I think this is the only version I've heard where Eric actually does that, pretty nice detail. I mean, really, you're gonna kill off a guy and then imitate him, you think your pupil of yours can't tell the difference between your voice and this fat spanish guy who she's been working under for quite a while as well? On a side note, between the piano piece and the 'offkey' part of what we hear, I would love to actually watch a full 'Don Juan Triumphant'.
I love how him singing the word 'prey' is our first indicator that this is not Piangi. It's incredibly subtle, but also not his voice. The second indicator being how cold his hands are further into the song, as indicated by Christine's reaction by retreating away. She knows something is wrong, but isn't sure if she's just being paranoid or not. By then, the audience is already invested in the song. And goodness knows, the show must go on. Yet she only knows for sure when she leans down to touch his face with hers, feeling the hard mask beneath.
This 25th anniversary edition made me love this musical almost to an obsession. I have now seen Phantom live two times, only problem is that no matter how good they are, my mind always compares them to this version and other Christines and Phantoms just aren't Ramin and Sierra.
That's definitely a better moment in the movie. Just an absolutely heartbroken look on his face and Christine looking at him with a mix of pity and understanding. Sad.
Same. xD But then, when he starts with that "All I ask of you" part and that voice, I just can't... Aaaaah, stop it, why are you torturing my poor little heart ? ;-;
When she's behind him during the part where she's singing about their bodies together, seducing him, and his hands turn to fists into his pants and then shake because he's so overwhelmed. God damn. His performance as the phantom is amazing! He loved her and wanted her so badly the poor man was about to have a freaking stroke. I love that this is a common trait between actors of the phantom. But I love how Ramin makes the most use of this trait
I caught that too when I watched the 25th anniversary performance. It was honestly a perfect detail, because we all know that feeling he had in that moment of finally feeling desired by Christine not only shocked him, but felt very much like a dream come true. Simple things like that really make a character realistic and not feel so fictional.
It's sooooooo sexy!!! Don't mean to sound creepy, but he is so convincing it turns me on!!! My favorite theater scene if all musicals. The forbidden passion sends chills up my spine.
Holy crap, I don’t know what it is but when the Phantom started begging for Christine to love him at the end I burst into tears. I think maybe because I’m in solitude too and I’ve never had a boy who’s loved me yet...
Ramin has this hauntingly seductive and beautiful color to his voice. Some of his notes just float in his register and give you chills...he completely ruined the role of the Phantom for me- I can’t listen to any other the Phantom beside him! He really embodied the Phantom in acting and vocals. His voice is completely addicted and really makes you feel like Christine- getting lured in by that voice. 💛
The difference between the live version and the movie is that in the movie, the Phantom does nothing to hide that he's the Phantom. When it's live, the Phantom even sort of changes his voice to imitate the man that he's replacing during this scene.
I think that Christine recognises his voice (He had been giving her singing lessons for 3 months prior), so that most likely gives it away for her. I noticed in the 25th DVD that she looks to Raoul. He most likely noticed the fear in her eyes and responded :)
Are you certain of that? How would he look like?? Who will play his equal??? Where will this be performed?? And more importantly, WHY HASN'T THIS HAPPENED YET???
In the last parts when he's saying "all I ask off you" makes it so much more emotional after reading the book understanding that he wasn't as awful as he seemed and that Christine actually did fall in love with him at one point and all he wanted was to live a normal life with the woman he loved. If you've never read the book I highly suggest you do cause it puts a whole new perspective on the characters
Kyla HInt - I agree, the book really gives a lot of information. In POTO he is kissed for the first time - not even his mother kissed him. He thought the woman would die if he kissed her. What I love about LND is they make love - both virgins. Then he has a child. Never in his life could he imagine these things. In the book, however, he tries to die of a broken heart because he does let C leave with idiot Raoul.
Ana Sofia - thank you. I will get the Kay novel. I didn't want to read the original, but when I did, I loved Erik even more. I am addicted to POTO25 and LND - LND even more than POTO these days. All through POTO, I knew she loved Erik. Never understood the Raoul thing - especially after reading the book. He was such a child. The way ALW portrayed him in LND fits with the Raoul in the book. A spoiled child. He couldn't handle Christine's gift and what Erik meant to her. I am annoyed that Erik was portrayed as a murderer in POTO. In his past, he was, but the Persian said that he made Erik stop that. Buquet died because he was nosing around and got caught in the torture chamber (his fault) and there was no Piangi in the book TO kill. It is very easy to accept Kay's interpretation based on the LeRoux book. After the Persian and Raoul were rescued from the Torture chamber. They are taken to Erik's house and are nursed back to health by Christine.
