I don't care if it takes me til I'm 89 years old. I WILL get there someday. Great video! Mesmerized the whole time. And I think the music, instead of constant dialogue, actually made it better. Not that any of us get tired of hearing you talk, lol. Keep up the great work!
oooppiikkk Oh, I'm sure they will. I doubt the Unicorn will still be there. I'm not anywhere close to 89, lol. But I believe at the very least the area will still be there. Maybe with a fully functional mobile suit by then :D
It's not too difficult, my GF and I are going in about a week, and it's only costing us about $700 a person to be there for 10 days (flying from America). I suggest staying at an AIRBNB instead of a hotel, I did that last time I went and enjoyed it, and I'm doing it again this year. You'll spend maybe $30-40 per night. Just be a smart shopper, don't try to stay right there in the busy city, just a little ways away. You can get everywhere on trains. As for plane tickets, download both the Hopper app and Skyscanner, you can punch in your desired trip details and be alerted when plane tickets are cheaper. They fluctuate drastically from $500-$1200, and it goes up and down all the time. Lastly do research about when and why plane tickets change in price, it's cheaper to go when it isn't a touristy season. You'll be there in no time.
@@oooppiikkk going with some of me mates soon. Budgeted around $3000 for about 3 weeks (flight and accommodation included) and saved over the course of 12 months. You got this.
When I first went to Tokyo I wasn’t into Gunpla as much so I didn’t really bother with this stuff much, but now I’m going back in the summer and I’ll definitely be stopping by here to get some kits and see that Unicorn!
i was there too. prices in this store are higher than other retail stores in Tokyo, and they only have old kits and no metal build. I was expecting they would have all kits since it's "Gundam Base".
There used to be a local hobby store in my hometown that initially got me into gunpla, though they only had a small selection of kits and never stocked the same thing twice so something new was there every time. Sadly the owners retired a few years ago after running the store for nearly 60 years. Found out when I got home from my freshman year of college as their closing sale was going on :(. Now the place is a grocery store for fresh produce, but it won't ever be the same, since that store was where I spent so many hours of my childhood browsing model kits and looking at all the various things I couldn't afford. Ordering stuff online just isn't the same. I actually still have yet to build any of the kits I bought from that final sale, I feel like it just wouldn't be right to do it. (picked up an older HG kit, a translucent Star Trek Deep Space 9 model kit, and a pricey model of the original Apollo rocket).
I just realized that life was beautiful, and im glad that i was in this hobby. It is my cure for my depression. My smile will be like you Zaku when i go there. :)
Thankyou so much for this guide Zack! I had all your shopping videos on bookmark whenever i visit japan but there is one store that isnt there anymore, the one near Yodabashi
2:09 LOL "Beam Sabel" !!! I still want one, though. 3:58 Looking at all those Robot Damashii figures on the shelves in their nice boxes makes them look like everyday figures you could see in the West! That is, until you realize their scarcity online as well as their rather absurdly high price.
Just curious... I saw the box of HGUC Neo Zeong on the shelf @ 14:34, I wonder if anybody knows if they still sell this kit @ the Tokyo Gundam Base? I've been on the hunt for it but it's always marked up x4 MSRP + shipping... I might just ask a relative to pick it up for me on a business trip...
amazon and gundam planet, second one only when they actually have it in stock. amazon sent me what i think are bootleg versions a couple of times so im not sure but the kits look good for bootlegged if they were.
Bandai continues to softly promote their 'Basic build' philosophy: build, panel-line, sticker, spraycoat. Although weathering and customizing are popular at shows and exhibitions, the basic build is still the most popular.
I actually went there last month. And from a country where i live in. where taxes are high and and kits in here are very expensive as hell, the prices of kits inside gundam base tokyo is still cheap. Like i bought 10000 yen worth of gunpla there (mostly hg). I got like 8 hg kits. But if you have an allowance of 10000 yen and buy kits in here, you can only buy 3-4 hg kits
why did they only show the wing zero for gundam wing for? but showed the EW wing and custom? ummm hello we have a tv version of wing gundam so why wasn't it beside the proto wing zero?
I am planning to go to Japan in the near future, definitely will pick up some Gundam exclusive gundam base tokyo there. do they have P-bandai kit there?
This is in Daiba. I wouldn’t recommended buying kits there unless they’re exclusives not available in other shops. In Akihabara, stores like Surugaya or Yodobashi Camera are better. Check out my Tokyo Gunpla Guide
aside from the Zeong and the RX78-2 pillow heads did you see any other pillows? I know they had the limited edition Zaku heads and really wanted to get one next month
Ok first off I am a ZEON fan yes you read this right ZEON. I wish one of these was in the USA in particular I think Washington state would be good and I kinda also want a Zeon gundam. 17:37 ok I think I need to watch more 00.....the hell is going on? 20:00 ....for years now I've wanted to go to gundam front and now the gundam base.... But what I really want is one of these in my home state of yelm Washington. But with which gundam? I believe that question is a simple one. We have two choices: gundam Exia, or gundam Barbatos lupus Rex....your choice people.
In the display of all lead suits, I noticed that there was an RX-78-2 suit for Origin. Then under the new items section, I caught a glimpse of an RX-78-2 suit. Is Bandai releasing a new RX-78-2 kit :D?
Is this a fixed place you can visit year-round, or is it like a temporary show? I'd love to go see that some day, it seems like there's so much to see!
it's there indefinitely! But the GMs and Zakus lined up outside are temporary, along with the stuff scattered throughout the mall. But the main Gundam Base will be there!
I'm going to Japan in December for 10 days. I figured $2,000 would be enough to hold me over, but I clearly see now, that is not the case.
How was it? Did you double your budget?
In my humble opinion, they should put up a Gundam theme park. The Gundams deserve to reside in something larger than life.
As Bandai ramps up its corporate struggle with Disney, theme parks will appear.
like the godzilla theme park thing
13:52 the guy was probably very satisfied with his hunt
Lol🤣
That's us when we went to hobby shop
I was just there I proposed to my fiancé on that photo stand yesterday.
whitevoid43 If this is real, it's the most romantic thing I've ever heard.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar.
Men, today we now for this true man of culture.

