He made a lot of money on the back end of the major movies. A lot of production companies will pay the actor, actress less up front to stay in budget then pay them royalties after the movie does well. You will notice after a movie does well they get paid less or a little more than the previous movie for the sequel to get a bigger payday on the backend. I would argue that a movie that made 25 times its budget should be counted in the All Time Titan Group as well. Unsure what all goes into counting as an All Time Titan I know you aren't just looking at Revenue, but Pulp Fiction is not only a Cult Classic, it was a box office behemoth. Thank you for bringing this up, @Neog2! In my definition, an "All-Time Titan" is among the top 50 highest-grossing movies of the decade. In the 1990s, as you mentioned, the competition was fierce, so the entry threshold for an ATT was $300M. Pulp Fiction fell short of that, but as you said, it made a LOT compared to its budget, so it would be fair to call it a "Breakout Hit"-a term used for low-budget, highly successful movies that don’t achieve ATT status. I introduced the "Breakout Hit" label just recently, after this video, so Pulp Fiction missed it. A lot of acors get paid one of two ways, they take a full payout of a increased salary that comes out of the budget or they take a smaller paid salary from the budget and then In their contract they get payed off of residualcs, ticket sales by moviegoers, a percentage of themovies gross kind of like a commission and many other ways. So while his payout we saw in this video as an actor in his movies may not seem like a lot, this could only be a third of what SLJ really made.
You’re right, @noahgullion6391! That’s valuable input. However, I did my best to uncover all backend deals whenever there was a report about them and the sums I presented include these earnings too. Obviously, these numbers tend to grow slightly over time through residuals from streaming, etc.

He holds the records for most flops and bombs also
Nick Cage might challenge him in that department, @shawnlyric9432!
He was robbed so bad omg this is hurtful to one of the greatest actors ever. God will continue to bless him no matter what.
There’s another one missing from this lineup. It’s called CAVEMAN’s VALENTINE personal favorite…
Sorry about that, @Clee2k. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
He's making the same range in his flops and in many of the block busters. Wow!! I can't believe he made such a minuscule amount for Django. Don't get me wrong, I think actors and sports figures are outrageously over paid!
.. wow thought it would be close to a billion
but just think of the royalties checks, over a period of 20 years
my favorite actor
Pretty keep grinding stack it up and work even harder then other's
Samuel l Jackson easily could have been a billionaire with all those hits
You forgot some of his early roles Amos and Andy and Menace II Society just off the top of my head.
Yeah, sorry about that, @zombiegoatt4282! I used certain criteria to filter the movies, but it was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I’m much more thorough now.
Go work Samuel ✊🏾😊
Severely under paid
Underpaid, the majority of Americans that work regular jobs are underpaid. Samuel Jackson has an awesome life, him and Denzel Washington.
@MrT-nh6di compared to other A actors you don't think so?
Facts !!
@@mikecape2897 Why are you rooting for the rich that extort the working class?
@@mikecape2897 He's not even a leading man. Have you even watched these movies? He's grossly overpaid for his work in Marvel and Star Wars. A lot of those movies he has like 3 lines and gets paid over $5 million. Dude is a great actor, but many of his role don't require much in the way of acting. He's clearly one of the most overpaid actors of all time. Plus he makes huge bank doing commercials too.
Black snake moan was a very very weird movie
How can a film that makes over a 1 billion in the box office and Samuel Jackson gets 6 million. At this point Samuel should get a precentage of the box office like Denzel. This is a crime!
He gets a percentage in most cases, @inquizative44! What most people don’t consider is his actual screen time in these movies. How could he expect leading-role figures for cameos and minor roles?
What about coming to America 1 with eddy Murphy ?
Sorry about that, @davidturner8751. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
If this is true about his pay , but look at the back end and all them checks he getting on the 15th and 30th big money💰
DO LEONARDO DICAPRIO!!! NOW!!!
Love your excitement, @McBride316! I'm working on it as I type. It takes a while though, some figures are hard to dig, so just bear with me.
Man I’m about to make a movie with him. Super bargain
And think about it, he is the highest paid Black actor off all time.
According to people in the comments Denzel Washington has made far more. Denzel made $40 million in one movie alone. Samuel L Jackson is not a leading man.
@@jesses5463 The people in the comments are wrong. I hope that is not the foundation for most of your knowledge...youtube chats 🤣🤣
@jamaalbrown5082 so you think some dude who isn't even a lead actor made more than Will Smith or Denzel Washington? Makes no logical sense...although neither do some of his paydays. Dude has made huge bank for doing next to nothing in a lot of these films.
@@jesses5463 Google, man. You spent more time replying with nonsense than it would have taken you to google the right answer. Your generation is COOKED.
Insane he was a multi millionaire before they even got to the 2000’s 😂
You missed a few of his movies, such as coming to America and strictly business" 😮
Sorry about that, @tatiannasweets2691. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
He made the most all time
Hardest working man in Hollywood.
I would like to suggest Halle Berry
I'll enjoy exploring her, @ttlayli 😎
Tom Cruise shows you got to do those stunts!
A lot of his Domd movies recovered through DVD n VHS
He's not the goat,he's the escape goat, pay should be much higher he never turned down a roll at whatever the pay
Wasn't he in Losing Isaiah? I don't think I saw that movie on here. Did he not get paid for it?
Sorry about that, @foryouromusement. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days.
@BoxOfficeJoe no worries at all. Nevertheless, I think this was a cool video! 👍🏽
The movie “fresh” was not a flop and you missed a movie “Goodfellas” Sam played stacks.
Sorry about missing Goodfellas, @AntonioMaseratiGarcia. I used certain criteria to exclude movies, but that was a mistake-I see that now. Check out some of my recent work; I'm much more thorough these days. Btw, the "Fresh" label says "Semi Hit" do you agree with that?
I didn't know xxx had part 3
@Somebodys-unc Don't expect too much from it, but it's definitely worth a watch.
This is actually low money in Hollywood standards. I mean if you think about it, someone like Tom Hanks get 20 to probably 30 million a picture. All I’m gonna say is WOW!!!
What are you even talking about? Tom Hanks is one of the biggest stars of all time up there with the likes of Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger in terms of box office draw. Samuel L Jackson isn't even a leading man. He gets paid $5 million+ to say 3 lines in a movie sometimes.
Look at longevity guys. He has been making 5 million a year average since the 90's and this just movies he did
You forgot WHITE SANDS with Mickey Rourke. Great movie. 1992....
Not one over 20 million with 50 plus movies and in film over a billion he got an average 6 to 8 million damn no wonder he still working.
Why would he get $20 million? If you've watched all these movies as I have you'd realize he's one of the most overpaid actors in Hollywood...not because he doesn't have talent but rather what he's been asked to do to make these ludicrously high paydays. Look at his role in the marvel movies, ffs.
Samuel Jackson doesn't headline a lot of these movies... That's why he gets 6 to 10 million per movie... Headliners like Denzel Washington Will Smith and Tom Cruise will get 20 million plus!
A couple movies were missing, but they weren't bug deals i don't think
Coming to America, Goodfellas, Menace II Society, True Romance were some of the big movies, but small roles.