Ana Sofia - Me, too. I talk to myself about them all the time! The music is in my head, for sure. Raoul was the childhood sweetheart and Christine was forced to grow up. Yes, the way Sierra played her in POTO25 - the only version I've seen. I'm a senior lady and never saw POTO because of an argument I had with my late husband in 1991! I bought tickets to the show in LA, but they were for the day after Michael Crawford left and hubby refused to go. Took it out on POTO. One thing that might have influenced Sierra's choices was that she and Ramin had just done LND together and this was the first time they had done POTO together. Their chemistry is amazing. Raoul would not have been allowed to marry Christine - the brother was trying to stop their elopement when he died (was killed?). What bothers me about LND is her doubt about Erik and wanting to be with him. She's constantly arguing with herself and even seems to want to leave with Raoul, despite the fact that everytime Erik shows up she wants to kiss and hold him. Just ordered the Kay book and look forward to reading it. Since no one else seems to be posting, I don't see a problem with long posts. :)
Ana Sofia - Many posts that I've seen suggest that POTO25 is the ultimate performance. The only objections tend to be about Michael and Sarah - the originals. I think this is our good fortune and I really appreciate that ALW decided to do a full blown production instead of actors standing around singing with scripts in their hands. They did the Oz production of LND with different actors which I really don't care for, much prefer to watch the bootlegged videos of Rierra. One of my first experiences with LND was the death scene in the Oz LND and all I could say was: oh, she died. When I watch that scene with Rierra I cry every time - just like I cry when Erik sings to the music box and C returns and he tells her he loves her. Back to the comment you made about C not telling R that she loved him in return, I agree. Am going to see the production of LND in April so will see all the changes. I have finally forgiven Mark for being such a purist so many years ago - I'm kind of that way myself now.
Exactly! This and Les Miserables are my favorites. And think of this scene- this is ALL or NOTHING for the Phantom- Love, sex, death- his ONE chance at his love- no way out LITERALLY. MASTERPIECE- Thanks to all who bought us this mastery.
I feel the opposite! The movie is the only version I've ever seen that feels like it has real passion instead of just putting on an act for an imaginary audience within a show.
Logan Thomson Fair enough, I'm just not a fan of the movie because I didn't really like the performances as much as I did here. But hey, I can agree to disagree!
@@L3131L Well in my opinion in a movie they have many takes to make it look perfect and they had many chances to redo it to make it better. With a stage performance, you have to nail that in one performance and you can't mess up and start again. Which is why I personally love the stage show better than the movie. I'm not denying the movie was good because I loved it too. I think Emmy and Gerard did amazing jobs.
@@L3131L I hate to call you uncultured because I sound like a snob, but I have to. Phantom was written as theatre, and the music and lyrics were written to take advantage of that. Maybe you're not sensitive to this, but I find the movie so much cheesier than the theatrical version for that reason.

Pretty interesting the last line sung by Phantom "point of no return" before Sierra starts singing. He sings without the Italian accent and like himself!! I think Christina realized at this moment that was him. Remembering the body contact he did at the same time...
Actually I'm pretty sure she discovers it when he puts his hand on her, because she always makes a point to look at his hand and notices that it's trembling. It happens in almost every production of phantom, it's pretty interesting!
Ramin and Sierra have spoiled me ... When I look in Hamburg in September Mathias Edenborn and Valerie Link, I will compare them with each other and find that they are indeed in Germany my # 1 but are not international.
The most amazing thing happened at my school on Friday. On the bus everyone was listening to Nicki Minaj and Lady GaGa and when I started playing this, it got silent and everyone listened. My faith in humanity is restored :)
eroda588 I believe that the power of the Phantom, no matter who plays him, comes out in each and every syllable. It's impossible to not get swept up by his possessive soul.
So I saw this on Pinterest I think but I wanted to share. At around 5:45 , when Christine pulls off the phantoms mask, he whispers “damn” under his breath. Correct me if this is wrong, but the fact thing I saw this on said that ramin improvised that and also said “shit” after Christine kissed him in the final lair scene. I just felt the need to share this, as I personally love picking up subtle hints and quiet stuff characters say. I feel like it makes them seem so much more real and reveals a lot of personality. Also one of the many things I love about this pair❤️
That would be great! Also not many know that Christine was playing as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet during Think Of Me. It would be funny if Andrew did the same with that.
Guys, the full show is back up again for limited time! Watch it now before it goes. In UK, it will be up for 24 hours, and in the rest of the world, it will be up for 48 hours. Don't miss the the opportunity to relive the experience! Also, please donate for the Actor's funds. It's gone now..
I'm in 7th grade, so most kids are saying "When I grow up, I want to be...". Then they say some different job, like doctor, or football player. When people ask me, I respond: "I WANNA BE CHRISTINE!!!!" I'm not a normal child...