idk how old you are now, but im pretty sure they will go through more revisions and more front statues
oooppiikkk Oh, I'm sure they will. I doubt the Unicorn will still be there. I'm not anywhere close to 89, lol. But I believe at the very least the area will still be there. Maybe with a fully functional mobile suit by then :D
I was just there a week ago, it’s so nice to see in person, def plan to go to japan and see this.

im a Gundam collector myself.....great video ....thanks for the up-load....
such a beautiful and wonderful celebration of Gundam. I hope I can go back one day. I saw the OG 1/1 Gundam in Tokyo years ago.
and only now i realize that the lower chest flaps on my unicorn are atached the wrong way XD
But... they don't slide if they're on the wrong way...
Ooooppppsss
Lmaoo caught capping in 4K
Thank you so much, the sheer amount of gundam over there makes gundam collecting an expensive hobby.
It's like a sample of what the Gundam-obsessed Build Fighters world is like
When I first went to Tokyo I wasn’t into Gunpla as much so I didn’t really bother with this stuff much, but now I’m going back in the summer and I’ll definitely be stopping by here to get some kits and see that Unicorn!
I was almost in tears seeing all that Gundam merch in one place! I need to go to Tokyo ASAP! 😫
Mahogany Black Me too
Is that really hard to find?
ShindigFreak if its easy to find were not suffer like this lmao i hope i have teleportation skill so i can go anywhere
I dunno why but i prefer the after version narration? It gives a surreal feeling as though we are there with you for real
I wish they had some sort of Gundam shopping area as amazing as that out here in America
I just returned from Japan, and this was the first stop I maded in my trip, it’s hard not to waist all your money here.
i was there too. prices in this store are higher than other retail stores in Tokyo, and they only have old kits and no metal build. I was expecting they would have all kits since it's "Gundam Base".
Any reccomendations of where the find more and better prices?
@@laloasaelrios7239 Akihabara i guess
10:09 quite amazing to see how far Gunpla has come since 1980 really.
ivan_ssh You see alll other toy types go backwards unfortunately:/
I went there on October 2017! Bought 4 gundams 😭 but I know I'm going there again soon!
9:20 the Shining and God Gundam
Why can’t this be in America, like gundam here is expensive and hard to find
usagundam store or amazon is your best bet. Starwars game too strong in the US

amazon is your friend.
be careful i got a couple that seemed to be bootleg from amazon the packaging was different than what i got from gundam planet.
Or anywhere else outside of Japan.
Can't wait to go here next Spring. This was under construction when I went 3 years ago. This will be quite the pilgrimage as a Gundam/Gunpla fanatic.
Great video and can’t believe the displays they were all phenomenal.
I just realized that life was beautiful, and im glad that i was in this hobby. It is my cure for my depression. My smile will be like you Zaku when i go there. :)
Good on ya mate!
ZakuAurelius Zaku!!! :)

Never in my life has a video so quickly determined where I want to go to as an adult.
Wow never heard of this place when I lived in Tokyo, must be fairly new!
All those beautiful kits, and I could almost guarantee that I would STILL not find the few Gundams I have sought out for the past few years. lol
oh man it was heavenly watching it thanks ZakuAurelius
you're welcome!
Great vid! Thanks. I woulda lost my house payment at that first store, LOL.

