i love it when he smooths out it always looks like an unfinished piece and suddenly it looks like he chopped off someones hand and just mounted it there. thats how realistic it is
I knoww!!! That was awesome.

yeah its nuts what a difference a bit of polish makes. I mean literally i wouldn't have thought the thing my art was missing was literal polish but thats all he does, a few well placed cuts and some polish and it all changes
This guy is the reason why I started to pursue figure sculpting. Such inspiring work.
The transition at 5:00, when he applies water with a cloth - amazing!
I like this!
It is really only water?
@@AX-fc5sc Water if they're using clay and solvent if it's synthetic
A few steps may have been missed out there...
OMG I LOVE IT...I ALMOST CRIED...I searched ceramic hand for my project and this caught my eyes! ¡MUY BUENO!
you are such an amazing artist. i might literally be able to watch this for hours because its so hypnotizing
I feel like if you get really good at this, it would be really fun.
Even if you aren't good at it it will be fun
Yosi Lee Or it will make you hate yourself
A harsh way to put it, but you can always get better with determination
Yosi Lee Maybe someday.....
Someday :3
I love how the hand is realistic and it resembles an actual human hand. His technique is amazing and his attention to detail makes everything he do flawless.
I must say that is the most beautiful job I have ever seen done in clay. I was so envious I couldnt come close so I gave up. but still trying. thank you for sharing with everyone lori
The hand really looks and feels beautiful. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
Amazing. To me he is the best realistic clay artist of the moment. Thank you.
Watching him work is so therapeutic.
This is so relaxing the music is perfect. I could watch this all day.
that looks better than my actual hand LOL
Toni Macaroni lol

Amazing. Beautiful piece of art as well as splendid music. Thank you so much for spreading the world of art and peace to so many of us.
Bravo
I am a big fan of Philippe faraut. Watching his work for many years. I wish some day i could attend any of his workshops to see him working live.
Scuplting a hand is one thing...but to have it turn out so naturally feminine or masculine, thats insane... how?? Lol
They both look pretty androgynous to me...
Why lol. Why you laughing out loud?
The hand looks female to me
male and female hand have different finger lengths, thicker / thinner fingers and more / less fat pads in the palm. all those details are attained in the general shapes, as well as how much he shaves away
I was shown this video years ago in a sculptures class and am still inspired by it today.
Wow!
It looks exactly like my girlfriend!
???
😂😂😂 oml
hahahahahaahha, its 4am and this will make my day xD
BACK OFF SHE'S MINE
Beautiful and has given me some really useful techniques such as adding the little wedges to develop the finger joints.
you are amazing! compliments from Malta!

He makes it looks easy
Just thoroughly impressed at your technique and being able to share so generously. thanks for your spirit of generosity Raquel
That clay seems perfect for this 👌🏼
WELL, you've motivated me to put out this dark cloud overcasting my day, and go back to the studio to finish! THANKS for the vid!
Thats the softest clay IVE seen yet
This is absolutely beautiful.... mindbending how he goes through the process and makes it look so easy. Really fantastic job!
The good thing about sculpting or drawing a hand is that you can use your own for reference!
The benefit of his experience makes that look incredibly easy. Bravo!
Beautiful work. This video made me think of God making man from clay and breathing life into him.
I thought the same!!
I seriously don't understand how amazing art can be. Amazing job :3
what kind of clay is it? i want to start sculpting and this clay seems realy easy to work with.
In his early books, Philippe works with WED clay, which is a very smooth water based clay and is easy to blend and shape. I've worked with it and it's great for practice and making masters, but it's not a permanent material. I think he may work with another water-based clay now, but they're very similar.
I have to correct my earlier comment about the WED - I went back through my notes and found it was Laguna Clay company that recommended the WED as "a favorite of movie and large-scale figurative artists"; Mr. Faraut was not the one who recommended it. I have personally used WED and think it's outstanding, but it's not what he's using in this video. Sorry for the incorrect information.
check the FAQ section of his website. There's a list of clays on there.

Love this lesson. How he creates the fingers. So life like.
This looks like my hand after I’ve touched clay
one of the very best sculptors alive...wow!
i feel like i would accidentally rip the fingers off 😩
These series of hands are just amazing. Thanks for sharing the process.
When you think your work looks good and then you watch this video 😐

your work is still good!^^
You're probably awesome boo keep hustling
Lovely technique. Beautiful product.
Novamente.
Alberto W.Emilio Friend Alberto, in fact this is common clay, it is water-based and will dry.
Thank you for your comments.
Ok!
Ok! Thadeu, vamos aguardar então o:'Professional Sculptor & Author
Sculptor & Instructor Philippe, falar algo.
grato!

Lovely work and inspiring, ready to go get some clay out. Didn't think about adding chunks of clay into the knuckles like that. Thank you for sharing.
Is this fired afterwards?
Anjuli Marquez of course not
If you're just starting out with clay give Sculpey a shot. It's oven bake clay but works great for all different types of projects. You can pick that and tons of other types of clay as well as any and all tools you'd need at Hobby Lobby.
He clearly dipped his hand in paint and held that prop.
best ever art I have seen yet
this hand is of clay, ceramic or pop??
none it's real flesh
Khushbu Mandliya I think it's clay.
This looks absolutely stunning
Can you imagine doing this in marble? No correcting mistakes.
They usually do a clay model first and have measuring tools to me exact....
Ahh, clay work is like a loving mothers embrace, soothing this mortal coil.
That said, this is a pretty great presentation, much like working the clay ones self.
Thanks for sharing.

That view in 6:30 touches my heart. i really love it & i want it in my house
What's very interesting about this is how intuitively we can understand the concept even if we probably can't do it quite as well. It's easy to make the shape of a hand, you look at yours all the time. You probably even remember what they look like. This is one of those videos that shows you: you can do it. You can.
Please share more videos of your incredible admirable work! Love love love.