Anyone notice that Ramin’s Phantoms imitates Piangi’s Italian inflections slightly throughout this song? That is until Christine discovers it’s really him (the Phantom)
my drama teacher showed me this phantom of the opera in 4th grade and and that year i had watched this version at least 57 times i love Ramin and Sierra.
You have come here In pursuit of your deepest urge In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent Silent I have brought you That our passions may fuse and merge In your mind you've already succumbed to me Dropped all defenses, completely succumbed to me Now you are here with me, no second thoughts You've decided, decided Past the point of no return No backward glances Our games of make believe are at an end Past all thought of if or when No use resisting Abandon thought and let the dream descend What raging fire shall flood the soul? What rich desire unlocks its door? What sweet seduction lies before us Past the point of no return The final threshold? What warm, unspoken secrets will we learn Beyond the point of no return? You have brought me To that moment where words run dry To that moment where speech disappears into silence Silence I have come here Hardly knowing the reason why In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenseless and silent And now I am here with you, no second thoughts I've decided, decided Past the point of no return No going back now Our passion play has now at last begun Past all thought of right or wrong One final question How long should we two wait before we're one? When will the blood begin to race The sleeping bud bursts into bloom? When will the flames at last consume us? Past the point of no return The final threshold The bridge is crossed, so stand and watch it burn We've passed the point of no return
It boggles my mind that every time one uploads something outsdtanding, practically on the genius level, there are always those, who are eger to put a dislike. I wonder, dislike folks, do you dislike the fact that these are still shots shown to the music OR is it the amazing impeccable singing of the two inimitable Broadway stars? Hats off for both of them to my way of thinking.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR SIERRA TO PLAY CHRISTINE AGAIN IN FRIGGIN PARIS WHERE THIS TAKES PLACE AJDJDJEKSMDN SO I REVISITED THIS +++ THE PARISIAN RAOUL IS REALLY HOT JUST SAYING

This is one of my 2 main favorite songs in this opera play and film. In fact I like this song so much from the Phantom of the Opera that I can now actually sing the whole song to myself whenever I feel like it.
I always wondered what it would sound like if literally, anyone other than Gerard Butler sang this song, and I'm glad I asked that. Ramin Karimloo is a great performer. I am a little disappointed I couldn't find Phillip Quast on here, seeing as I'd heard that he did six years performing Phantom of The Opera once he retired from Les Miserables.
I love how he changes his voice to imitate Piangi!!! This song is just fantastic.

Okay- get this- what if Andrew Lloyd Webber- What if he composed an opera/musical called "Don Juan Triumphant" with this song in it!?
Liv Twomey I am SO down with this plan!
:D
That would be great! Also not many know that Christine was playing as Juliet from Romeo and Juliet during Think Of Me. It would be funny if Andrew did the same with that.
omg i would so watch that
And Sierra and Ramin singing it!
This is my absolute favorite recording I've ever heard of this! Both the singers AND the orchestra are amazing
BASK IN THE FUCKING GLORY OF PAST THE POINT OF NO RETURN
Am i the only one who hears him say damnit at 5:46? (listen with headphone)
Yea dw I hear it aswell
50sBreakdown He Does! At first I didn't notice because it's so breathy. Nice catch!
50sBreakdown Yeap, you're right!. That's the prove Ramim really believes he's the phantom and not is another character. I think he's the phantom.
He is actually saying "turn" because Christine kinda cut him off during "return"
:)
wow haha I've listen to this so many times and never noticed until I read your comment
it is unmesurable pleasure to watch her singing . lovelly voice
The chills Ramin's voice gives me at 1:55
6:55 when you're tired of your stalker stalking you

PAUSE AT 6:56. I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING. SOMEONE MAKE A MEME OUT OF IT.

That is frickin hilarious. I burst out laughing and scared everyone around me. Thanks for that!
I SCREAMED! OH LORD THAT'S GOOD
"When you hear the teacher gives out an unexpected test"
Amelia Page
I’m ded.
came here after listening to the movie version of phantoms version of this number. Just some nice cool, clean water to wash out my ears
Fairly certain I'm pregnant after listening to this #SHOOK
Same
I just cant handle the fact that he didnt finished that note.. It is so frustrating! I keep coming back to that moment 6:53 and theres that 'NAHHH'
I was feeling so emotional over this not until it reached 6:56.....frigging funny

Also, please donate for the Actor's funds.
It's gone now..
Ramin is my favorite phantom for sheer emotion and talent followed by Gerard Butler for nostalgia
After just seeing the movie I come here and I'm all like "What? O_O This is magic."
I'm in 7th grade, so most kids are saying "When I grow up, I want to be...".
Then they say some different job, like doctor, or football player.
When people ask me, I respond: "I WANNA BE CHRISTINE!!!!"
I'm not a normal child...
