There seems to be some confusion in the comments over saving Kelly in ME2, so allow me to expand on what I said in the video. There are TWO separate mission timers to be aware of - one after you complete the Reaper IFF and a second one after the crew is kidnapped. I was talking about that second timer in this video, NOT the Reaper IFF timer. It's possible to complete 1-2 loyalty missions after acquiring the Reaper IFF, BEFORE the Collectors kidnap your crew. BUT once your crew is kidnapped, the second timer starts and you need to launch the suicide mission immediately or at least some of your crew will die. If you do everything right it's possible to do all squadmates' loyalty missions before your crew gets kidnapped. For example: 1) Do all squadmates' loyalty missions prior to Reaper IFF mission (except for Legion since you won't have him yet) 2) Do the Reaper IFF mission 3) Do Legion's loyalty mission BEFORE the Collectors kidnap your crew 4) Collectors kidnap your crew and Joker saves the Normandy [THIS is the point where you can't complete any additional missions without Kelly dying] 5) Launch the suicide mission and save everyone Hopefully, this makes it clearer.

For my first playthrough of ME3, I went full paragon. It broke my heart when I found out Kelly's fate after the Cerberus attack on the Citadel. I vowed never to let it happen again.
I'm playing mostly paragon except when the other option seems to be safer or actually more helpful to others. Luckily I told her to disguise herself before I saw this video. I was wondering if she would have survived if I just told her to help refugees. I guess not.
That is also an odd omission, they already have the character model and when in the game they are already on the citadel, so they probably only need a few lines for the character and like one recording session. Pretty much peanuts compared to the overall budget of that DLC. Plus if you got to the point of being close to them, it seems odd of Shepard to leave them stuck around in the crowded refuge center once they acquire the apartment with multiple bedrooms, which at most rarely use either of.

When the collectors take the crew, you get 2 missions before kelly and half the crew die. The game gives you a chance to have everyone loyalty before the suicide mission and save everyone.

But I didnt know it gave you 2 Missions before the Crew Die's, Thanks for that!
The best thing to do is to just hold off on Reaper IFF until you have all loyalty missions completed. You get Legion during Reaper IFF and his loyalty mission becomes available immediately afterwards. This is usually the only mission I do, along with some time waster N7 operations, before the Collector attack. This way everything is ready for the finale. Unlike some of the other story missions (Horizon, Collector Ship) the game does not force you to the derelict Reaper. So you can take your time getting to it.
I didn’t romance anyone in me2 but Kelly. I was very surprised that after the collector base you can invite her to your room and she’ll show up dressed like a dancer from the afterlife bar. She’ll even dance in your room and Shepard will watch
I was wondering why Kelly wasn't there on my most recent play through, I went on the mission almost immediately after the invasion but only Chakwas and some others were alive. I guess doing Legion's loyalty mission first doomed her.
Thanks for the reminder that you have to choose a Renegade option in ME3. I had forgotten about that part. I just wrapped up ME2 with my platinum yesterday so I'll be ready to dive back into the final game soon (taking an FFVII Remake Yuffie DLC intermission in between)
You can do one last loyalty mission and still save your whole crew. I usually do Tali's or Liegionn's loyalty mission last, I normally play as a paragon BTW.
One thing I recently figured out, it's not "Missions" that it counts in ME2. It's RELAY jumps! I recently did a completionist playthrough in ME2 and ran out of minerals right before I needed to go save the crew. I jumped to other systems without doing any missions or even leaving the Normandy in order to mine some Platinum and they still died.
Maybe it's because you had all missions completed? Since there's nothing else to base the timer on, it might default to looking at relay jumps because you have nothing else to do. I know that if you only have 1 mission left after the IFF (Legion's loyalty) then it will default to activating the IFF after only one mission, so it pays attention to these sorts of edge cases.
Okay, I'm glad you clarified things in the pinned note because in my second playthrough I managed to complete all loyalty missions - including the DLC characters - and still save more of the regular crew, including Kelly. The "launch immediately" is probably what's making some players go "waitaminute" because I'm sure I'm not the only one who managed to do a no-loss suicide run while saving most of the kidnapped crew.
I still wish there was more to her story in the remaster especially after the reapers take the citadel, even after you change her Id is she part of the survivors fighting back or did she get processed, or given most of her story was completed pre citadel dlc with zero changes included it would be good if you can persuade her to join the crew at that point thus saving her life and filling a post in the war room helping trainer to assist refugees movement etc
I heard originally she was supposed to have a bit more content in ME3 but of course due to E.A rushing the releasing it was cut. I wish/hope they will add more content like that in the remaster
Tech she would. If you never convinced her to leave Ceberus, then later the elusive man rolls out his reaper "improvements" for all personal. Chambers would become a semihusk upgrade. Not canon but following the logical outcome, I forsee her death in this path too.
