Another great video from Andy and Hannah! Andy C is it this week. I really like the format of your videos. Very relaxing. I look forward to the next one. Thanks!
One of my favorite times of the week. Your question of age and change hits home for me. I was a very good high school player, but college, work, becoming a stepdad to twins and life in general kept me from playing or practicing much. When I had the time to play again I developed an issue with early extension for years. At 52 now, I’ve made a commitment to change and I’m turning the corner. It’s possible. Acceptance to the speed loss and persistence will pay off. Great course and content as usual Andy.
Stunning video in my favourite part of the UK for golf, which is North Wales. If you get the right weather it is truly unbeatable. For me, as we get older it is important to work with what you have and just tweak the basics. At the age of 68 my issues tend to be around the swing beginning to shorten and the old man stoop kicking in, so keeping the swing long and lazy together with good posture is key. Hannah [a] for me this week. Enjoy the off the beaten track tour, as much as we enjoy watching.
Pure class again, Andy. I would expect nothing less than a PXG advertisement during the video; they do pay the bills for the series. Not to mention that I have a whole bag of PXG and haven't played this well in many years.
Cracking video Andy - love the soundtrack.. A very beautiful setting and the new tee boxes make it playable for all abilities. Accommodation looks very cosy and snug. Some nice courses here in Cornwall, St.Enedoc, Trevose and Mullion (southernmost course in England) are all brilliant. I am 65 and the swing has slowed down but the accuracy improved (it had to) and the short game to make up for lack of distance. 😂 Hannah B for photo
Abedovey is a great course that I was lucky enough to play a few years ago. The 12th is something special. My 'soul' course is the Queens at Gleneagles. My mind and body relax playing it - it's stunningly beautiful throughout, with lots of have -a-go holes that make it so much fun. Recently I had a second trip to Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumerland, which runs a close second. I'm 60 now but playing better than I ever have - having left behind my brash and uncontrollable youthful game, and my middle aged angst game, I have now settled in to my seniors' competitive but have fun stage, which is just making my golf so enjoyable! Andy 'A' photo for me this week.
Another excellent video Andy. I thought the Darwin musings were a great addition. I really like Aberdovey and I can see why people feel it is course they have a personal connection to. Whenever I play there; there is a clear charm and 'big sky' ambience. I think you win on photo 's this time, I vote for B. The course where I feel the strongest attraction is Harlech. Hopefully you will be visiting again - a bit wet ATM though. Best Wishes as always. Keep up the good work.😊
Hannah B and Andy B. This series is one big love affair with the game of golf. I don’t think anyone else on TH-cam quite captured the essence of being present on a golf course as well as you folks. I just might have to chromecast this on my flat screen to get the most out of it.
Another beautiful and enjoyable episode Andy! Thank you for taking us along for the journey. I think I will plan a golf outing to your neck of the world and using your content to select some of the courses along with my brothers and cousin. Keep up the great work.
Wow Andy, played there about 20 years ago, brought back great memories to me thank you. We also played Borth and Ynyslas around that area, also a lovely linksy course. Really nice area as I recall.
Welcome home!. And what a place to start, Aberdovey, absolutely stunning Andy. Looking forward to where you go next. Best channel on TH-cam.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
OMG! What a stunning scenery, wonderful captured and edited Andy! Your videos are my weekly monday evening highlight! And you are never too old to change your swing: I am 67 years old and changed mine last autumn. Took me some time but I am now playing better (=more consistent) than I ever did before! 👍Hannah A for me this time.
Andy A.... course looks fantastic ,all very good photos this week , I had a complete swing change at 63 years old from last May, transformed the consistency, and let's see what this season brings 🤔
Hannah c this week Andy, great course, I've only played one links course in the UK and that is Knott End near Blackpool. Links front 9 parkland back 9. It was a great experience and I really enjoyed it. Played on Saturday here in Vienna Austria and the wind was gusting to 56 kph and the standard wind was 30 kph, tricky but enjoyed my first time out this year.