Olivia Twomey Lols! You are not alone! 😁
Music Goddess Thank you. *Stares dramatically out closest window*
Olivia Twomey Same here friend same here.
Olivia Twomey ㄞ
Olivia Twomey I said the same thing when I was young and now I playing her!
Fact: Ramin karimloo played for love never dies and it was badass ❤
Anyone notice that Ramin’s Phantoms imitates Piangi’s Italian inflections slightly throughout this song? That is until Christine discovers it’s really him (the Phantom)
my drama teacher showed me this phantom of the opera in 4th grade and and that year i had watched this version at least 57 times
i love Ramin and Sierra.
You have come here
In pursuit of your deepest urge
In pursuit of that wish which till now has been silent
Silent
I have brought you
That our passions may fuse and merge
In your mind you've already succumbed to me
Dropped all defenses, completely succumbed to me
Now you are here with me, no second thoughts
You've decided, decided
Past the point of no return
No backward glances
Our games of make believe are at an end
Past all thought of if or when
No use resisting
Abandon thought and let the dream descend
What raging fire shall flood the soul?
What rich desire unlocks its door?
What sweet seduction lies before us
Past the point of no return
The final threshold?
What warm, unspoken secrets will we learn
Beyond the point of no return?
You have brought me
To that moment where words run dry
To that moment where speech disappears into silence
Silence
I have come here
Hardly knowing the reason why
In my mind I've already imagined our bodies entwining, defenseless and silent
And now I am here with you, no second thoughts
I've decided, decided
Past the point of no return
No going back now
Our passion play has now at last begun
Past all thought of right or wrong
One final question
How long should we two wait before we're one?
When will the blood begin to race
The sleeping bud bursts into bloom?
When will the flames at last consume us?
Past the point of no return
The final threshold
The bridge is crossed, so stand and watch it burn
We've passed the point of no return
Bro this guys voice holy cow 😍
I love the way Ramin pronounces "pursuit". Well, that and also everything else that he sings :)
Angela!
You are absolutely gorgeous and very sensual 🇨🇦 ♥️ 😀 ❤️
Emmy is my favorite as well :) Her voice is like magic.
Ramin and Sierra do it best.
I apsolutly love sierra voice. X
She was also great as Ariel in 'The Little Mermaid' stage musical.
I'M SO EXCITED FOR SIERRA TO PLAY CHRISTINE AGAIN IN FRIGGIN PARIS WHERE THIS TAKES PLACE AJDJDJEKSMDN SO I REVISITED THIS +++ THE PARISIAN RAOUL IS REALLY HOT JUST SAYING
who's playing phantom?
+crystalDM96 Gardar Thor Cortes I believe (I'm not sure though but I presume)
Yes it is him and he played the Phantom love never dies in Hamburg. Sierra is amazing as always!
+Cornelia Hindemith Thanks! I also checked out Fantomes' website and saw the full cast not too long ago too (where I got my assumption confirmed) and idk if it's just me but all the Raouls (Bastien and understudies) are STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL hOLY CHEEsE BALls
I was going to see it as well this month and now I'm heartbroken about the fire and that I can't see it :(
My fav 😍😍😍 I’m gonna have to visit NYC... it’s been awhile since I’ve seen it..
Sierra is amazing!! :)
The play is available on Amazon to rent or buy. It's not expensive. You will not regret buying it. It's the best performance I have EVER seen.
Wow they are soooo good
The best version for me. ❤❤❤
The end kills me omg Ramon could slay me with that voice and I would thank him
HE ROLLS HIS R'S HE JUST GOT MORE PERFECT!
God, how many times a day/week/month I listen to this song. :D
1:39, that derp face though
I wish someone had put up the video of this instead of pictures.
It would have been impossible due to copyright
I believe the DVD is stil for sale.
This is one of my 2 main favorite songs in this opera play and film. In fact I like this song so much from the Phantom of the Opera that I can now actually sing the whole song to myself whenever I feel like it.
I can sing the entire show
They are so good together that I feel some kind of fool betrayal once they sing with someone else.
Sorry for my bad english ;-)
I always wondered what it would sound like if literally, anyone other than Gerard Butler sang this song, and I'm glad I asked that. Ramin Karimloo is a great performer. I am a little disappointed I couldn't find Phillip Quast on here, seeing as I'd heard that he did six years performing Phantom of The Opera once he retired from Les Miserables.
ah yes my fanfiction..
When his imitation of Piangi breaks at 0:34 to hit that one smooth af note 💙💙💙
I FELT THAT "US" AT 2:44
The best song by the best Christine and the best Erik!
Ramin's growl. ^.^
5:15
I love how her voice just rings out so purely at the very beginning. I have a serious crush on Sierra.
I love this piece of music. Thank you so much !!!!
6:55 When the teacher assigns a pop quiz
