    "The tandem are pursued by the Army and National Guard cars, but they're not gonna catch them. Keselowski pushes Edwards to the home stretch, he looks high then he looks low as Edwards swerves down to block. Keselowski is forced all the way down to the double-yellow line. He thinks about what happened to Reagan Smith the year prior, he knows that if he goes below that line, it's game over. The Miccosukee car has been forced as far down as it can possibly run, it can go no further. It has been given no choice but to stand its ground." -Emplemon

    BRAAAD KESELOWWWSKI WON THIS RACE!
    This was the first race I watched wire to wire. I had a Gordon birthday party the November before and was so disappointed when he went out stupid early, so was sort of pulling for Missouri boy Edwards, but also hoping for a good finish... and I got one of the best and scariest ever. So glad everyone was ok.

    *BRAD KESELOWSKI WON THIS RACE*

  • @Maverick33
    @Maverick33 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The finish of the 2009 Aaron's 499 is a direct result of how the finish of the 2008 AMP Energy 500 played out. The 2008 AMP Energy 500 finish created the "Wreck em or lose em" mentality we saw in 2009. The 2009 Coke Zero 400 finish was also a result of the 2008 AMP Energy 500 finish. Drivers didn't wanna get penalized and were afraid of going to the outside. So Keselowski and Stewart both just flat out dumped the leader to win instead. We still have that "Wreck em to win em" mentality at Daytona and Talladega today somewhat but it's not as prevalent as it was in 2009. That line rule seriously needs to be abolished. You figured the finish of the 2009 Aaron's 499 would've made them rethink the rule but it never did. I love Daytona and Talladega but hate how the only way to win at those tracks, is putting the leader into the fence and potentially hurting someone.

    • @stevedarms9914
      @stevedarms9914 ปีที่แล้ว

      I say this as someone who's always found Brad K. annoying: Carl wrecked himself. Brad faked to the outside, Carl fell for it, Brad went to the inside. Carl wrecked himself coming back down across Brad's nose. Period. Then at Atlanta the next year, Carl wrecked himself early in the race by coming DOWN across Keselowski again...and then later in the race, actually tried to commit vehicular homicide on Brad. Same thing with the Gateway crash that year when he wrecked Brad. Of these four crashes, Carl Edwards caused them all.

    I will never understand why Rick Hendrick took a 51 year old Mark Martin over a clearly up and coming talent in Keselowski just because Martin managed to have a good 2009 season.

      @@BeautifulAngelBlossom What kind of logic is that? Keselowski finished 3rd in the Nationwide standings and the only two people that beat him were full time cup drivers who wanted to steal a Nationwide championship. He was also 800+ points ahead of the next full time Nationwide driver. He wasn't one to tear up equipment.

      @@jamesbraun9842 How much longer would he have wanted Mark Martin? He was going to be 51 going into the 2010 season. Why would Brad make a handful of starts in 2009 if the plan wasn't for him to take over a cup ride full time in 2010? I think Rick picked Mark over Brad when Mark pulled together a 2nd place run in the standings which is why Brad dipped and went to Penske.

    Never forget that this was a crash that very much could have been avoided if NASCAR had not been so ticky tacky with enforcing the yellow line rule. Brad knew damn well what happened to Regan Smith the year before.
