change I noticed was a slightly higher focus on violence and gross close-ups.

I just wanted to thank you guys for these videos. I’ve been going through some rough personal stuff lately, and I’ve been playing the SpongeBob reaction videos on the daily. It makes my days slightly better.
Season 4, to me is alright. Admittedly, I was one of the lot that fell off of the show when it was on the air, but after a while, it caught my attention with some fun and memorable episodes like this first batch and others that I return to occasionally.
0:57 SpongeBob doesn’t go widescreen until around 2012 or 2013 but, the intro stays 4:3 until 2016. They did widescreen for specials only before they went full time.
Something that people don't know is that, the first episodes of season 4 were made while they're were making the first movie, around late 2004, this includes Fear of a Krabby patty, Skill crane, shell of a man and others, and other episodes like, Patrick smartpants, Enemy in law were Ideas that they had during Season 3 that they never got the chance to make, if you think that Season 4 is all bad and is not part of Spongebob's golden age, you might want to think twice, I know sesson 4 wasn't as great and consistent as Seasons 1-3 were but, it's still really good, and some episodes can go toe to toe with episodes from those Classic seasons, so for me, Season 4 is part of the Golden age, even if it can create some bad episodes along the way
So excited for this, let's go! Season 3 and 4 are my personal favorite seasons of Spongebob and I still throughly enjoyed most episodes after Season 4 (until I stopped watching TV and with it Spongebob at around Season 8/9). Hope you'll have as great a time as I did!
I think I said this before but for the record, in my opinion.- Season 4 is a dip in quality but some episodes could totally be seen as pre-movie quality. Season 5 is another dip but some episodes can be seen as Season 4 quality and about two can be seen as pre movie quality. Season 6 is a MASSIVE dip in quality though.
Idk, season 3 is pretty much rock solid, imo. Maybe one of the strongest seasons of any comedy show I’ve watched. I’m very much of the opinion that season 4 was just off and not as funny, and I haven’t watched much since then. That’s just me.
Season 4 is awesome; one of my favorite seasons because they don’t try to do exactly what they did before and I think it pays off spectacularly. An episode like Have You Seen This Snail would not be in any other season of the show.
People are so dramatic about the decline in quality lmao. Yeah some episodes make me groan and roll my eyes but they aren't the worst thing ever like some people claim. Sure, they just aren't as good as the first three seasons, but the first three seasons are the best of the best, and the best is just hard to beat
Season 4 feels like a reset watching it again as an adult. Although seasons 1 to 3 are considered the golden era, i include season 4, because it contains the last episodes i vividly remember before i checked out of Spongebob and moved onto solely live action shows and adult cartoons
Really happy you guys are doing post-movie era. I’m actually of the opinion that Season 4 is better than Season 1, the latter being about the same as Season 5. While 2 & 3 are undoubtedly the best of Spongebob, I still really do enjoy most of what the series has to offer. (Yes, Seasons 6-8 all have gems hidden in the rough.... or the *Ruff,* if you will.) Hope ya’ll give it a fair chance! :))
I understand that Hillenburg left the show and considered the movie to be the finale. However, i still enjoy some later SpongeBob episodes. But most draw the line at "Camp Koral" because the creator was against the idea and they deliberately waited until his death to put it into production.
@mr.monkey354 Yeah, by created you mean Stephen made a joke to Paul Tibbitt years ago and the new President at Nick asked for more stuff based off SpongeBob. Hillenburg literally said they would officially have run out of ideas when we go back to when they were little kids. Look it up. This wasn't his baby. It was a cash-in. If you like the show, fine but don't accuse me of slander. I do my research.
i don't remember exactly when spongebob drops in quality, but it does eventually. i'm actually surprised that armor abs crabs was in season 4. i remember that being a classic episode.
