Note: CS2 often stutters on the first match on first launch cause it's still compiling stuff or whatever. Ideally you should start a match, quit, relaunch and then there should be less of it
The reason this thing is so popular might be because compared to the Fermi Quadros that are in a lot of old workstation PCs that people use as entry-level systems.
You should try overclocking them, the max clock on all of these are in the sub 1100mhz range, but polaris cards will generally do 1350mhz+, guess it depends on how much power they can take before they explode.
I have a PowerColor RX 550 4GB I used with an i3 7100 and 16GB of ram for awhile last year. For any games pre-2013 in 1080p, this is actually a great little card. It did Borderlands 2 and Black Ops 2 in 1440p Medium settings/60 FPS :) It's in my moms Lenovo system now for general use.
I have a RX 560 2gb XFX in my collection. It comes out every now and then to test motherboards or setups where I dont care if it dies. I paid $10 on marketplace, used its fans to fix a RX 470 and now it has a 120mm zip tire on it. Great low power card, better than nothing, more suited for 2010-2015 games at a playable FPS.
I dunno, recently saw a guy buy a 6600M card from alie and overclocking it. He got great performance for 100 bucks. They just took mobile GPU's and turned them into cards, with active cooling. Giving you space to overclock quite a bit.
@@malachkah ton of fakes gpus there too man haha I love me some aliexpress. But it's scary place to buy tech. Did have GREAT experience buying mechanical keyboards though.
The RX 550 is pretty similar in performance to the Vega 7, the integrated graphics that comes with CPUs like the Ryzen 5 5600g. This type of GPU is probably meant for really old office computers you want to keep using since it doesn't need to be plugged to the PSU
Honestly, the 470 was the best one. With the exception of PubG, it's 1% lows were better across the board by nearly 2x and max FPS wise it was within a few frames of that cut down 580 for 30-40 dollars cheaper. Not that I'd personally recommend any of this stuff. I'm sure you could find something newer and more powerful for $100 bucks used. All these are 7-8 years old and are going to stop being supported with driver updates sooner rather than later. You can save up like 25/35 dollars extra and get a used 2060 on Ebay these days. Probably less if you have a local market.

I think in some parts such as my land the brand is sort of combined with Kyo. So they make boards, SSDs and stuff still, but under the Kyo Soyo name. Idk if its the same co. being acquired, or if its just a similar name and they have nothing in common, but yeah they're still around here.

I use these Soyo RX550's in my budget builds and they are just fine and I never pay more than $60 for them and I often pay $70-80 for new RX580's on Aliexpress.
The reason the 470 performed about the same as the 580 is because the 4xx and 5xx series cards used the same chipset, the 5xx just had higher clocks. So the 470 is two tiers above the 550, which is why it performs better. In fact, people were flashing the 5xx bios onto their 4xx cards to fet the added speed. You should try that for a video. Find a 570 bios to slap onto that 470 and see what the performace gain is, if any!
I also had this card video rx 550 4Gb but from sapphire. He was doing his job very well. I was even surprised how good she is within her power! it's not a powerful gaming card, but it's not bad enough to not be able to do anything. See that rx 550 4gb has pci-ex 8x gen3.
It plays cyberpunk 2077 with fsr3 implemented. I knew it without a video bc I use rx460 4gb. Unlikely benchmarkers, I felt it is even better than LS FG.

I actually bought a very similar gpu to this, its an rx 550 as well, the same cooler design but is from aisurix (a not known brand), as you can guess, it didnt work, i dont know if its a motherboard incompatibility or not enough power but computer doesnt boot if its connected. I returned it, bought an asus gt 1030 as its the only available budget gpu, and it worked. For anyone curious: Motherboard is a OEM samsung h61s1 (which has a VERY old bios version from 2011 and is a legacy boot) PSU is OEM as well, its a samsung 350watt CPU is an i5-2400 Might be motherboard incompatibility as i heard that radeon gpu dont like legacy bios. Or highly likely Power supply since it doesnt even POST.
Great vid! Been telling people the same thing for awhile myself. The rx 470 4gb is leagues better than the rx 550 4gb and for the same price! Although the 550 is a pretty good option for those office machines without gpu power cables
My very first graphics card that i bought was MSI RX580 RedDevil, a total beast for 1080p mid to high settings. Then sold the card, got a Sapphire RX580. Then swapped it with another RX580, but an ROG OC. Card a bit problem, crashes at times. But damn it was a beast. RX580 was the peoples' champion.
I bought a couple of these to go along Xeon V3 CPUs and motherboard to build very cheap workstations and to add to an existing VM server as a GPU passthrough and it is just perfect as a cheap display adapter for desktop apps (not gaming). Got also a used 580 for a cheapo gaming pc and it was quite good and pretty amazing value.
I got RX580 2048SP of AliExpressed for 87.30 CAD in Jan 2024 for a side mini PC. It was white. not too wide or long ( so it fit ) and had its 2 fans be of RGB rainbow style.
6:40 I'm pretty sure that's normal cause every car or motorcycle that's decently fast has that effect in Cyberpunk. Unless you're talking about how the effect looks more like a stationary image as opposed to the usual cool effect it gives.
I love (/s) how, with the appearance of FSR and DLSS, game performance got divided between "looks" and "feels". In some cases, it "looks presentable, feels like molasses" in others "feels passable, looks smeared in vaseline".
I have a low profile RX 550 4 GB in a SFF PC. Works great. But I would suggest a brand new Intel ARC A310 .. can be had for $99 in lo pro form from ASRock. Not a very powerful gpu, but brand new, has fully updated drivers, and can play Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p lowest settings at 45 fps without FSR or Xess (which actually works well on Cyberpunk).
Mr. Wid, I believe that after image in 2077 is just the reflection of the back of the car off of the road itself! Have a great day and it was a lovely video to watch before I go to work!