Loooooooooved this tour. Great stuff
Got excited to see the beamsabel umbrella returned
Imagine they had a seat inside it for the pilot that would be amazing !!!!!
Did you manage to see the life sized unicorn turn green?
theclerksays nah, we couldn’t wait around for the show
Fantastic video Zach!!
Those Unicorn Converses. I would pay any amount of money for them. Also a Haro. Also those animation cells.
5:15-5:30 P-Bandai is a horrible business practice to international customers, and it needs to die. I want that GN-X IV!!!
No One That Special same, it feels. When you really want something but it’s out of reach.
my local hobby store has P-Bandai products up to the more recent ones for some strange reason, no i am not from Japan.
amazon and gundam planet, second one only when they actually have it in stock. amazon sent me what i think are bootleg versions a couple of times so im not sure but the kits look good for bootlegged if they were.
I went to game stop once and found pbandai kits
My hobby store has a PG Banshee norn and several P Bandai Kits. Though their selection is only part of a wall.
I wanted to go there, i got a kit with one of the promos, but it was over like a month ago
It's been 1 year since Ive seen this video.... I still didn't get to Japan... DANGIT ONE MORE YEAR(I said this last year to)
Huh its weird that they wouldn't allow recording of the performers in an open area like that
Right?
been here last year, couple o' months before they took down gramps. was a really awesome place to go. :D
Aargh I just missed you! I picked up quite a haul at the gundam cafe and gundam base!
Holy shit that Sazabi that looks like the Rozen Zulu is so amazing.
I would love to go there. I would probably go nuts though.
16:30 "And a factory in Chicago that makes miniature models of factories" Number Two pitching a new US branch to Bandai...
I noticed when I was in Japan that their Gunpla are very clean, no weathering or chipping, what are your thoughts? Great Video enjoyed everything!!
Bandai continues to softly promote their 'Basic build' philosophy: build, panel-line, sticker, spraycoat. Although weathering and customizing are popular at shows and exhibitions, the basic build is still the most popular.
YESSSSS A NEW JAPAN VID BLESS
Best end to a video EVER!!
I don't Understand
If the Gundam Unicorn There, and Where The RX-78-2 Gundam ?
Maybe they replace the Armor of RX-78-2 and Placing RX-0
Is there a way to buy online from Gundam Cafe?
im going to japan next spring and someone better still have a pg unicorn with the led kit and full armor upgrade
I wanna go back there again!!
Darn it! The second I left diver city, the gundam docks at Tokyo event started happening! URGHHHH
14:41 - So what they basically say is straight-built, flat, semi-gloss, and gloss finishes?
dhathor yep

So awesome, definitely gonna plan a trip just for this lol. We're those bikes actually for sale?
Is it a little bit higher than the list price?
I am planning to go there
Are you able to buy the p bandai online exclusive MGs there? Like the uma lightning gelgoog and the hugh corand gm command MG?
I thought I read somewhere where the Rx 78 was being moved to a park!
I think it's being moved to the Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka
I wonder if that statue could actually walk if fitted with engines and servos, can the structure resist the stress if it?
They are already finoshing the full mtion real size rx 78 for next year 45 aniversary. where they will show him walking and moving
why did they only show the wing zero for gundam wing for? but showed the EW wing and custom? ummm hello we have a tv version of wing gundam so why wasn't it beside the proto wing zero?
@1:34
why were they not letting you take photos?
Do they sell a little bit cheaper hg/rg gundam here or do they sell the original price of it?????
So Akiba is still a better place to buy Gunpla kits? I'm still in Tokyo and wondering where the best place to get my hands on some gunpla is...
What store that sells any grade gundam and that sells single runners?
I am planning to go to Japan in the near future, definitely will pick up some Gundam exclusive gundam base tokyo there. do they have P-bandai kit there?