All Cerberus personnel were turned into husk hybrids by the higher ups. Meaning if you did not romance her or flirted with her, she would still be with Cerberus thus she would just be a husk.
Oh I have an idea for a video how about an all romance option video that explains everyone in the game you can romance and how many if anybody you can romance simultaneously along with primary and secondary romance options and how that affects the story in the game depending on who if anyone you pick
I managed to do all loyalty missions and still save the full crew in my playthrough, but I did it by getting IFF last and doing Legion’s mission after immediately before finishing the game.
@@BigDanGaming You can also leave Tali's loyalty mission until after the Reaper, and you will have time to do both hers and Legion's before the Collector attack. Probably *specifically* so you can take Legion to Tali's loyalty mission.
First time I played ME3, I didn't know she died during the attack. I thought she just left. I felt kinda bad afterwards. I mean, not too bad, I never felt much for her, but still. :P
I remember that you can find David in Grissom Academy, and he gives you access to a room with a gun inside. And Gavin, you find him along with the other defectors being guarded by Jacob. What's interesting is that he just outright shoots himself if you refuse to tell him what happened to his brother.
i Saved Kelly from The Collector's but i did not know about the other possibility and that we can find her in me 3 great work, i thought i knew everything but on this channel i found new stuff great for Legendary Edition.
Soon as Kelly became even a little flirty with Shep, I realized she's almost certainly been instructed to help Shepard 'relieve stress' by the Illusive Man. Just part of the job.
Because Paragon should be naive/stupid and Renegade should be smart/shroud. And the chances of backfiring should depend on the situation. Can't understand people who "choose to play" only paragon or renegade. Different situations require different approaches. A good mix of both (with emphasis on Renegade is way better) Like the Eclipse girl in me2. You are told eclipse kill to join and you are NOT suppose to shoot her on sight just because she's babblings now?
I also believe that if you go on the suicide mission as soon as possible, you can save both Gabby and Ken, if i recollect it correctly one of them die if you dont hit the collector base immediately, i usually do everything possible before retrieving the Reaper IFF. Only thing remaining after retrieving it is Legions loyalty mission.
Hu... never knew you could save her and it provided extra stuff. I might just have to go back through and play it all over again to see what's up :) Thanks for these videos, it actually makes me want to play again and see everything that apparently I missed. I only ever focused on my crewmates because i changed from xbox to ps3 after ME2 came out so i missed out on a lot from me previous save that I might actually buy it for the PC again so I don't miss any further possible interactions between new releases. Cheers mate!
Never even knew you could do this since I usually play paragon. You should do a video of the best renegade (bottom) choices for people playing paragon. Things like destroy the geth heretics or this. And maybe a best paragon options for renegade players. Basically, avoiding options that result in some kind of negative outcome I guess.
Problem with this is you can't hold back Tali's loyalty mission until you've got Legion and take him with you to Tali's trail for shits and giggles because then it means doing two loyalty missions after the Reaper IFF.
You can actually spawn her by editing your save file with Gibbed save editor for ME3, just check 2 boxes for calling Kelly to your cabin and having dinner with her, you dont have to check box for Kelly dancing for you. You can call it cheating but it's minor tweak it if you ask me.
Also, in case people are worried about 100%, you can complete any missions you didn't before Collector Base, after you finish the game. Mass Effect 2 is the only game in the series that does not reload you right before the final battle. As long as squadmates are alive after the Base, you can complete any and all missions besides the story missions. This includes all DLC missions, nontimed tasks, and miscellaneous assignments. You can even do loyalty missions that you both did not complete, and whose squad mate is still living. All missions and decisions made after the base are imported to ME3, and there is even special dialogue for many if you complete the missions after the Collector Base.
I teared up over her death, not gunna lie. So many emotional parts in me3. You can also hear about it in the docks where she was. A pair of turians talk about it.
I missed out on seeing Kelly in 3 when playing Legendary edition as I had her from my 360 and had to search up how I messed up. I realized from this vid that I did not flirt enough with Kelly and I never took her to dinner. I was too loyal with Liara for my Male Shepard and I goofed up with my Female.
I didn't have either of the engineers on the Normandy at that time on my ship and I also didn't even notice her in the refugee camp so I discovered she died from a data pad on the level.