This video could have helped me a lot in 2019 when I got a RX550 for my desktop.Fortunately I played only dota 2 so it was just bearable enough for my use case😅
I'm also surprised that 470 card you got is cool, since most reviews and buyers report that is has a bad cooling and reaches 80c and starts thermal throttling (it also a 470D which is a cut down version of the 470 and equal to the 560XT which I wish you can do another video on)
Dawid are your Msi afterburner overlay settings anywhere you’ve got it set up exactly how I want it and for the life of me messing around in there gets me no where! :)
The reason Cyberpunk looks odd even with FSR disabled is because the game uses a native TAA implementation that is incredibly poorly tuned, and a number of temporal shaders. Also, when you mentioned that the RX580 did not have the same after image, it actually still does, just less noticable. The bumper can be seen duplicated above your finger. This is yet again another example of CDPR not properly implementing the feature.
Running an rx580 from release, don't feel a need to upgrade, can run all I want, even space marine 2, not high settings not anything super, but works good enough for me! I can't really afford anything new, and the performance is decent

Hey Dawid, love the video. But I have a few gripes (with all tech youtubers mind you) about the definition of "usable esports gpu"... Having worked 7 years in that industry now, the BARE minimum for an esports gpu should be where the 1% lows are the average fps shown here.... 94fps is nowhere near enough for esports titles nowadays simply because of the outright *need* for a high refresh rate. not only professionally, but also in general esports centric communities 90-100fps being "acceptable" is the minimum nowadays simply due to the nature of these games. when CS:GO came out and was popularised, it was still acceptable for people to play 60fps on 60hz with a good frametimes, but times have definitely changed...
The RX580 isn't hitting the intended speeds, Mine does the same thing and I realized these chinese Rx580's default to 100 watt tdp which I had to push the power limit to 150 to get the full performance. I might look into flashing mine to accept the 150 watts by default

