  • This is Sarah Brightman’s iconic performance of Nessun Dorma live. If you’ve never listened to opera music, you just have to give this one a listen. You won’t be disappointed.
Welcome to my “Modern Life for the 70's Mind” TH-cam Channel. On this channel, I not only take a look at the songs and history that made us who we are today, but also introduce you to today's modern music as well. Any songs that combine the two are always a winner. I've always loved music and have always tried to keep a balance between the classic music I fell in love with and today's MUCH DIFFERENT sounds. Here's we'll analyze both. We’ll even take some time and revisit some of the old parts of our past that have disappeared from today’s shelves and most people’s memories, I call it Bob's Cabinet of Curiosity. Let’s relive those moments together! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of your day to check in. I appreciate it more than I can say here.

I was at this live performance and can tell you that by the time she finished the song, the audience had been laser melted (except for their ears). Vincera means "I will win".
Not only that, during this whole concert, most of the songs had her dangling from wires, spinning, swinging like a child from a tree. One had her in a garment that allowed her to do acrobatics WHILE SINGING. Absolutely unbelievable!

EXTRAORDINARY. The voice of this woman has not been sufficiently recognized.

I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. With the song " El perdón " She is a very versatile singer singing different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas. She always transmits when she sings. Best regards and I hope you enjoy

I'll give a little hint on why the Princess got his name wrong.
There was a woman in the township who had loved him for a long time, knew his name but would not betray him. She wanted him to be happy with what HE wanted. So, as the battalions were threatening and beating on her to get the name, she fell on a sword to keep from spewing it because of the pain, stating that his name was "love" before she died.
That is why the Princess thought his name was "love".
    Goes deep.

It is sung by Calaf, il principe ignoto (the unknown prince), who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. Any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded. In the aria, Calaf expresses his triumphant assurance that he will win the princess.
Context: In the act before this aria, Calaf has correctly answered the three riddles put to all of Princess Turandot's prospective suitors. Nonetheless, she recoils at the thought of marriage to him. Calaf offers her another chance by challenging her to guess his name by dawn. As he kneels before her, the "Nessun dorma" theme makes a first appearance, to his words, "Il mio nome non sai!" (My name you do not know!). She can execute him if she correctly guesses his name; but if she does not, she must marry him. The cruel and emotionally cold princess then decrees that none of her subjects shall sleep that night until his name is discovered. If they fail, all will be killed.

Thank you for breaking down music videos, it`s rare to find reaction`s that are adding value to the original music video, really enjoy it.
As you liked Aurora in past, i thought i should recommend Rosalia. She is in some of her songs like the spanish/latin equivalent of Aurora, imo. At least i sense similarites in their voice, that sensitivity.... hard to explain. She is imo one of the most talented singer with a very high level and consistent liver performance and she really likes to combine cultures! Like Aurora she`s very expressive, the emotions are so present!
I was never into latin music, only 3 years ago i discovered her music and it`s a new world. Latin music has often this leading beats that sound similar at first, but after a while you notice that they are indeed very different. This beats sometimes seem to be positive and the lyrics behind it are very dark. Which really works well... Latin music is culturally so rich and maybe you want to explore it more!
Rosalia releases on Friday her new Album "Motomami" where you can expect experimental combinations of classic latin/spanish flamenco/indie/arabic/reggaeton/trap....
Meanwhile if you like - Aunque es de noche

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind To give you some context on this song - as far as i interprete it, i am not a native speaker...
its basically an allegory that pictures a spring, its water that gives life and being around us at all times, even if it sometimes hardly can be seen (Aunque es de noche=Even though it is by night) - so its the allegory that even in hard times the spring of life is still around us, even if it is hard to grasp sometimes. Thank you! 💙

Bi Bob, thank you for the background information on the song. I've known it from various singers for decades, but I've actually never looked for the translation of the lyrics or the story behind them. You finally closed the gap.
Yes, live in concert is always better. Even if today's headphones are really good. I have the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro with 32 ohms. You have the same or a very similar model. I've heard a lot of details since then.
Sarah Brightman is a very well known and respected artist.
I love to hear young artists who are still developing. I recommend you give Laura Bretan a listen. She comes from Romania and is a soprano. She will be 20 years old in April. She won Romania's got talent in 2016 and performed on America's got talent the same year when she was 14.
The first link is her first appearance at AGT 2016.
The second link I think is from the finale where she sings Nessun Dorma again. But this time accompanied by the three tenors who call themselves Il Volo.

Since you are a fan of classical music, I have a couple recommendations for you.
I previously recommended Ghost Love Score by Nightwish with current lead singer Floor Jansen. I think you should try that first. th-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/w-d-xo.html
After that, another symphonic metal band, Epica, did a version of Stabat Mater Dolorosa with their lead singer Simone Simons and Floor. th-cam.com/video/nhtOORYTGx8/w-d-xo.html
Also Nightwish , with original lead singer Tarja Turunen, did a version of Phantom of the Opera. A version that Andrew Lloyd Weber loved. th-cam.com/video/tL25rbnvM4o/w-d-xo.html

Sarah is one of the best but I just want to tell you that you did not had to leave Norway. You have reacted to Aurora and Angelina two of the new vocal princesses of Norway. The vocal queen of Norway for the last 3 decades is Sissel Kyrkjebø ( known as Sissel, guess why. ). Sissel is one of the worlds best crossover sopranos if not the best. Many says when they hear Sarah she is the best but when they hear Sissel she is the best. Reality is that they are just to good to be compared to anybody else. If you want to listen to Sissel singing opera try this one "Sissel - O Mio Babbino Caro" th-cam.com/video/A1YKBrUqwIU/w-d-xo.html
My favorit is not an opera but her performance with the Tabernacle Choir that got an endless standing ovation " Slow Down - Sissel (2019 Pioneer Concert with The Tabernacle Choir) " th-cam.com/video/EFe84U__kt8/w-d-xo.html

Sarah has a beautiful voice, but Nessum Dorma always sounds better sung by men, just my opinion, my favourite version is by Il Volo. There's a video of them singing along side the Three Tenors, someone very cleverly matched two videos together. Placid Domingo sings as one of the Tenors and in the Il Volo video is conducting the orchestra x