You can also learn about her death in ME3 if you go back to the refugee camp, you can talk to someone there who says that a cerberus soldier asked if she as Kelly Chambers, and when she said yes, they shot her right then. I felt pretty shocked when i learned that way, i feel like it hit me harder than when you hear it from the engineers
lol went back to the games after a few yrs and getting access to the legendry version again forgot the dinner part and wondered why in the hell she was not in 3
you can complete one loyalty mission after the collector boarding I did legion's loyalty quest after the incident and managed to save everyone regardless. (played on hardcore)
You can actually do a single loyalty mission after the crew is kidnapped and have Kelly survive, I normally end up having to do Legion's loyalty mission after the crew is taken and Kelly always survives.
Agh it broke my heart since I go full paragon in me3 and didn't know will affect to her fate. Now there's always good reason to go renegade with Kai Leng.
Didn't do any of this, but I got the 10pts/ex-Cerberus engineers anyways, randomly, while searching some planet. I might not have remembered that, except I played thru all 3 games, in the last couple months. 😁
6:20 - you can hear it from them, or you can also hear it from some refugees in the area she used to be. They describe it in basically the same manner: some Cerberus guys asked if she was Kelly Chambers and she said yes so they shot her in the head
I always thought Kelly was one of the few humans who were interesting in the game, like Miranda, Jack and Kaidan. Many of them are unique on a physical or power standpoint, Jack being a lab rat experiment since childhood, Kaidan with his L2s and inner conflict as a biptic and Miranda with her genetic manipulation. But Kelly stood out for me from a personality stand point, she is charming and a "xenotropist" in a way, her love for aliens and other species is interesting due to the fact that we don't see much human interspecies relations apart from Shepard and maybe two or three NPCs (Like the Asari woman who lost her human bondmate's locket in Ilium, the human lady with the Salarian who she sold her car to buy him nice armour). I always found interesting the idea of human finding love in other alien species without judging their appearances or race, Kelly stood out because of her mild "xenophilia"
0:57 This is incorrect. You can do at least one mission (maybe two missions, but keep it at one and don't push your luck) after the kidnapping of the crew. This is to allow you to do Legion's loyalty mission prior to launching the Suicide Mission. But after doing the Heretic Station, immediately go through the Omega-4 relay. Doing any mission will count against the internal game tally, so save any uncompleted side quests until after the Suicide Mission. This includes loyalty missions, but they should ideally all be completed prior to this point (except Legion's as previously stated). Don't even stop on a hub world, as that will count as a mission as well. It's best to not even go for the Reaper IFF until you are otherwise completely ready to launch the Suicide Mission. Protip: Destroy the heretics at the end of Legion's loyalty mission. Your ME3 play-through will thank you.
You can do one loyal mission before going after them (most likely the only one left will be Legion's) and still save your crew. more than one will cause them to die one after another, depending on how missions you are delaying.
So basically 3 options to kill crew entirely: 1)complete 2 or more missions before the attack on collectors' base 2) don't complete any of the loyalty missions, so everyone except for Joker dies in the end 3) send someone who is not loyal to escort crew back to the ship(I sent Mordin and he died, don't remember if the crew had died too though). Shabbat shalom)
It seems weird that she would even be on Cerberus’ radar at this point in the story tracking down defectors especially when they mentioned her name specifically.
I have played the Mass Effect trilogy 7 times in my life. This is my 8th playthrough and the first time Kelly Chambers died. When I heard the dialogue about her getting shot in the head I was confused because I never had that happen before ... all I could say to myself was ... oops. I had no idea that could happen.
First time I played ME3 I had Kelly in the Refugee place, but the second time I didn't even tho she survived the Collector Base/Ship thing. I was always puzzled by that.
I usually do all side missions except Tali and Legion's side missions. Then I go get the reaper IFF. I like to bring Legion with me on Tali's loyalty mission for the funny dialogue. Still have enough time to complete both missions and save the crew.
I've met with Kelly at the Citadel and told her to carry on doing what she's doing.. didn't realize you could save her! I've done a bunch of the Tuctanka missions and wondered if Kelly comes back so I can tell her to change her ID before Cerberus show up?
I felt good about getting Kelly in Mass Effect 3 because I had dinner with her in ME2 this time (I didn't do that in my first playthrough of the trilogy so she wasn't there). Then I heard a Batarian and a woman say a Cerberus soldier shot Kelly and I felt terrible

I thought it was odd that they were saying cerberus killed her when they attacked citadel, but i never saw her name on the board in crew deck.