Note: CS2 often stutters on the first match on first launch cause it's still compiling stuff or whatever. Ideally you should start a match, quit, relaunch and then there should be less of it
steam can compile all the shaders in advance. i did this on linux and it took 1h and didn't help at all lmao
I just found one of these in Tarkov! ( Yes, I know the tarkov card is actually a GTX 750 TI as I have one on display)
AliExpress and GPU are not positive words
I dunno, recently saw a guy buy a 6600M card from alie and overclocking it. He got great performance for 100 bucks.
They just took mobile GPU's and turned them into cards, with active cooling. Giving you space to overclock quite a bit.
@@transformerstuff7029 Obviously there are some good deals bruh
nah, aliexpress and HDD are not positive words. Cuz hdds are fake there, not gpus
@@malachkah ton of fakes gpus there too man haha
I love me some aliexpress. But it's scary place to buy tech.
Did have GREAT experience buying mechanical keyboards though.
@@malachkah
its not fake, just learn how to buy from aliexpress
there are a fake sellers, just don't buy from them.
Given the prices I kinda doubt it, but it's almost like the 470 has 8GB and the 580 4GB...? That'd explain the minimums.
Soyo used to be a good, popular motherboard manufacturer - back when we had way more manufacturers like Aopen, Chaintech, DFI etc. Soyo ceased trading and hasn't existed since2009, so anything using the name Soyo is already a scam. Soyo hasn't existed as an Electronics manufacturer for 15+ years!
@@chrisfanning5842 That’s very interesting! Thanks for the info. 👍
I think in some parts such as my land the brand is sort of combined with Kyo. So they make boards, SSDs and stuff still, but under the Kyo Soyo name. Idk if its the same co. being acquired, or if its just a similar name and they have nothing in common, but yeah they're still around here.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff "While no longer operational in US and Taiwan, most of the assets were shipped to Shenzhen, China, and PC production still goes on for the Chinese market."
@@bayuchandrasukma820 So I did some digging and Maxsun and Soyo share the same head office (12th Floor, To-Win Building, 30 Huaxia Rd, Guangzhou) Despite this, there's no other indication that Soyo is owned by Maxsun, and no mention of it either on Soyo's or Masun's websites. It's possibly Maxsun bought the rights to the brand name and logo when Soyo was being liquidated under Chapter7 bankrupcy filings.
Soyo does in fact still exist, and they do still make and sell products, just not in Western markets. They're a great budget option here in Asia.
4:51 Is diabodical
I am rocking an RX 580 still. Modded Fallout 4 on high, all the new NFS games on medium low, AC Unity on medium. And no big stutters
What about testing older cards like this with lossless scaling? To boost performance on a budget?
Anyways i miss the car Dawid used to drive in Cyberpunk to benchmark pc's in the past.
That cute little thing.
Unlikely benchmarkers, I felt it is even better than LS FG.
yep, that's the experience... thankfully i finally left that thing... mine's a Sapphire RX550 4GB, did well enough for 1366x768 monitor but when I switched to 1080p, damn...
It's the card packaging Linus got in his recent video. Crazy how the box screams Nvidia while it's an AMD
Ngl, when i saw the thumbnail i swore i was looking at an old Gigabyte 750Ti. Lol
im glad he didnt look down on the 750 ti
😂 in the brilliant ad at the start you say 'Data' the correct amd the wrong way both in 5 seconds 😀 love you Dawid 😊
For anyone curious:
Motherboard is a OEM samsung h61s1 (which has a VERY old bios version from 2011 and is a legacy boot)
PSU is OEM as well, its a samsung 350watt
CPU is an i5-2400
Might be motherboard incompatibility as i heard that radeon gpu dont like legacy bios. Or highly likely Power supply since it doesnt even POST.
dont stop making vids i love these
Great vid! Been telling people the same thing for awhile myself. The rx 470 4gb is leagues better than the rx 550 4gb and for the same price! Although the 550 is a pretty good option for those office machines without gpu power cables
In China, such a configuration is already benn a very popular "budget" combination, it incluudes an E3 or E5 intel xeon CPU, plus an RX580 GPU.
You are wrong. Red devil is a line up from the brand Powercolor not MSI
@@chengizkhan8741my bad your royal highness, I got it mixed up due to the colour scheme. Yes your greatness, it was a PowerColor Rx580 RedDevil.
@@adambasri3397 Apologizes accepted, dear subject 😂
I bought a couple of these to go along Xeon V3 CPUs and motherboard to build very cheap workstations and to add to an existing VM server as a GPU passthrough and it is just perfect as a cheap display adapter for desktop apps (not gaming). Got also a used 580 for a cheapo gaming pc and it was quite good and pretty amazing value.
Looks like a DVI-D port, as opposed to DVI-I which also carries a VGA signal...
what if you disable core 0 on task manager? its the re-appearing tweaks people use to get more performance.
I've seen that after effects thingy on rtx2080 and 3080 also. It happened when I was switching settings and trying stuff and doing benchmarks
I weirdly appreciate the new scruffy t-shirt with the hole in it. It shows that it’s done some work in its time, get that bad boy framed
I bought an SJS RX 580 2048 SP for $59.95 on AliExpress absolutely mint
I love (/s) how, with the appearance of FSR and DLSS, game performance got divided between "looks" and "feels". In some cases, it "looks presentable, feels like molasses" in others "feels passable, looks smeared in vaseline".
No grooves cut in the heat sink by the way it was extroooooded then chopped into a heat sink size chunk