I love that you guys passed #ItstotallyCody and #Nickflix on the Spongebob reactions 😂 I know there's no competition but you guys are close to each other on episodes you upload 🔥
Season 4 is a joy ride, that Magic Conch is wrong. Seasons 5 through 9 have some serious stinkers, but they’re pretty spread out. We’re in for some fun! Fear of a Krabby Patty is probably my favorite episode of the season. Oh, and continuity? Throw it out the fucking window now. Almost all these episodes are just for fun.
lol you're gonna have to wait a while for it to go widescreen remember these are still coming out in like 2005, widescreen TV didn't become standard in the US until analog signals were discontinued in 2009
9:52 Out of all the other scary Spongebob moments you guys reacted to in the past, this one by far is still the most haunting moment of Spongebob for me
I don’t see why people give the later seasons terrible credit the episodes i enjoy come later like dunces and dragons, Atlantis squarepantis, the tales of bikini bottom the one with the monster, mermaids, trenchbillies, the hag, and the volcano, and the claymation episode are really good
For me I remember slowly noticing how different Spongebob got after the movie. Season 4 has some good episodes that I feel were leftover material from the previous seasons. But it all nosedives by the end of the season. Starting with "Patrick Smartpants" I believe. I remember being excited for new episodes to come out and if just wasn't the same.
I'm quite a bit younger than y'all so I did grow up in this era of Spongebob. There are definitely still a lot of episodes I like in the next few seasons. But I will admit, especially looking at the Spongebob list of episodes, most of the gold was in the first three seasons.
1:39 I kinda wonder what would have happened if Flats was at the entrance to the Salty Splatoon at the same time as SpongeBob in the episode No Weenies. Would SpongeBob have been allowed in if they found out the sort of punches he could take?
I vividly remember Fear of a Krabby Patty for being the first episode where even as a kid I noticed something was vastly different with the animation, I now know it's because of storyboarding stuff and/or different animators but I remember for years it stuck out in my mind
I think the reason SpongeBob looks brighter is because they switched over to digital animation for season 4, he was always that bright, it’s just the ceil animation process couldn’t have that bright of colors
Just goes to show that not all these 'golden' moments are in the Golden era. We still haven't reached handsome Squidward, Plankton roasting a family, "Hi, how are ya?" and "Who put you on the planet? Ugh." yet
@@thepandorica1660technically speaking most of the staff was still working on fear of a krabby pattie it was until the next episode a shell of a man they decided to do something else

I’m joining the military and I’m gonna miss out on the new SpongeBob/teen titans and Ben 10 reactions. But I’ve enjoyed discovering your channel thus far!
We all looked down on SpongeBob post movie, and I admit I'm no different, but in retrospect, season 4 was not a stinker. I genuinely thought that "Fear of the Krabby Patty" as an s3 story. And the one about the mattress and Krabs' navy reunion are both personal favorites of mine. That last one almost feels like something Hillenburg would have come up with.
That's mostly because the first episodes of season 4 were made while they're making the movie, around late 2004, these include, Fear of a krabby patty, Skill crane, Shell of a man, the lost matress, and if I'm correct Krusty towers
Season 4 and onward is when the series started getting like higher def, so it looks a bit different and the design for spongebobe became a bit more squares and they use perspectives a bit more.
I'm glad you guys kept watching SpongeBob after the movie. But just a heads up: if you really don't want to fall in the toxic rabbit hole that is the SpongeBob fan base, I recommend after you guys are done with Season 5, watch one of the Season 13 or Season 14 episodes to see if you are really still interested in watching it for fun. (I still stand on it getting worse as the seasons go on after season 5.) (Also sorry for my bad writing, English isn't my first language. Lol.)
Season 4 was one of the funniest seasons ever but I still hate one creepy fact Since movie's realase, animators were tired of making it, when season 4 was ready to be watched by community in nickelodeon studios, four people prepared to watch, but in horror twist it wasn't a fear of a krabby patty, it was none other than red mist, famously known as squidward's suicide, and whenever I watch spongebob movie 2004 or fear of the krabby patty I always get reminded that between these such a horrible creepy pasta came

I think I said this before but for the record, in my opinion.-
Season 4 is a dip in quality but some episodes could totally be seen as pre-movie quality. Season 5 is another dip but some episodes can be seen as Season 4 quality and about two can be seen as pre movie quality. Season 6 is a MASSIVE dip in quality though.
True.
Same
Feel like Mr Krabs get away with too much and little to no consequences
"I arranged them into a piano" is my favorite line from spongebob
Even with the older episodes, consistency was never SpongeBob's strong suit
And things only got worse with Kamp Koral
That’s right
Idk, season 3 is pretty much rock solid, imo. Maybe one of the strongest seasons of any comedy show I’ve watched. I’m very much of the opinion that season 4 was just off and not as funny, and I haven’t watched much since then. That’s just me.