Great… what a place to be!!! …the more I watch your videos the more I consider to pack my bag and travel to Wales… i really should go! Thank you for your recommendations! 😊
I really enjoy your videos. When I lived in Britain, I didn't have the opportunity to play Aberdovey. I did drive through Snowdonia, and recalled the road you drove. Andy C was my favorite.
Nice chilled production Andy. I certainly concur with you about the age thing and sharpening one’s short game. I have found that yoga has helped my range of motion as well. Hannah ‘C’ for me this week.
Another fantastic video Andy. A beautiful looking course. And apologies for my ignorance, but I never realised you were from Wales. I have to admit I do love North Wales, some nice courses and stunning scenery.
It's a lovely course, played it quite a few times, even saw Dolphins near the shore on that elevated Par 3 green on the back nine. Nefyn (old course) would be a great video and as for a soft spot then Bamburgh Castle in Northumbria, stunning views of the beach and the castle from most holes. Keep on keeping on!
Think you made this video for me Andy. I turn 70 this year and used to be a half decent player playing off a 12 handicap. Now I struggle with my range of movement and lack of ability to concentrate for 18 holes. Every year we have a golf trip with my son and 2 friends, all under 40 and hit the ball a country mile. There's no way I'm going to beat them but if I play well enough to enjoy it, that's enough. This year's trip is on Saturday, playing Southport old links, Formby ladies and Hillside. Enjoyment is the name of the game at my age.
Andy B for me this week. What a stunning course. I do enjoy Reddish Vale Golf course in Stockport. Designed by McKenzie and nestled within the country park with a gentle stream meandering in and out. Peaceful as.
Andy, as we get older, of course we lose swing speed, but we also need to manage arms, shoulder and back pain. I recently changed my iron shafts from steal to graphite. It helps to minimize body pain and I can play more golf.
I so enjoy these videos Andy especially with the calming music. As always great cinematography. Hannah should get an Oscar😊. Hannah C for me. Look forward to the next.
Right, let’s get the important thing out the way first - Hannah C. Good use of the light in that one. Spent a lot of time back in the day holidaying in N.Wales, but wasn’t playing much then. Looks like that combination needs rectifying. Beautiful course, Andy. On the matter of aging; I reengaged with the game as lockdown arrived after a layoff of over 20 years and my clock sweeping past 60. I won’t deny it’s been tough. Lost distance has been made up to some degree by modern technology, but I still find myself trying to hit it hard rather than swinging smoothly. And I agree with your short game comment, that’s one area I’ve focussed on more these days, thanks to help from Mr Vokey!
Can’t pick a photo winner this week, they all look great. What a lovely course! I’ve never been to Wales but that course looks like the perfect excuse for a few days away.
Great photography and production of this video , a class above other TH-camrs. A nod to Bernard Darwin too , still worth reading about his thoughts and golfing experiences . My favourite quote of Darwin - “ It is only in solitude and preferably in the dusk , when the lights begin to glimmer in the distant houses that practice is truly heavenly , and the nearest possible approach to the great secret of golf may be discovered. “ Look forward to further videos .
And, I played Kington golf course in Herefordshire which would be a fantastic edition to off the beaten track. It’s breathtakingly beautiful and described as an inland links course and is the highest course above sea level in the uk at 1280 feet. Golf mates and Peter finch have been but your filming approach would suit it to the ground mate. Loving this series by the way, keep it going pal
Great video as usual Andy & your B photo wins. Always good to capture a ball close to the hole😅. Age is most definitely a factor in losing distance. I have sought solice in club technology, lighter shafts and regular flexes. Ok, lofts are stronger, but as many a wise golfer has said, its not how, its how many.
