Not sure about the hammering bit. I think you'll find the press works better when the air can escape from the case.

This is so me. Thanks for teaching me some things to be extra careful for. Came here specifically to see mods on the 61. Would have loved to see the black sapphire

    Great video.
Sapphire has an index of refraction of 1.76 compared to glass 1.50. This is why sapphire requires AR.
I'm going to use silicone grease on my gaskets to provide a protective coating. It also helps with shear stress screwing the caseback.

I've just started my Seiko 5 mod. Started with an Uncle Seiko razor wire bracelet. Had to get the straight endlink version since the SKX endlinks don't fit the new Seiko 5. Very unique looking and comfortable. I've been watching a lot of mod videos (that's how I found your channel) and from what I've seen, the chapter ring should have a nub or pin (very small and subtle) to align it properly with the case. Thanks for posting your videos, I'm enjoying them. Your finished watches look really nice too!

Thanks! Yes some CRs do and some don’t, they don’t always line up though even with the pin so I’ve had so mess around with them anyway. I’ve got a better overall build process now so will update and create some new how-to videos soon

You should have put the bezel on first and then seat the insert by hand.

Yep, was still very much learning at the time

wow i tried the 60 click mod and i can confirm that it feels much more premium. it should be mentioned that doing this mod prior to putting the bezel insert in is important if you want your insert indexed to a 0 back play point.

Good point! Yes it could skip and become misaligned

I was particularly interested in how you got the back on the watch. The watch I'm fixing for somebody ( First time) I tried to adjust slow & fast & bugged the watch up so I changed the mechanism & the same thing happened. I just fitted the third mechanism. Also I'm on the fourth glass as they keep breaking (his glass had a hole in the glass) ( I put it down to learning the hard way). The problem now doesn't matter what I do I can't get the back to screw on. I saw in this video how you got the back on. Mine wont start. Maybe Seiko are deliberately making it very tight, deliberately creating this to be a problem then their own trained repair guys get the wor, I'd say. I'm waiting for a gasket before I can take it again as I bugged the gasket in the end. I think I'm fighting a losing battle. The watch is a Seiko SPRG27K.

If you’ve replaced the movement in that watch, did you check the new movement has the same thickness of spacer (usually grey or black colour plastic around the edge) - like with the SKX007 movement replacement and upgrade to NH36, either the caseback has to be changed of the movement spacer has to be taken from the old movement in order for the caseback to screw down properly. In your case the movement spacer might be too thick and therefore trying to tighten it down will put pressure on the dial/movement etc

Thanks for your response. I'm able to send the new movement back as it was way too fast. +197s/d, 9.1ms, 154 deg, 21,600bph. That gave me a chance to try the old movement with the spacer turned around without the Dial & hands attached. The back screwed back easily. I thought I was installing it as it came. Maybe the spacer needs to go on before the Dial. I ordered a new Mechanism so it should be ok. It's been an invaluable learning experience. I'm a retired electrician and Air conditioning repair & installer, so I'm used to trying to fix systems not working etc. I'm finding watches quite a challenge to work on.

Try namokiMODS for turtle bezel inserts, they also do a slim caseback there which should work on your watch as well: www.namokimods.com/?ref=seikomodsdubai