1:19 And here I thought this was a respectful channel, you cheeky crumpet! 🤣
1:00 yeah they didnt go widescreen until 2012, keep in mind this episode aired in may of 2005, almost 19 years ago
Season 4 is awesome; one of my favorite seasons because they don’t try to do exactly what they did before and I think it pays off spectacularly. An episode like Have You Seen This Snail would not be in any other season of the show.
You can already see the joke structure changing
People are so dramatic about the decline in quality lmao. Yeah some episodes make me groan and roll my eyes but they aren't the worst thing ever like some people claim. Sure, they just aren't as good as the first three seasons, but the first three seasons are the best of the best, and the best is just hard to beat
the level spongebob can either withstand stuff vs gets destroyed by anything changes based on episode plot
Season 4 feels like a reset watching it again as an adult. Although seasons 1 to 3 are considered the golden era, i include season 4, because it contains the last episodes i vividly remember before i checked out of Spongebob and moved onto solely live action shows and adult cartoons
yall just bullying mr krabs is funny asf😭
Really happy you guys are doing post-movie era. I’m actually of the opinion that Season 4 is better than Season 1, the latter being about the same as Season 5. While 2 & 3 are undoubtedly the best of Spongebob, I still really do enjoy most of what the series has to offer. (Yes, Seasons 6-8 all have gems hidden in the rough.... or the *Ruff,* if you will.)
Hope ya’ll give it a fair chance! :))
I understand that Hillenburg left the show and considered the movie to be the finale. However, i still enjoy some later SpongeBob episodes. But most draw the line at "Camp Koral" because the creator was against the idea and they deliberately waited until his death to put it into production.
According to an interview, Stephen said the first movie will always serve as the finale, since the Krusty Krab 2 didn't reappear after that
False Information, Stephen actually approved of lamp koral not long before his death so stop besmirching him by putting words in his mouth.
The episode: Krabs vs Plankton
How i see: Better Call Spongebob
Fun Fact: at 16:16 when Mr. Krabs says “What in the blue-eyed scallop”, it’s because real-life scallops have blue eyes (up to 200, in fact)
The Piano Joke Never Gets Old😂😅😂😅
i don't remember exactly when spongebob drops in quality, but it does eventually. i'm actually surprised that armor abs crabs was in season 4. i remember that being a classic episode.
Quite a few season 4 episodes feel like classic SpongeBob.
@@MadMax-ii8gq"most"
well season 4 is 19 years old, wouldn't you call that age classic?
as many have said, and it mirrors my opinion, season 4 has a lot of bangers, but after that the really good episodes are rarer and rarer
“What’s UK subtitles?”
It’s where words like colour and centre are spelled correctly 😛
I don't wanna give away too much. But in a later season Mr Krabs actually does kiss his money goodnight. So SpongeBob's impression clearly hit a nerve
I love that you guys passed #ItstotallyCody and #Nickflix on the Spongebob reactions 😂 I know there's no competition but you guys are close to each other on episodes you upload 🔥
True. They'll never catch up with the the Quirky Quota boys though 😅
season 4 is one of my favorite seasons fr
5:41 Spongebob's eyelids busted open with ripped paper
Season 1-5 are good. People say after the movie it goes way down hill, but a lot of jokes I remember are actually from season 4
The first three seasons are Peak
SpongeBob but they're still plenty of episodes afterwards that are also great
From what I have recently learned, S4 is regarded as the fall of SB due to what happened with the “Best Day Ever” special.
loool
Which was?
@Benjamillion it was overhyped and gassed hard by commercials but it wasn't anything great at all.
@@SuzukiCabs Ah okay. I was just on my way out of high school to be moving on from the show so I didn't know too much from the post movie specials
I love watching your reaction to spongebob squarepants guys. Keep it up
Season 4 is a joy ride, that Magic Conch is wrong.
Been loving these reactions. So many memories. This channel is great
I’m just realizing Mr. Krabs’ first tattoo is an early indication of the episode’s plot
Fun fact about the court episode, severel lawyer react to it and they agree how the case is actually almost accurate....
Maybe that's why Sonic Boom basically copy/pasted the episode
3:22 Boom: That is the most creepy face.
Me: ummm...
He better wait until later episodes and seasons for the real "creepy af" faces xD
"Is there something wrong with me...?"
"Nice license. Can I touch it?"
@@uncannydcmarvelous5732 Choir Boys.
Plankton: Potato.
SpongeBob: Potahto.
Plankton: Tomato.
