Step-by-Step in the TSA Line (Beginner Tips)

  • I will teach you how to go through the airport security line step by step. The TSA made changes that start mid-June of 2020. These updates to airport security are for you travelers who have not been in an airport in a long time or if you learn better by seeing a visual. I will show you what to pull out of your bags based one the updated Transportation Security Administration x-ray screening procedures. The TSA wants to prevent cross-contamination because of the coronavirus information. But now the TSA may send you out of the line to repack your food, liquids or accessories and get back in line. I will show you how to correctly walk through airport security screening. You will learn what to put in the gray bin so that you do not have to get out of line.I will use my hope chest furniture as the airport security x-ray screening belt. #firstflight #firsttimeinaplane #firsttimeflying #airportsecurity

    I'm more scared of going through or getting lost in an airport then sitting on a plane knowing I'm thousands and thousands of feet off the ground :(

    • @TravelTipsbyLaurie
      @TravelTipsbyLaurie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      You've come to the right place then. I recommend downloading the airport app as well as your airline app. When you buy your ticket, save that email. It will have the confirmation number on it. Look at which terminal your airplane is flying out of when you check in for your flight 24 hours before the flight. Then you can look at the airport map to see which gate number the plane will be. Have a wonderful vacation!

    Love you videos. I've been watching a lot of them recently to see if there are any tips I can give a friend of mine who is flying alone for the first time about a month from now, but have noticed something in several videos that I wanted to clarify: the benches are "inside" or "past" security, not "outside" it. I don't mean to sound like a stickler, but for those who haven't flown before or not in a long time, it makes a difference how the location is described. Again, really love your videos and will be sharing some choice ones with some people I know who tend to not prepare well for flying.

    Last security I went through was Dublin in 2019 and the folks had to look in my luggage. The two security people were amazed by how well organized everything was and how much was in my main carry-on bag. The did say they wished everyone was that organized. Truth be told, It was set up so I had room in my backpack to pick up some Irish whiskey in duty free and since I knew I would not have to go through security when I changed planes in Amsterdam, where I got some Dutch cheese

    Love watching your videos. Whenever we take a 10 day vacation, we take enough clothes for 5 days plus the outfit we wear. Then on the fifth day I do laundry and we have enough clothes til we are home. Doesn't take that long for a couple loads of laundry. That's how I pack a carryon for 10 days.

    Hi Laurie! When I went through TSA line with my Global Entry (paid $100, had interview) Pre-check but didn’t work because my Global Entry card number was not on my ticket! I had to take off my shoes, etc. Fortunately, I followed your instructions! Thank you! I was ready and put what was needed in the gray bin. You made my trip from Portland to LAX to Qatar to Istanbul so much easier. One note: had to buy a $30 Visa again because Qatar Airlines took the bag my Visa printout was in!

    Great video. I don't travel much, but I do spend a lot of time in a security line. I hope people understand these are new to us and old habits are hard to break. Example for eight years I've taken the ID card and boarding pass, It's hard to just stop. The only thing I'd change is, place your shoes first by them self, they come out first and are ready to put on, a big issue if you are barefoot in an airport. Also if we do have to look in a bag you still get to put them on.

    We have a condo in Miami, and a home in Puerto Rico. We split are time between Miami and Puerto Rico. I am aware of TSA screening protocol. Three weeks ago, I went to Puerto Rico with a full-size canister of Lysol disinfecting wipes in my backpack. We’ll that sent TSA sensors into a fit. My backpack was searched and cross contaminated by the TSA agent. Now I know, I only need to travel with enough Lysol wipes to in a baggie to disinfect my seat on the plane, and the surfaces I will touch in the rental car. Thank you.

    • @TravelTipsbyLaurie
      @TravelTipsbyLaurie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm they now say you can bring the canister. But you probably need to put it in the bin to be screened. Thanks for watching and enjoy those red beans and rice!! Angel Cafe is our fave restaurant!

      My main tip is to get there 2 hours before boarding not departure. If you do not feel like you're in a hurry, you will feel less stressed. Have the liquids bag and shoes ready to put on the conveyor belt, and you're good!

    It took me 5 minutes to check in, get through security, and sit at my gate at BHM on 01 June 2020. I shipped my luggage to my doorstep using Lugless. Thank you so much for the updated information. I love the box demonstration; so adorable. I really need to update my expired TSA pre check to global entry as soon as I replace my stolen passport.
