A league is about 3.4 miles, or 5.5 kilometers. 10,000 Leagues is 55,000 kilometers. The Earth is less than 13 thousand kilometers is diameter. This monster is from so deep in the ocean it was in high orbit on the other side of the planet.

Quaker cereal Comic character Quake tunneled so far underground he ended up on another planet in a story so guess there is supposed to be some kind of space warp down there.
Maybe they measured distance of bowling league's alley.

The creature in this film is pretty much the same one in a movie done several years later called Horror at Party Beach. In that film, it several of them.

The rowboat in the scenes @17:00, @45:00, @72:00 and @1:17:00 is the same boat used by the fisherman in the opening scene. I'm beginning to think the creature had a problem with *that* boat. Either that--or the producers of the film were working within an extremely limited budget.

The picture was such good quality. I never remember B movies being this clear when I would have watched in the 70s. Our TVs must have sucked.
I'm confused what was the point of the sea monster? was made by that doctor and the light was keeping it alive?

I like the creature in this movie . It's cross between a saber toothed tiger and a dinosaur . It's a saber tooth asaurus 😄
It’s actually played by Norma Hansen, one of the two only woman to play a monster in film back then, the other being Phyllis Gordon in The Werewolf from 1915

Poor Cathy Downs. She acted in some classic pictures which included Gunfight At The OK Coral directed by John Ford. Sad to actors willing to do these types of movies. Nice clean copy though.

LOL. you get what you paid for in the first 3 mins ! A rubber monster scaring a fisherman to death .... followed up by a man wearing a suit and tie on the beach who describes himself as a beachcomber ... first lines .. The body is covered with burns, the boat is chard too, but there's no sign of a fire !!!!! Great stuff

Since a league is about 3 miles, 'The Phantom from 10,000 Leagues' would have to come from the Mariana Trench, since no other trench comes close to that depth. They could'a called this "The monster from Mariana"? (doesn't have quite the same impact, eh?)
Having used spearguns extensively I can tell you that its range is really quite Limited

Nice quality in video. But movie...beginning wasn't as much scary, but silly. Fisherman who apparently doesn't know how to cast or deploy a net...and a monster who can't drown anyone.
Then on beach, 'stiff from burns', he never said radiation burns? Boat wasn't burned either. Geeze, anyone actually reading the script or noticing the props?

The ads they show are so annoying . I am in my sixties and they show these ads on these older shows for 20 year olds. TH-cam needs an ad director because the ads are not audience targeted at all .

The monster isn’t very realistic the rest of it looks okay
I love these old sci-fi movies. The f'ed up science doesn't bother me, but I can't abide that egregious abuse of the word "league". Ugh!