SpongeBob: Tomahto.
lol you're gonna have to wait a while for it to go widescreen
remember these are still coming out in like 2005, widescreen TV didn't become standard in the US until analog signals were discontinued in 2009
6:33 If listen closely the ringtone is a short version of the SpongeBob theme song.
9:52 Out of all the other scary Spongebob moments you guys reacted to in the past, this one by far is still the most haunting moment of Spongebob for me
Spongebob definitely gets lighter after the movie. He gets alot more bright and silly the later the seasons get.
It's scary how that Magic Konche have ACTUALLY been kinda true so far!! 😱
8:27 Even as a kid, I always appreciated the foreshadowing here.
I don’t see why people give the later seasons terrible credit the episodes i enjoy come later like dunces and dragons, Atlantis squarepantis, the tales of bikini bottom the one with the monster, mermaids, trenchbillies, the hag, and the volcano, and the claymation episode are really good
To clarify, some episodes are good, others are bland and forgettable.
Also Trenchbillies gave vibes of redneck incest, so I found that episode uncomfortable
lol You know Mr.Krabs was furious when he said All “my”money was in that mattress instead of all “me”
Fear of the Krabby Patty is the episode where Squidward is goated. Who wants to work for a very long period. It's like they never left home.
That’s right
For me I remember slowly noticing how different Spongebob got after the movie. Season 4 has some good episodes that I feel were leftover material from the previous seasons. But it all nosedives by the end of the season. Starting with "Patrick Smartpants" I believe. I remember being excited for new episodes to come out and if just wasn't the same.
17:46 Look how the tables..... have "turned!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm quite a bit younger than y'all so I did grow up in this era of Spongebob. There are definitely still a lot of episodes I like in the next few seasons. But I will admit, especially looking at the Spongebob list of episodes, most of the gold was in the first three seasons.
Finally new season, i hope you'll be reacting to season 5 as well ❤
We are in uncharted waters fellas, this is gonna be fun! 💜
23:38 Does Plankton want to steal the formula or does he want to eat a Krabby Patty?(Plankton is the Gargamel of SpongeBob)
I think the reason SpongeBob looks brighter is because they switched over to digital animation for season 4, he was always that bright, it’s just the ceil animation process couldn’t have that bright of colors
I can’t believe the “I wanna live!!!” Is not in the golden era
Just goes to show that not all these 'golden' moments are in the Golden era. We still haven't reached handsome Squidward, Plankton roasting a family, "Hi, how are ya?" and "Who put you on the planet? Ugh." yet
@@thepandorica1660technically speaking most of the staff was still working on fear of a krabby pattie it was until the next episode a shell of a man they decided to do something else
Season 4 is part of the golden era
15:31 the SpongeBob parallel to IKEA.
I think i watched spongebob seasons leading up to the 2nd movie
And that would be... up to season 9.
But i think the last season I'd say is most memorable is probably season 6
The season where the "Hi, I'm Normal " episode happened
I mean, if your customers slip on the water UNDERWATER, then your floors are really not safe
These episodes are still good these are the ones I remember and I think the next one is gonna be the sad who remember the Gary one😥
I’m joining the military and I’m gonna miss out on the new SpongeBob/teen titans and Ben 10 reactions. But I’ve enjoyed discovering your channel thus far!
While it may not reach the consistent high of season 3, season 4 has some really great episodes that I'm looking forward to
the good seasons of post movie spongebob.
season 4
season 5
season 9b
season 10
season 11
season 12
Everything is great season 12 no it has some bad episodes the nitwiting is not a good one to start the season of in my opinion.
@@andrewbaillie5549 fair point although the olny episode in season 12 i hated was the nitwitting.
2:29 I say this when I'm tired now 😂
Moulted mr.krab color is look like krabby patty that spongebob cooked earlier 😂.
Oh wait a minute 😳
Lol i love you guys and I always love every single one of you guys videos and reactions 😂❤
Lol.)
6:33 why is that his ringtone?
Season 4 was one of the funniest seasons ever but I still hate one creepy fact
Since movie's realase, animators were tired of making it, when season 4 was ready to be watched by community in nickelodeon studios, four people prepared to watch, but in horror twist it wasn't a fear of a krabby patty, it was none other than red mist, famously known as squidward's suicide, and whenever I watch spongebob movie 2004 or fear of the krabby patty I always get reminded that between these such a horrible creepy pasta came
