It may seem not worth the money or effort, but I have a S-series Harris that I changed the feet to take Atlas accessories. That way I don’t have to invest in 2 different feet type, I can interchange them. I also have the tension screw model that I have after market tension screws that are more arms that turn a quarter turn to lock them... The only reason I did invest the money is because the Harris is lighter and faster to deploy than the Atlas. I use my Atlas bipods on rifles in competitions that don’t have a lot of deploying and retracting of the bipod. Great review, thanks.
Two more things on the Magpul. If you loosen the thumb screw and rotate the base like you did, it will lock out the pan completely without effecting swivel. It will also accept Atlas feet.
@@8541tactical I've had mine for a month or more, but haven't even had a chance to mount it on a rifle. Still, it seems like a lot of bipod for the money.
I used Harris on my bolt rifles for years, even have one on an AR15 for plinking. But last year I got a AR10 platform 6.5 and decided I would spend the extra and try the Atlas bipod. Man oh man! I can't take anything away from the Harris, they are great. But will say that any future bipods I purchase will be an Altas. I got the Atlas with rail QD, now I switch the Atlas on rifles. Expensive bipod but to me, well worth the cost.
Knights armorments makes a harris qd adapter that pans and swivels. It doesn't attach to the original swivel mount, it replaces it. so there is no added weight or height. They run around $70 but it's well worth it
Hey John! in regard to bipods, I really think you should have a look at a Norwegian produced bipod from Vertebrae. Its called the Vertebrae Fusion Bipod. In my opinion its probably one of the best ones out there. Love your content John! Cheers! :)
I had one of the legs of a harris swivel 9-13 give out on me while I was in the mountains. Never touched one since. I know people love them, I know various militaries love em, I know they're the standard... but nope. Confidence shaken. Bought an atlas psr and a few bits for it. It seems thats how I'm going for the foreseeable futue.
Try the Knights Armorments panning swivel qd mount for the harris, it replaces the saddle looking mount from the harris giving you added features without added height or weight $70
@@mr.lovell3645 Not true. You are thinking of Accu-Shot, which are the monopods made by B&T Industries (maker of Atlas). The AccuTac is a top tier bipod made in USA by AccuTac. I've used both for the last 2+ years. The AccuTac SR5-QD and the Accu-Shot BT31. Perfect height match and an unbelievably solid platform for prone shooting. AccuTac is in a class by itself imo.
You should get MDT to send you one of the new CKYE pods now that they've bought the design. Also way cheaper than the original (though still pretty spendy). I'd love to hear your take on it vs. the atlas PSR.
Quick question I just got a Remington 700 with a hunter stock I. 6.5 creedmore. I would like to get into long range. Any ideas of a rail mount and scope. For rail I was thinking badger ordnance and a spuhr mount. I have no clue on scope. Thank you for your work. Keep it up!
Atlas Bipods are a great product if not the best . But what they charge for them is a rapping , I would love to have one but I refuse to pay there price .
I didn’t know anyone could discuss bipods longer than Nutnfancy....I will save everyone the agony of 45 minutes and cut to the chase, just buy the Atlas!
Curious to hear your thoughts on a Howa 1500 barreled action. Looking to build an entry level precision rifle with a 24" or 26" 6.5 creedmoor howa barreled action.
John are you going to come out with a review for that Magpul chassis. I would really like to know your opinion on it as that is a chassis I am really considering. I currently do not have a chassis on my rifle that I plan on getting into PRS with.
Actually can you tell me now if I should buy it or do you recommend something else. I have budgeted for it. It’ll be for a 6.5 Creedmoor 24 inch barrel vortex razor gen2. I have also been quoted for a price under $800 as well.
Hey, John. I tried looking up some reloading stuff you did years ago, but YT made you take it down. Any idea on if/when you will upload it to Full30???
'' under the clock '' aaaah ..the b/s games people play ...what ever happen to just a sling , or the back pack off your back ,... no cunt rear bag , no pussy tri-pod ...jam it into your shoulder and shoot like a man ..fucking game players suck
That magpul pro chassis is super nice.
By far the most comprehensive, detailed and best bipod review on the internet.
If you unscrew the bottom knob you can lock it in place.
Magpul is really doing their homework.
Harris with the RRS adaptor and a kmw lever is my favorite combo. Super smooth and locks up tight.

You actually have to rotate the "ring" independent of the legs and tighten it back down. It is marked on the ring, but it isn't intuitive.

Awesome. Was so good I was sad it ended. Good to have a South African represent us
Thanks for the detailed info John. Always look forward to MCMs!
Me: man I need a taller bipod... I wish someone I trusted had a video that covered the new stuff.
John: hold my beer
Right?!?
John is the guy I have been asking about this stuff literally for years.

Glad I'm not the only one with atlas turning 90deg in use

Have you looked at the FAB Defense Spike Bipod? It’s pretty new.
No Accutac? I think they solved a lot of the problems you mentioned all in one package.
pretty sure that Atlas is Accutac…. made by B&T...

In the market for another bipod soon... any chance of that magpul bipod review coming out soon?

Cyke-Pod needs to be included in review...good overview tho otherwise!!
I'm also interested in a review of the ckye-pod
John,Would the Magpul bipod hold up on a 338 Lapua Magnum rifle in your opinion?
Have you/will you review the pro 700 chasis? I’d love to know you thoughts on it as an experienced shooter.

Nice
How closely does the UTG Recon compare, as a budget alternative?
I have not used that one yet.

I love my Howa in 6.5 Creed. It shoots amazingly well with the big boys. 1000 yards at the range is never an issue. The action buttery smooth.

I knew you'd mention Garand Thumb and you'd cry about your poor life choices.
