- In this video I document in full detail the process of bleeding the brakes of the XK8. I cover the following aspects:
Preparation/Planning and Mitigation steps
Tooling needed to complete the job
Four (4) different methods which can be followed
The bleeding process itself - from start to finish
Torque settings for the Bleed Nipples
Most importantly - the order in which the calipers must be bled
Make sure you install Peter Hobman's urethane donuts in your existing upper shock mounts. Watch John Dee's recent three videos covering this mod if unclear.
Hi Gary! I have bought the URO mounts already, and when I saw John's video I quickly realized that I need a better approach :) I'll capture it all in the video once I start the process.
@@2001JaguarXK8 I'm quite happy with Peter Hobman's donuts in my previously bought URO mount shells/pressings. This is the way to go.
@@garyvanremortel5218 I have just replaced my 2005 XK8 front shock mounts with Peter Hobman's and am very pleased with the results. Front end back to original height and great ride.
Can't be 2008 XK8.
Hi John, yes indeed - this is a 2001 XK8. Having said this, the process, tooling etc. will be 99% identical for a 2008. The only thing you would want to double-check is the order in which the wheels have to be bled on a 2008 (X150) model. As I did in this video, referring to the factory service manual is the safest way to go (compared to researching online).
Motul RBF600 is a better fluid.
Thanks Gary, I just checked the Motul website and I see that they have a RBF 700 now. I'll probably change to that fluid next season. The process is simple enough and the fluid cost is not outrageous.