Wonder if there's currently an issue with the 500 series drivers / cards - the 1% lows on that 470 blew them _both_ out of the water.
I've got those exact same soyo 580 2048sp's in two of my youngsters machines, pretty perfect price to performance, for the use case.
Mr. Wid, I believe that after image in 2077 is just the reflection of the back of the car off of the road itself! Have a great day and it was a lovely video to watch before I go to work!
No, that's ghosting from low framerate and the saturation of TAA search space, where it can't track motion vectors out this far.
I really wanted to keep my RX580, it plays everything BUT the games releasing this year.. Final Fantasy, Starfield etc. I ended up moving to an RX 5700 XT, it's honestly amazing.
I bought a Soyo rx580 2048 new for 60 bucks almost 3 years ago, it still workibg and running every game that i’ve tried on it. It came in the same box but the foam inside where cutted qith the shape of the card not with foam pads until they reach the card like the one on the video xD. Like from Galicia
Just picked up a 2048 sp RX 580 gpu from Soyo in white for a super budget build for a 12 year old. Made one for a family friend's kid, and now the kids friend wants the same pc, so making a duplicate for them in the next 2 weeks.
You can try AMD RX 5600 XT Challenger D 6G OC from about ~ 150$. I bought new from retail store before upgrading to 7900 GRE
This video could have helped me a lot in 2019 when I got a RX550 for my desktop.Fortunately I played only dota 2 so it was just bearable enough for my use case😅
Well, it was not that bad. It did run Witcher 3 at 1080p low, GTA V at 1080p high, Dark Souls 3 at 1080p med etc ...
I used an RX 550 when I got back into PC gaming after several years. I had no idea what was good or not but only had intel integrated graphics
The reviews and sales numbers for the RX 550 come from the time of the GPU shortage
Thanks for the review. If I had this old card it would be realy frustrating to use when playing games. Even at low settings.
You gotta do some emulation tests, PS3, PS2, Switch, I'm sure the 550 would do well!
Great vid!
The 1% lows on the 470 look so good compared to even the 580. Maybe just lucky on the GPU lottery but still impressive how it keeps up!
You should buy the most expensive pre-built available and check if it's any better and reasonable then cheaper pre-builts
for 40€ you can get a P106-100, as long as your processor has iGPU you're settled, using one for my VM without any issue
I'd love to see you look at what _cheap_ graphics cards are out there that do add more video outs, but aren't rip offs?
I'm also surprised that 470 card you got is cool, since most reviews and buyers report that is has a bad cooling and reaches 80c and starts thermal throttling (it also a 470D which is a cut down version of the 470 and equal to the 560XT which I wish you can do another video on)
Man there are so many channels and youtubers telling people to stop buying garbage and get informed before making purchases but they still do it.
It still performs similiarly to the 1650m without a mux switch
Dawid are your Msi afterburner overlay settings anywhere you’ve got it set up exactly how I want it and for the life of me messing around in there gets me no where! :)
Its not bad, it does a specific job i like - Be very very low power, modern and act as a troubleshooting videocard in all kinds of random shit.
I don’t use fidelity fx but I do use dlss and that after image also sometimes happens with dlss. Interesting but don’t know what causes it sometimes
Time for Dawid to get time appropriate gear for other kinds of comparisons.
I heard Soyo Dragon and immediately went back 20 years to my first real PC build with an Althon XP and a HUUUUUGE 80gb hard drive. Wow! Had no idea Soyo was still around
It's a different company now. Teclast group, Maxsun.
soyo got bought by maxsun and they both make pc parts
I've got one of these. I develop my indie game on it - Vulkan support and all.
I liked this channel... but the No Man's Sky desktop theme made me love it.
For about the about the same price as the RX 550 you can get a used 980 TI for $75 to $100 it has 6gb Vram and you should be able to play CS2GO at 1080 medium.
New office setup looks fire
This was my first Gpu fo gaming, man i have lot of memories with it
I think I made the right choice when my only new budget options a couple of years ago was an RX 550 or an RX 6400 and went with the latter. :)
i still want to know more about the "usb2.0 high speed" floppy drive in the intro of all of Dawids videos
that's an SD/CF card reader, it uses the USB header connectors hence the "USB 2.0 high speed" badge on it. I have one similar but it's USB 1.0
I don’t think I’ve ever doom scrolled since covid. I was really thinking Left 4 Dead 2 was gonna happen IRL
You should test Fortnite on DX11 Performance mod you would have gotten 2-5x the fps
DX11 normal and DX12 is surprisingly demanding these days since the move to UE5
8:35 DAWID DONT ABBREVIATE CYBERPUNK DAWIDD
The RX580 isn't hitting the intended speeds, Mine does the same thing and I realized these chinese Rx580's default to 100 watt tdp which I had to push the power limit to 150 to get the full performance. I might look into flashing mine to accept the 150 watts by default
Damn. You're better off with iGPUs these days. Even Intel once Arrow Lake is released. :O
But you also need whole system for that, that are much pricier. Though I am not gonna justify buying that card brand new. Better get a used 1650
the Radeon 780m is quite a bit faster than the 550 but it doesn't fit anywhere in my gaming PC.

Hey Dawid. Very good and funny video as usual. It's crazy how people buy the worse graphics card from the same seller. I had the rx 470 nitro version for 8 years.. It was very good for 1080p gaming or in some games even 1440p...
