Bro Brandon, I purchased this exact same gimbal because it was recommended by so many tech TH-camrs. Unfortunately, it broke in less than two weeks, the gimbal would not open up entirely i think i broke it. The phone holder also snapped in half. I was so upset and disappointed, I wish It did not break so easily. I lost my money as a student. :(
@@aashayrane8555 you couldn’t have because this just released today. Also, Insta360 gives you a refund if it breaks, so just send it back. Although I’ve never heard of anyone having that issue

I have an Aochuan S2 that I got this past winter that is pretty comparable, function-wise, but it’s also a lot bigger (and has a 20 hour battery & lights), but its size makes it a pain to take on trips sometimes. Looks like this wouldn’t even be a second thought.
Hey any Idea why my Flow Pro wont switch between front and back camera in the native app? It works with the Insta360 app. Like you've shown at 8:11 it should work with the native app aswell?
Almost perfect, but id honestly trade the selfie stick and tripod for a larger battery and and a removable control handel so I could put on the end of a longer selfie stick and still control it

Brilliant video Brandon, and the end illustrated to me that whilst it’s an amazing product, you normally have to put it on the legs to use tracking and I think the dealbreaker is that it doesn’t seem to be stable and it wobbles when tracking on those legs.

So glad you made a video on this. Saw a TH-cam short from Unbox Therapy and because I am subscribed to your channel (great work on all your Apple OS reviews), your video popped up in my notifications this morning. 🙂 I saw the DJI OSMO 6 on special here in South Africa and was tempted to get one, but after watching your video, I asked my daughter when her friend is coming from USA to visit (Sept btw). Contacted him and he said yeah he will bring me one with. I went on the link you provided and with the free spotlight, the order showed a free flask was also included (bonus!), so ordered one immediately. The older Flow is currently double the price here and even buying one from Amazon without the free extras, still way cheaper.
Brandon, will the standard 360 pro model connect to the magnetic mount of the iPhone 15 Pro without having to purchase an additional magnetic mount? I am confused as to the need for the magnetic mount.
No. From what I am reading in the online user manual The magnetic surface on the gimbal will not attach directly to a MagSafe iPhone. In order to use MagSafe on your iPhone 15 Pro you have to buy the Magnetic Phone Mount that is sold separately. Otherwise, you have to use the clamp style mount that is included with the flow pro that grips the sides of the phone and the flow pro magnetically attaches to it. I imagine they did it this way because not all phones have MagSafe.
Brandon, a great video, thank you. A couple of things not covered, just to help viewers manage their expectations, was it me or was it wobbling when it was on the stand and it was tracking you, by that I mean the stand was wobbling?

I have to admit that I only use my Insta360 flow for 360° photos and not much else. Sometimes I make videos and I do like the fact that this new one does do 360° thank you for confirming that. Is it gonna make a difference for 360° photos?

A few months ago they did an update where you could replace the 360° photo that comes with each home environment with one of your own choosing. So I go out to different places in my city and I take these 360° photos and then use them inside my quest headset. It’s also a nice way to preserve an area for future viewing. I’m wondering what it would look like inside my Apple Vision Pro when I finally get one. I also use the Insta360 ONE X2 360 to make 360° videos that I then watch inside my quest three.
Did they add a switch to allow it to track non-reversed front camera shots? That was a big issue for me with the original model. If I used a video app with a non-reversed front camera, the tracking worked backwards.
the cheap build quality looks the same as the OG. Insta lost me with there BS with creators not aloud to say they were sponsored. I'll just keep running with my DJI Pocket 3 with 1" sensor and Bluetooth Mics
I have the DJI pocket and love it. This Flow Pro, however, is much better than my Osmo 6 and the build quality is basically the same. So as far as standalone gimbals go, this is the best under 150 imo. As for the sponsorship stuff, that was a little shady (if it actually happened, no contract pitched to me had any clause like that) but tbh that's mostly on the creators for going along with it.
The handle is way too short, the extension too. And with a smartphone attached the too short handle causes pain in your hand. I tried the InstaFlow and honestly who did come up with that stupid design?
It works fine for my average sized hands but if you have big hands it might be a struggle. I have my extension from the Osmo mobile 6 that I use with this insta360 flow pro lol
Does the new gimbal now support geotagging for all the pictures/videos you have taken? In the previous Insta360 flow this was not done. Meaning that would not be able to tell afterwards, where the photo/video was shot.

