This channel is so interesting to me, it touches on so many things that just isnt covered on most other channels and tutorials like odd shaped blades, maintenance and restoration of tools, shears/scissors, problems ive come across myself but with a much better solution etc. Sharing your knowledge is very valuable, especially for those of us who are intermediate at sharpening and are running into a new set of problems to overcome, and I think that you sharing your knowledge and experience instead of keeping it to yourself as "trade secrets" speaks volumes of you as a person. Thank you, I really appreciate what you do.
Thanks for the video Paul. Good stuff. 👍 What I have found to be the best degreaser is Castrol Super Clean. It works better than Purple Power in my experience. I sharpen pruners on my Edge Pro Apex with the scissor attachment. Does a beautiful job. I haven't used evaporust but it sounds like a good product. I use CorrosionX which is the best rust preventer I have ever used.
You do such a great job with these, I clean mine too, with a wire wheel followed by a scotchbrite belt with the white buffing compound. Works great. Yes steel is very soft, I have had good results even with the tormek sg stone, I have considered investing in a dremel, the battery one looks really nice, no cord in the way there!
i do similar......no tas.......1x42 kally and viels.......variable.........cleaning i spray with WD40 set aside and clean a bit later with a stiff wire wheel in buffer.......never take apart.......some hedge trimmers i have to take apart.......great tip on the mr clean eraser and the narrow belts...........thanks
I still do it on complicated things some hedgers can be a little crazy especially the ones with leverage to make cutting easier that’s the ones I photograph the most
My first attempt sharpening pruners disassembled, cleaned and sharpened after reassembly the cutting edges do not meet I think they might be tweaked. Do you have any suggestions to correct that? Thank you and I just love your channel.
Hey Paul, I noticed your audio is quieter when the machines run. Are you using a microphone to deaden the sound of the machines so you can talk normally? Or is it a voiceover?
I tried them a few years ago - not a fan very messy hard to break in but they seem to work for some throws crap all over the shop LOL I like scotch brite belts better
Visit my for sharpeners area of my website I have almost everything I use listed there www.alexandriaknifesharpening.com/sharpening Please watch the opening trailer to my Channel I tell you where to find links to the gear I have several useful ones listed at the top of my channel

All nice, but I just give a quick write wheel clean with a Dremel, use a dremel to sharpen them without taking all that time taking them apart...
it doesn't take that long pluss i get $15 so I sharpen clean and lube
How about on a scotchbrite belt? Just want to also mention I’m amazed at your work and a lot of great info! Thanks for sharing!
Great suggestion!
Looking sharp.

Hey Paul, I noticed your audio is quieter when the machines run. Are you using a microphone to deaden the sound of the machines so you can talk normally? Or is it a voiceover?
my mic has some noise cancelation but I also reduce the machine sound in post because nobody wants to hear it
How do you reduce the machine sound but leave your voice sounding clear?
Hey man, have you ever used cork belts for polishing ? have seen a couple people use for great effects with green polish
I tried them a few years ago - not a fan very messy hard to break in but they seem to work for some throws crap all over the shop LOL I like scotch brite belts better
On the toolker, why not start at 120 like regular knives? Does edge leading or trailing make a difference on pruners?
steel is very soft on pruners 120 cubatron removes to much
Great video!
Thanks!
Hey Paul, which is the correct toolcker on Amazon? There’s quite a few.

@@ALXSHARPEN Thanks. I grew up close to Fort Hunt Park in the 50s and 60s. Things sure have changed.👍🍺
