Thank you for 300 amazing episodes. I'm so glad I found this channel. It helps me relax at the end of the day.
Also, as a person who used to be nervous about my R and L difficulties before speach therapy, I love how you've embraced it (some older videos mentioned it, now it's just like "you want kickass science content? Buckle up and listen up ").

Natural or unnatural the source of extinction, it doesn’t matter. Life itself is a gift, by its very nature it has an obligation to ensure its own propagation is possible.

Congrats! I think going by weekly is a good benchmark for your progress because you've worked so hard to make it work. Also, I like the ever-increasing number set shows progress, and theres no reason to stop and have seasons as all your videos are evergreen and can be watched in any order anyway. And between the 2 I would work the hardest to break out and failing that create as many new universes as I could. So Hot is just my speed.

5:45 I agree with your point that people who appose something on the grounds of it being “unnatural” are idiots. But I disagree with the idea that “natural” is people sitting in trees and “unnatural” is people living in cities on its face, as it makes the assumption that human beings are anything other than completely natural.
Human beings, human intelligence, and human civilization are all completely natural phenomenon, a city may be built by people but that does no more to separate it from nature than an anthill being built by ants does, or termite mounds by termites. Our evolution and present actions were the inevitable result of the events that came before us, guided by the laws of physics and evolution. Me writing this comment right now was implicit in the boundary conditions of the Big Bang, the thoughts flickering through my head as bioelectricity follow neural paths as predictably as water flows down to the ocean.
P != NP, so it’s impossible for us to predict our own future actions, just as it is impossible for a computer to tell if a program is eventually going to halt, but that doesn’t mean that the computer halting or not isn’t deterministic, simply that it’s deterministic path cannot be calculated in polynomial time. - And this is logically coherent, since if we _could_ predict our own future accurately, we ourselves would be a part of that system, which means we’d need to predict our own reaction to the prediction, which would change the prediction, requiring us to calculate it again and again in an infinite recursive loop as any possible output would change the outcome and render the previous prediction void. (And that’s assuming you could gather the values of the relevant variables to begin with).
But nevertheless, whichever outcome ends up manifesting itself would be the only route things ever could have gone, the natural course of the world of which humans are one small part. Whether humankind flourishes or dies out, whether we build satellites or retreat to the trees, there is no escaping nature because we ourselves are an aspect of it and it follow everywhere we go. Like the lifecycle of a star, it may end in a supernova or a black hole or simply a gradual dimming, but whichever it does will be the result if the underlying physics and it’s starting conditions, from which it cannot possibly escape. Because a star doesn’t have Free Agency, it can only act in accordance with its nature, as do we.
Your body and thoughts are just the macroscopic manifestation of values in the underlying quantum fields, their behavior is natural, and any macroscopic phenomenon (opaque though they may appear) are simply the sum of their smaller quantum constituent parts, and this by definition are always natural.
Science is Natural Philosophy, a rational method for the pursuit of understanding of the natural world. Anything and everything that can be accurately described by the scientific method is a part of Nature. And human beings can be accurately described by science, therefore human beings too are natural.
People who say we shouldn’t do things because they’re unnatural are idiots, not because the unnatural is good and the natural is bad (or visa versa) but simply because the dichotomy does not exist to begin with. There has never been anything unnatural in the history of reality, and there never will be. There’s only aspects of nature that certain individuals may not understand, yet.
The iPad I’m typing this on was produced by natural forces, the same as me, or anything else. It is a naturally occurring object, created by the process of evolution as it acts through human beings. Like a beaver dam. It’s complexity is a result of being built by a species who evolved larger brains, not a change in underlying nature.
Nature cannot be subverted, because any attempt at subversion would itself be a natural process.