No I jumped to turn in quests at m
Omega and the citadel could still save everyone
Okay, I'm glad you clarified things in the pinned note because in my second playthrough I managed to complete all loyalty missions - including the DLC characters - and still save more of the regular crew, including Kelly.
The "launch immediately" is probably what's making some players go "waitaminute" because I'm sure I'm not the only one who managed to do a no-loss suicide run while saving most of the kidnapped crew.
I'm sure some of the newer players will find this useful 👍I hope you'll make some videos about your thoughts on the ME3 endings.. keep it up 👍
I still wish there was more to her story in the remaster especially after the reapers take the citadel, even after you change her Id is she part of the survivors fighting back or did she get processed, or given most of her story was completed pre citadel dlc with zero changes included it would be good if you can persuade her to join the crew at that point thus saving her life and filling a post in the war room helping trainer to assist refugees movement etc
I heard originally she was supposed to have a bit more content in ME3 but of course due to E.A rushing the releasing it was cut. I wish/hope they will add more content like that in the remaster
You don't have to be single to romance her in ME3. You just have to have been her current interest in ME2 before transporting your save file.
This is almost always a non-issue for me. I never flirt with Chambers in ME2 so she never appears in ME3 and as such, doesn't ever die.
I'd have to forego buying fish for the aquarium if I ignored Kelly in ME2!
Tech she would. If you never convinced her to leave Ceberus, then later the elusive man rolls out his reaper "improvements" for all personal. Chambers would become a semihusk upgrade. Not canon but following the logical outcome, I forsee her death in this path too.
@@zaguar3153 I always remember to feed my fish on my own. It's not that hard for me to remember to do it after each mission
@@billsutherby I always go straight to Mordans lab after a mission, to research newly acquired upgrades!
All Cerberus personnel were turned into husk hybrids by the higher ups. Meaning if you did not romance her or flirted with her, she would still be with Cerberus thus she would just be a husk.
Another good video. I’d love a long video explaining how to save everyone through through the trilogy
Oh I have an idea for a video how about an all romance option video that explains everyone in the game you can romance and how many if anybody you can romance simultaneously along with primary and secondary romance options and how that affects the story in the game depending on who if anyone you pick
As someone who romanced Kelly in one of my playthroughs, I was thoroughly sad when they changed her design in ME3
And here I thought I knew it all about this game. Good vid Dan
I've always wanted to save her. Thank you!
I managed to do all loyalty missions and still save the full crew in my playthrough, but I did it by getting IFF last and doing Legion’s mission after immediately before finishing the game.
Yeah you can usually squeeze in Legion's loyalty mission after the Reaper IFF and before the crew gets kidnapped
Come for Miranda, stays for Kelly
The romance with her is a one off. Once you save her & reconnect, she invites you to spend some "private" time with her in her cagobay bin. Thats it.
Its time for a dragon age remake. Bioware was a go to game for storytelling back in the day, also Jade Empire and the Old Republic games was great!
Oh I haven't heard of hade empire, if is in the same vain as the others I might wanted to look into it
having save editor to change that is very handy on your next playthroughs
Darn I'm going to have to go back Save Kelly someone has to feed the goddamn fish
Can you do a video about what happens to David and gavin archer in mass effect 3 after project overlord?
I remember that you can find David in Grissom Academy, and he gives you access to a room with a gun inside. And Gavin, you find him along with the other defectors being guarded by Jacob. What's interesting is that he just outright shoots himself if you refuse to tell him what happened to his brother.
i Saved Kelly from The Collector's but i did not know about the other possibility and that we can find her in me 3 great work, i thought i knew everything but on this channel i found new stuff great for Legendary Edition.
“I might do more than catch ya, Kelly.”
Thanks Dan. I didn't know having her up for dinner would bring her to ME3.
Soon as Kelly became even a little flirty with Shep, I realized she's almost certainly been instructed to help Shepard 'relieve stress' by the Illusive Man.
Just part of the job.
It's more of a fling than a relationship
Kind of odd that a renegade choice turns out to almost be what you might consider to be a paragon one.
Not odd. Renegade is not bad or evile just can be
Some Paragon options do have bad consequences. This one, and also letting Rana Thanoptis live in ME2 for example.
renegade doesn't stand for evil/bad, it's just rebellious act
@@JD_13 I was questioning who this was then I remembered that it was the asari chick I firing squaded in samara's mission
Because Paragon should be naive/stupid and Renegade should be smart/shroud.
And the chances of backfiring should depend on the situation.
