I thought something was different when I tried it at Sephora after awhile of not using it… 😮 they did what Bite beauty did with their lip sleeping mask.
They're slowly transitioning from the new formula I think. With the rerelease of their holiday bdcs in the original formula and the rating going way down after 2% of people liked it, they actually might start changing it. Thank god I still have my cherry and hot chocolate in original as well as the cookie butter one.
I am legit shocked that Chapstick got the highest. When I was a kid, this was great. But the past decade, I've tried several versions and they horribly dry my lips out now. To the point it feels as if it makes my lips even drier than they normally would be and even burns (depending which formulation I go with).
I also use the Laneige sleeping mask overnight and when I wake up and love it! For day time use, I’ve been using Jack Black for years which also has spf!

Greetings from Melbourne! I can’t agree more on Lucas’ Papaw, that’s been my go-to for years. I also have the Mecca one with SPF, but haven’t used it that much because Lucas on its own has done the job 😂
I almost never actually get chapped lips, despite living in a verrrrry dry, windy climate. Aquaphor with spf is my lifesaver for our long winters (use on cheeks, nose, etc), Revlon kiss tinted spf balms are my every day go-to, and I have an obsession with Sierra bees balms when I'm indoors. Lol but laneige just disappears on my lips within 10 minutes... lucky for my budget that my faves are CHEAP. If you can find the Chapstick tinted balms, they are actually shimmery light lipsticks with spf, and are fabulous for when you want a more lipstick-forward look with spf and occlusives.
As a woman who will turn 60 this Summer, I just found that Neutrogena makes a lip mask in a tube & I’m liking that one at night. That is sold at Walmart. During the day, it’s my old standby, The Naked Bee Orange Blossom Honey Lip Balm, that I buy at Ace Hardware. The Naked Bee also has their own website with a whole line of products. The balm is also scent free.
I have actually never tried the Laneige, so I bought the choco flavour one. I used the Klavuu lip mask which was compared to it as a cheaper alternative but without the fragrance, but my current favourite is the Fenty plush puddin as it does not have you dipping your finger in, which I hate doing and am less likely to use if a product is like that, and also the Meltykiss Matcha flavour lip balm, although that its very light for during the day rather than as a mask
Laneige used to be really good, but I have had to re-apply it so often and I think it actually made my lips more dry. Also have tried aquaphor, bioderma, chapstick, burts bees and a bunch of other general ones. Most recently discovered lucas papaw ointment and it is amazing. It's the one lip balm I found that actually moisturizes my dry lips and I maybe reapply once or twice if I'm really eating/drinking a lot. Best so far I have found to really keep those dry lips moisturized.
I'm not surprised the Chapstick lipbalm is great. I only ever have lip balms in that format, with just a splurge of having an oil if I want my lips to be extra nourished, strong and plump.
The original balmdot com balm was the best ever!!!! Soooo upset they changed it and now I feel it is not moisturizing and does not last long at all on my dry lips!!! Sooo bummed when I did a haul to repurchase all my favs that were going out of date earlier this year and only realized when they came that it was a different formula!!! I knew the lid was different but not that the formula had changed. So sad and upsetting! This type of video is the best to see lip swatches and do wear test with ratings!!! 💗🥰Thank you sooo much!!! My dry lips always need a good balm and I am always on the hunt now that the glossier formula changed!!
As a person who played the trombone and used my lips as part of the instrument, I gotta say that the best ones are the non-boujee ones😂 I always used lipsticks from the Mentholatum brand. Also a little tip for when using the lipstick: try using it vertically not horizontally, because that's how the wrinkles on your lips are made!!!
Reaaally love the Laneige, it's my summertime lip balm for the night. In the winter I use Nuxe rêve de miel cause my lips get really dry otherwise. During the day I use Weleda lip skin food or the Fresh Sugar lip balms ❤

I decided to venture out recently and tried the tatcha kissu lip mask and it just doesnt perform as well as laneige

I’m happy to hear that I am not the only one who felt like Laneige no longer works. Victoria’s Secret balm is good but I have to re-apply often. I love Fenty’s cherry gloss and their tube lip balm right now. Fenty cherry gloss is definitely more moisturizing than Glossier. If you have really bad chapped lips, keep it simple with the multi use aqua phone healing ointment.
I like my drugstore brands... Aquaphor lip repair stick is my all time favorite. It is available in a squeeze tube as well but I have never tried the tube, also has a spf 30 formulation available. I also really enjoy the Vaseline lip therapy in the little pots. It looks like it would be similar to the Laneige in consistency. I would be interested in a side by side of the two. I've never tried the Laneige mask but all the hype surrounding it is hard to ignore. Great video 😊
Giving glossier's moisture level a 3.5 is GENEROUS. Also, if you hate getting lip product all over your hands I might recommend laneige's lip balm tube, they sell them in the same scents minus the mess, but the formula is for daytime wear, so they're slightly less expensive the nighttime mask.
Chapstick’s been with me forever. I’ve tried others lip products & I always come bck to it. One at work, one in the car & one in my purse. I luv chapsticks. Will only use the strawberry & cherry chapstick, it gives my lips a pinky tint to it.