It’s ALWAYS windy at Aberdovey Andy! It’s a fantastic course. You also need to pop back to Llangollen. I know you reviewed it during Covid, but it’s worth going back. I was lucky enough to be a member there for a while when we moved north from the south coast, and it’s a wonderful place to play. And if you haven’t played Oswestry, you must. Just take an axe - you can’t get through 18 holes without visiting the trees a few times…. 😀
Great video as always. A course that you should feature on your off the beaten track series should be Halifax GC in West Yorkshire. Incredible setting and views for days all over the course. There’s not one weak hole, and while it looks short on the scorecard, because it’s on top of the moors, it plays a lot longer with the wind. Best layout in Yorkshire for me.
I applaud Aberdovey! High time all clubs move to a handicap based tee system. Well done them. On a separate note, I’d love you to visit St Enodoc for one of your trips. It’s a beautiful course, very photogenic and you’d love playing it. Cheers Andy, another cracking episode.
I've always had a stiff back and as I've got older (I'm 63) my swing is suffering from age related ailments. I've had to concede that I need to change my golf so that I can still enjoy it whilst playing within my limitations. By 'change my golf' I mean not just my swing but the need to use buggies as the arthritis won't let me walk round without really impacting my ability to keep going, as well as the recovery time between rounds. In a way it's increased my enjoyment of golf by slowing me down further giving me time to pause and enjoy everything around me.
Love the video and seeing a course in Wales. Conwy would be a nice course to play also. If you are going to Prestwick, which is so much fun, would love to see you swing back down the Mull of Kintyre and film from Machrihanish and Dunaverty.
Thank you mate for showing this course and on the last vid on the map, even if briefly😒, but as a Texan who comes to Scotland once a year exploring for golf courses it really helps that you give us a idea where you are. Yes we can google map it, but it is good to see. Thx to you I played Stonehaven it was amazing… maybe I’ll see you out and about this May??? Peace and joy
Great to see the changes at Aberdovey...one of my personal favourite courses...we have a house in Harlech and although st Davids is right there we always get out to Aberdovey it's a gem...I see some parallels with western Gailes (also a favourite) - classic 9 out and back, train and dunes...what else could you ask for! Keep up the great new content
Love it Andy. Aberdovey is on my bucket list, went just to look at it last year 😂. My favourite course though is llandrindod wells, stunning views, great all year round conditions and every hole is different. You'd love it.
Great video Andy !!! Never played there and need too this year, passed there the other week and there was water on the fairways 😢 roll on summer please
All the photos are great this week, but I think Hannah b pips it for me. Never played Aberdovey, however I think I may have to give it a visit because it looks beautiful 👍
I got a chance to visit Wales last fall and it is a magical place. Loved every minute. Played Penard and Nefyn. I’d play them everyday if I had a wish. I love Wales. Both kinds.
@@TheAverageGolfergreat staff, welcoming members, windy with cows in the fairway, castle views, blind shots, undulating greens, free drops out of cow paddies, strolling pedestrians, unseen bunkers, E Fencing around the greens in short, everything I love about golf. Not for the faint hearted.
Hannah A for me. Played Cleeve Hill last year (Cheltenham), quirky course with fantastic views and a Tom Morris/Mckenzie design. Otherwise we played st Michaels near St Andrews, tale of 2 9s but definitely worth a go.
Those PXG clubs look really nice! I have never tried them before. One of my favorite golfers plays with PXG clubs ( Celine Boutier). How about playing some courses in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and since I mentioned Celine Boutier, how about playing in France? ( You asked for suggestions.)
Another great video. Please don’t apologise really interested to hear what’s actually in the bag and are you changing the set up for links golf and or other courses and conditions?
Hannah ‘C’. Aberdovey definitely another course on the bucket list. Golf benches are their own story of what is sometimes 30 years of friendship, i too have started to pay attention to these ‘marques’. Accommodation looked great.