Can't understand people who "choose to play" only paragon or renegade.
Different situations require different approaches.
A good mix of both (with emphasis on Renegade is way better)
Like the Eclipse girl in me2. You are told eclipse kill to join and you are NOT suppose to shoot her on sight just because she's babblings now?
Never even knew she was in ME3, will have to track this on my next playthrough
I really love the fact that the renegade option is the right choice since that is so rare in ME games.
"Okay, if you say so, I will change my identity!"
> Kelly Chambers, Kelly Chambers everywhere, even in her mail signature
illusivemanfacepalm.png
Hu... never knew you could save her and it provided extra stuff.
You're goddamn right
I always do the paragon option, and Kelly dies in ME3. Will give it a try, thanks.
Problem with this is you can't hold back Tali's loyalty mission until you've got Legion and take him with you to Tali's trail for shits and giggles because then it means doing two loyalty missions after the Reaper IFF.
Do a video on how the headpieces stick to Samara’s head😂
THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE
What?! I didn’t know you could save her! Dammit, now I need to replay ME3!
Kenneth mentions in 'a citadel coup' like they happen relatively often
You can actually spawn her by editing your save file with Gibbed save editor for ME3, just check 2 boxes for calling Kelly to your cabin and having dinner with her, you dont have to check box for Kelly dancing for you. You can call it cheating but it's minor tweak it if you ask me.
I wonder if there is a community agreed-upon "Perfect Mass Effect" playthrough across all three games?
No cause Renegades would never accept a paragon and other way arround
Kelly and Scout Harding! Best women in the bioware universe!
I think this is the only time in any of the games where the renegade option is the objectively better option.
WOW, this went from Star Wars to Alien REAL FAST.
I didn't have either of the engineers on the Normandy at that time on my ship and I also didn't even notice her in the refugee camp so I discovered she died from a data pad on the level.
Always wanted more with her 🥰
Thanks for this. Now I know a way to save her and see her again in ME3 instead of hearing about her death through Gabby and Kenny
What?? I had no idea you can save her, she died every time in all my play throughs. This is dope
You can also learn about her death in ME3 if you go back to the refugee camp, you can talk to someone there who says that a cerberus soldier asked if she as Kelly Chambers, and when she said yes, they shot her right then. I felt pretty shocked when i learned that way, i feel like it hit me harder than when you hear it from the engineers
lol went back to the games after a few yrs and getting access to the legendry version again forgot the dinner part and wondered why in the hell she was not in 3
That's interesting. They BOTH sound like paragon actions.
Me watching this glad I made a backup right after the crew got kidnapped because I just tucked up
you can complete one loyalty mission after the collector boarding
I did legion's loyalty quest after the incident and managed to save everyone regardless. (played on hardcore)
I'm almost sure that you can do two loyalty missions: Thali and Legion. I was doing them after after collector boarding and it always worked.

This is incorrect.
Even though I’d rather romance Garrus as Femshep, I do want to keep as many characters as possible alive. So this is helpful
You can do one loyal mission before going after them (most likely the only one left will be Legion's) and still save your crew. more than one will cause them to die one after another, depending on how missions you are delaying.
So basically 3 options to kill crew entirely: 1)complete 2 or more missions before the attack on collectors' base
2) don't complete any of the loyalty missions, so everyone except for Joker dies in the end
3) send someone who is not loyal to escort crew back to the ship(I sent Mordin and he died, don't remember if the crew had died too though). Shabbat shalom)
It seems weird that she would even be on Cerberus’ radar at this point in the story tracking down defectors especially when they mentioned her name specifically.
It be nicer if you explain how to more than show exactly what the result is. Or have time stamps so one can skip so that it doesn't ruin the result.
i was devastated when she died during my first playthrough
I had dedicated one playthrough where I just saved myself for Kelly lmao
Good video with useful information
I have played the Mass Effect trilogy 7 times in my life. This is my 8th playthrough and the first time Kelly Chambers died. When I heard the dialogue about her getting shot in the head I was confused because I never had that happen before ... all I could say to myself was ... oops.
I had no idea that could happen.
You can do one more mission after the kidnapping of the crew. I've done it before and still save Kelly.
First time I played ME3 I had Kelly in the Refugee place, but the second time I didn't even tho she survived the Collector Base/Ship thing. I was always puzzled by that.
Next video, How to romance Kelly Chambers?
How to romance Kelly Chambers, the Xenophile
Step one: Be in the same universe.
Done.
Well damn. I guess I'll need to play the trilogy again.
