  • Often times, patients with chronic concussion symptoms (Post-Concussion Syndrome) are worried every time they hit their head. Often times, when they do hit their heads, no matter how minor, it causes all of their symptoms to come rushing back…but is this actually another concussion?
Many have been told that their brain is now more vulnerable…so this fits the narrative. But is there any truth to this? Is the brain actually more susceptible in those with PCS? Are those symptoms you’re experiencing after going over a speed-bump in a car ACTUALLY another concussion?
In this episode, Concussion Doc reviews the science on this very question.

I’m a boxer. I competed all throughout high school sparring multiple times a week. I only had concussion symptoms beyond a mild headache 1 time. Slight vision impairment, nausea and fatigue. It only lasted about 1-2 hours, with my vision returning fully within 30 minutes. It’s been years since I’ve competed or sparred. The other day, I did light sparring and took a clean punch to my jaw. Not very hard at all, just clean enough to feel the impact through my jaw. Felt completely fine. 30 minutes to an hour later my neck and jaw started feeling slightly sore and I had a mild headache. Some nausea later that night. Normally I wouldn’t think twice about a punch like that. Thinking to my past concussion and potential other ones, I was worried I was more susceptible. Like you mentioned it’s somewhat “common knowledge”. Researching it for 30 minutes with multiple publications, the vast majority where just stating it as fact. To that common knowledge point, these publications where stating it and moving on. If it was the case I wanted a reason, but I could not find one. Your video was the only comprehensive explanation on it. Thank you!!!!

People state it as fact and then just reference other articles who state it like fact. But when you really dig in to the literature it's not so clear cut!

A lot more needs to be taught throughout the medical community about the neck trauma!!! When most medical personal will poo poo it, "just try not to worry, rest and then go on"... Certainly a huge factor in my mess. Tried to get them to check my neck thoroughly, but unfortunately right when covid hit the US, and nobody brain's were screwed in right! Only looked at severe injury symptoms to not get malpractice.... And kicked me out the door, go see your primary... which I hadn't replaced yet, and she was barely open for patients to physically see.
So 2 misdiagnosed severe concussions, 2 mild concussions, and 4 probable concussions in 1 1/2 years. With 10+ bumps harder than a cabinet door, and numerous other times. Not saying the others were all concussions, but I was tracking symptoms and activities to help correlate timing of what I was doing, and should not be doing, and the effects. Reason being hopefully my doc's could help in easing each symptom, since the brain injury is not curable directly. Absolutely an increase in severity of many of my symptoms after each incident, and not because I'm that anxious about getting hurt again, and again,,, that is a farmer thing, mostly the reason I can't be stopped, and keeps happening. Finally I had my occupational therapist work me on head spaciousness, while still with vestibular issues, to help duck far enough to miss... Minor success. My Chiropractor a few months late did some help with my neck. My neurologist says quit dwelling on the past to go backwards, move forward... so some semblance of anxiety direction there. My psychiatrist actually has had a concussion in a cer accident, so he understands better. My eye doctor really gives a lot of insight to the whole process, not just the eye/brain/balance piece of the puzzle.

My daughter is a chiropractor now because our chiropractor diagnosed & treated her Post concussion syndrome where her neurologist told her to live with migraines. Nothing he could do.

hi, love your videos. any suggestions to treat that supposed microglial priming theory? Use to play high school contact sports, I am now 23, and the SLIGHTEST bump to my head gives me headache, grogginess, brain fog, etc. I understand your anxiety theory, but this is definitely a physical thing. I am searching for answers for a treatment - I feel great most days, but I gotta tackle these small bumps. any nootropics, lifestyles changes, etc. would be great, thanks in advance!

Yes this is the category of neuro-inflammation. Now there are a number of reasons why small bumps could be resulting in increased symptoms apart from Neuro-inflammation...but this is definitely one. Check out this video for more on this topic: th-cam.com/video/U138nAb2cZE/w-d-xo.html
Really what it comes down to is treating all the main potential causes for this (which you'll see in video above). Concussion Fix is awesome at this!

Recently got hit in the head with a football. Was worried immediately I got another concussion (had one 8 months ago, and another years before). Some symptoms seemed to have come back. But after watching this video I'm thinking my Symptoms may be anxiety caused. As I don't believe a football could produce 40+Gs of force?

I was laying on the floor with my fingers resting underneath my head to provide comfort and then for some reason I unconsciously decided to move my fingers from underneath my head and my head hit the floor. Only an inch of impact which would be height of my fingers. I didn’t really think anything of it but it did hurt. Next day I was experiencing nausea and 5 days later nausea came up when playing hockey and I have a sore spot where my head hit the floor. Concussion??