My go to lip balm for years now has been Lanolips. The original DHC lip cream is the only stick lip balm that delivers on long lasting moisture like Lanolips does. The old Balm Dotcom formula was the next best thing in my opinion. Texture was different from Lanolips but the results were similar. Glossier also had the advantage in flavors/scents (if that was your thing). The biggest criticism for Lanolips I have seen is mostly about their flavors/scents being very minimal and not lingering (a plus for me because I don't love overpowering scents).
I have chronic dry bloody peeling lips. Tried everything. My life changed when I discovered Dior lip maximizer serum intense hyaluronic lip care. It is offensively expensive. But it is the only product in my 30 years that hydrates my lips.
I just use 100% petroleum jelly for my lips. Including areas of my face and any dry scalp. I use two separate containers. One is for my lips and face and the other is for my body and scalp.

My favorite lip product is Bite Agava Lip Balm, but sadly the company went out of business and I have tried at least 20 lip balms and nothing matches the staying power with a light sticky feel that I love, it stays on great and is in the tube form and not messy at all. Can you help find a replacement

Try Jouer cosmetics lip enhancer lip balm. I am from Canada and I have tried all the expensive lip balms and this is the one that keep my lips moisturized without flaring up acne around my lips.
I cannot use the overnight mask. It makes my lips extremely cracked and flaky. I don’t know why. I have tried it at various points over the last few years.
Honestly though my favorite lip product that works above all lip products has been the sioris more than lip balm that was recommended on this channel. NOTHING has worked as well as this one. I’m on my 8th stick!
Have you tried the Real Barrier extreme lip repair balm? It's fantastic. I also love Malin & Goetz lip balm. Blue Lagoon Iceland lip balm and LA Bruket lip balm at the moment.

I've tried about 5? Brands of chapsticks throughout my life. Carmex is a big no for me, it instantly feels like it's burning my lips after applying. EOS is no more, that was my go to back in middle and high school. Aquaphor, hmmm I think I'll use this for night time instead cause I always wake up to very dry chapped lips. Chapstick is what I really like too, just always can't seem to find it whenever I'm at Walmart, I used to get like a pack of those from Five Below cause it's cheaper but they don't have it in stock according to the website. Burt's Bees is what I just got again now cause it's always available in Walmart, just unnecessarily overpriced.
Chapstick doesn't work for me at all, but I have dehydrated, flake prone lips that get painful. Laneige is the only thing that eases it, I've tried other things including the bite agave. So I guess for different needs the ratings would be very different
Chap Stick is still my favorite after trying most of these. I love the mint and the cotton candy flavors. I have the Glossier Birthday Balm Dot Com but hate that I can feel the glitter in it.
tbh i really dislike all of glossiers products except the perfume. I disliked the previous balms too, i woke up every morning with dry lips like you did and i lived in humidity.

My fav is and remains Milk overnight melatonin lip mask but the laneige lip mask is definitely a close second. Loved seeing some comparable options!

Try the NCLA lip scrub and lip balm, they also recently came out with a lip sleeping mask. I found the lip balm very moisturizing.

Tried to like Vegan Kombucha Tea Lip Balm but 🤷♀️ Rohto Mentholatum Water Lip Balm with SPF works way better for me plus it’s cheaper.
Glossier unfragnanced universal salve was one of the beat lip balms i used i think. I am glad that it is vegan now, or I wouldn't have chosen it

tbh i really dislike all of glossiers products except the perfume. I disliked the previous balms too, i woke up every morning with dry lips like you did and i lived in humidity.
Would you be able to test out the difference burt's bees chapsticks? I feel like the different ones apply differently. Like the peppermint is really thick

I’m surprised that chapsticks worked for you. I remember those things made my lips 10 times worse after use. Like I’d put them on for fun when I had moisturized lips and then the next day my lips would start peeling.
