In my state there is a criminal charge for " compelling membership" originally this law was aimed at preventing street gangs from forcing children to join but in actual practice it can be used against any organization from forcing anyone who doesn't wish to belong to any type of organization whatsoever.

It bothers me that a church youth leader could so easily shove a pregnant woman out of anger. Who the hell is teaching our children these days? Do we even know anymore?
And to add insult to injury, OP should have sued the HOA for his attorney 'fees' aka Christmas present for the lawyer. Document everything, keep any documents the HOA sends your way, great evidence for the harassment lawsuit. The best way to get these guys is to lighten their wallet.

I had similar issues with a new how after it was built. The county made them improve the privet road to my small neighborhood. To a county roads standard. They the county took over the road. I technically lost 15ft of property innocent domain. But it was a win as I gain a paved road that was know plowed by the county. The HOA thaut this made us part of their community. Nope it didn’t. Lucky I live in a state with laws limiting hoa powers. As all they can to is send letters asking us to join. First weekly then monthly. And know about once a year
