I don't think Lew lew watched free solo... The relationship between the camera crew and Alex (the climber) was made very clear. He literally did say he can't do it the first time and put off the project for a while. The thing you don't realise is that he wanted to climb the thing before he even thought of making the movie. They did say they all had a serious talk of if something happens what do they do and that they aren't responsible and so on it was very well thought through and the movie conveys that clearly.

simple lyrics and a catchy bass line is all a good pop song needs. but that's the thing, the criteria for a good pop song and a good song are definitely different.
As an example, The Prodigy were releasing singles that were hitting the top 10 charts at the same time as B'Witched were. I think Pyrion's point is the most accurate and Sips is overlooking some of the great music in the last 20 years that might not really be "pop" but sold big numbers and were in the pop charts, as The Beatles did in their time.

My mom used to let me listen to nothing but country music because everything else was about sex and drugs and bad habits ( ..yes, there is a lot of irony there ), and then I went to a friend's house and heard backstreet boys playing on her radio and was just like THIS..
