    Each decade has its own style in horror movies. I think Vincent Price was the king of the horror in the 50' as much as Bela Lugosi of the 30'.

    One of the Best of 50 s horror Vincent Price helped make it so a very enjoyable 1 hr and 18 min. So much better than today's so called horror movies that are nothing but a gore fest And profanity so Many making horror movies The last several years you can build up horror and suspense without All the gore it's called having a Great cast of very competent actors And actresses And good scripts

      @@tommymarco I used to scar my brain with extreme horror movies like _'A Serbian Film'_ and _'Human Centipede'_ and _'Martyrs'_ and _'Cannibal Holocaust'_ and _'Salo: 120 Days of Sodom'_ etc. Now I prefer classic 50/60s gothic movies with actors like Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price or Boris Karloff. I'm less unhappy as a result.

      Love him or loathe him, he's as camp as a row of tents. Definitely not a criticism. In fact, I doubt that VP would get a look in these days. It took real acting chops, whether
      camp or otherwise, to be able to convey what many of these actors do in such movies. Bearing in mind the material they're working with.

    Every October I find myself watching this fun macabre treat again. Love Vincent and Carol Ohmart together, love the shocks and surprises, and the music by Von Dexter. Oh, and of course that jump-scare with the old crone, that's fantastic. HOHH has something of a film noir vibe to it in some ways.

    50’s B pic which doesn’t take itself too seriously, see skeleton in the credits and you will see what I mean, and the film is much improved by the presence of Vincent Price. It’s not my favourite William Castle film but has some good moments. I particularly enjoyed the delivery in a hearse as really sets the mood early doors.

      redshiftexperiment maybe I am confused, I thought it was agreed between Spade and Gutmann that Wilmer would be the « fall guy ». Did that just mean prison?

    • @redshiftexperiment
      @redshiftexperiment 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@benoitpellet1657 yes it was agreed that Wilmer would be the fall guy. This meant that Spade needed someone that the police could pin all the murders on. Spade mentioned to Gutman that if he didnt have someone to give to the cops then he would be in danger of being arrested for Thursby's murder and possibly the others. So yeah it was all about handing someone over to the cops. That being said, it didnt matter anyway because Wilmer ran off before the end of the movie. So we dont really know what ended up happening to him at all. (Although based on a phone conversation Spade had with the cops near the very end, it could be assumed that he was caught, but it's not definite.) I dont know if the Wilmer character was killed or even existed in the Dashiell Hammett novel, but that's how it played out in the movie anyway. Sorry for the long response.. LOL .. that's one of my favorite movies. :)

    Toward the end of the movie (around 1:10:22 to 1:10:38) when the skeleton emerges from the acid and stalks Carol Ohmart, I thought it was strange that she had almost a faint seductive smile on her face in a couple of shots.