As an iPhone 15 ProMax user for photography, this gimbal looks too small and lacking the power to hoist the iPhone with accessories - I use the Brandon Li phone cage by SmallRig, with a microphone, filters, and sometimes a light attached, which doubles the weight of the already heavy 15 ProMax phone. While this gimbal looks ok for just the most basic use, it obviously can't handle a modern fully equipped iPhone using videographer. My DJi sits on a shelf because it's not up to the task either. Ronin for me now...
@@ricatiman I used this exclusively with the 15 Pro Max with the spotlight & DJI mic attached and had no issues. But i haven’t used a cage with it, so I’m not sure how that would hold up. Probably best for you to stick with Ronin for that setup tbh

That's the one I used before this one. Safe to say I'll be selling the Osmo because it doesn't have AI tracking, no 360º tracking, no app with the depth of features, and the build quality/battery life is better here, Hope they can catch up with the Osmo 7 though
When recording and switching between horizontal and vertical does the recording pause or do you see the switch with no stoppage of recording? Thanks. 🤙🏼
It doesn't stop or pause the recording, it continues through it. iOS also doesn't allow for pausing recordings but with the insta360 app you can switch between front & rear cameras without stopping the recording
The arm seems to be in the way of the lateral movement, so I guess you will then have to fiddle with the extension arm and the tilt on that arm. I wonder if it is an extra annoyance or actually not that bad to adjust. I also wonder how a DJI or rode mic works if you attach to the body but have to plug the cable to the phone if there are limitations to the phones movement. Thanks for this first look at the new gimbal. I’m very interested in it if those things above are easy and unobtrusive.
1. The arm only gets in the way if you go almost fully upside down when in FPV mode. It never annoyed me since my shots weren't that tilted but I guess it could be if you wanted to go completely upside down with a crazy shot. 2. Good question. I used my DJI mic with the receiver attached to the cold shoe - it works the same as the original Flow. No issue there. And the only limitations when having a cable attached (to charge for example) would be with how much give/slack is in the cable. The combination wasn't an issue for me though Thanks for watching! If you grab one, would love if you came back and followed up with your own take on the questions you were curious about.
I have the Osmo 6 mobile and yeah, this is much better so far. Biggest differences for me so far (aside from using native camera for tracking) are 360º pan motion, battery life, tilting selfie stick, and it doesn't randomly shut down all the time.

Honestly, the magnetic clamp doesn't even charge the phone. I don't see any "game changing" features. I have the original Flow and it works great.

@@GomarThePotato hmm if you don’t have a recent phone then probably the camera. But then again, the gimbal will work on future phones you get, so it might have more longevity

Can you compare it to the Osmo Mobile 6?
That's the one I used before this one. Safe to say I'll be selling the Osmo because it doesn't have AI tracking, no 360º tracking, no app with the depth of features, and the build quality/battery life is better here, Hope they can catch up with the Osmo 7 though

Clearly you are using the magnetic mount yourself… and.. you are NOT mentioning that the spotlight attachment clips only on the other mount.
Nope, I use both. And the clamp comes in the box anyways, so not sure what the issue is
7 minutes into the video and all Im seeing is a DJI Osmo Mobile with a different name.
When recording and switching between horizontal and vertical does the recording pause or do you see the switch with no stoppage of recording? Thanks. 🤙🏼
It doesn't stop or pause the recording, it continues through it. iOS also doesn't allow for pausing recordings but with the insta360 app you can switch between front & rear cameras without stopping the recording

The arm seems to be in the way of the lateral movement, so I guess you will then have to fiddle with the extension arm and the tilt on that arm. I wonder if it is an extra annoyance or actually not that bad to adjust.
I also wonder how a DJI or rode mic works if you attach to the body but have to plug the cable to the phone if there are limitations to the phones movement.
Thanks for this first look at the new gimbal. I’m very interested in it if those things above are easy and unobtrusive.
1. The arm only gets in the way if you go almost fully upside down when in FPV mode. It never annoyed me since my shots weren't that tilted but I guess it could be if you wanted to go completely upside down with a crazy shot.
2. Good question. I used my DJI mic with the receiver attached to the cold shoe - it works the same as the original Flow. No issue there. And the only limitations when having a cable attached (to charge for example) would be with how much give/slack is in the cable. The combination wasn't an issue for me though

Is this better than the osmo one because that one you can’t use the native camera app and that puts me off
I have the Osmo 6 mobile and yeah, this is much better so far. Biggest differences for me so far (aside from using native camera for tracking) are 360º pan motion, battery life, tilting selfie stick, and it doesn't randomly shut down all the time.