Beautiful place, looks freezing cold, but beautiful. Personally I won’t play unless it’s 60°F/15°C outside, that’s easily attainable here in Scottsdale, Arizona, though. 😂
Played the 3 in Scotland and loved them. Dornoch would be my soul course having travelled from South Africa twice to play it. Add Brora to Dornoch and Golspie for a worthwhile trip.
Another great course and video to suit. Trying the PXG 317T irons in just over a week to see what they are like. 👍 Hannah a for me, keep up the lovely work Andy
Given the winter we have had, the course was in amazing condition - credit to the greenkeeping staff. In terms of how difficult it is to change your swing when you are 50+ (by a fair bit!), some things bed in quickly but changes involving the big muscles take forever to rewrite your muscle memory because it has had decades to engrain the wrong things!
Your videos are always beautifully created and capture the essence of the place. Best golf cinematography on TH-cam imo
Big compliment thxs 🙏
The relaxing music. The beautiful scenery. Golf.... just beautiful.
Thanks

I am glad the game is coming along for you, I am trying to improve this year
Wow Andy what a sensational location for a golf course, captured by you with some super cinematography
Great course, great music, great commentary.....certainly one of your best films Andy & Hannah. Best Photo Andy C.

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for voting 👍

Yes I know the place, will try to visit
Funnily enough mine is Aberdovey, parents moved there 6 years ago and golf clubs always make the trip when visiting, beautiful place and great people.

Hannah A for me. Played Cleeve Hill last year (Cheltenham), quirky course with fantastic views and a Tom Morris/Mckenzie design. Otherwise we played st Michaels near St Andrews, tale of 2 9s but definitely worth a go.
Thanks for the heads up
Those PXG clubs look really nice! I have never tried them before. One of my favorite golfers plays with PXG clubs ( Celine Boutier). How about playing some courses in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and since I mentioned Celine Boutier, how about playing in France? ( You asked for suggestions.)
I will be in Ireland in May
@@TheAverageGolferGreat! Look forward to your video or videos!
Another great video. Please don’t apologise really interested to hear what’s actually in the bag and are you changing the set up for links golf and or other courses and conditions?
Thanks Ken, an explanation of my set up coming soon
You’re driving on the wrong side of the street dude! 😀
Those rough looking fairways remind me of what we have in central Texas.
You are right!
Hannah ‘C’. Aberdovey definitely another course on the bucket list. Golf benches are their own story of what is sometimes 30 years of friendship, i too have started to pay attention to these ‘marques’. Accommodation looked great.
That list gets longer 👍
🏴 never fails! Great video again Andy 👏🏻
Thank you 🙏
Another great volg Andy love the background music with the volgs its close today with the photos but the winner gies to Andy B
Thanks 👍
This video reminds me why I love the game to the core of my soul.
Thats nice to read Jim thxs
Great scenery this week. Wales is a beautiful place. One of my favourite courses is Conway. Hannah C for me
Beautiful 👍
Beautiful place, looks freezing cold, but beautiful. Personally I won’t play unless it’s 60°F/15°C outside, that’s easily attainable here in Scottsdale, Arizona, though. 😂
Dornoch, Boat of Garden, Golspie,Walton Heath
Only played Boat on that list, hopefully Golspie and Dornoch this year
Played the 3 in Scotland and loved them.
Good luck and thanks for comments Tony
For the 1st time Andy its you with A. Great, most enjoyable.
🤣
Given the winter we have had, the course was in amazing condition - credit to the greenkeeping staff.
In terms of how difficult it is to change your swing when you are 50+ (by a fair bit!), some things bed in quickly but changes involving the big muscles take forever to rewrite your muscle memory because it has had decades to engrain the wrong things!
It really was 👍
Andy A this week. Do you have a link for the accommodation please? Thanks and love the series
Thanks 👍 link In the description
You did the course proud. Great video.
As for my “golf soul” - Cruden Bay, by miles.

Always admire your chipping skill.
Cool. PXG clothing looks good on you. Nice bit of nosh at the end.
Very enjoyable
