    Very helpful one. But will it be better that one should keep in mind about the privacy policies of previous employer while we share the info about the projects?

    • @BEngHielscher
      @BEngHielscher  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that’s definitely something that you should keep in mind but for most structural engineering projects it’s very unlikely that it’ll be a problem if you showcase your past work. I know in certain tech companies this is a big deal and employees are often made to sign a NDA but in the civil engineering related disciplines you are unlikely to ever be in this situation. And if by some chance you are required to keep things private on a project I guess you will need to exclude that work from your portfolio. Good point, thanks for sharing this :)

    Hey, I really liked your video. Its so informative. I would like to ask what software are you usually using in your Structural Engineering Projects?

    • @BEngHielscher
      @BEngHielscher  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on what I need to design. For steel structures I typically use spacegass. For concrete structures I use strand7 or ram concept. Besides these I have used others like tekla tedds and structural toolkit.

    Nicely done, im a project engineer (mechanical bias) from the uk and im thinking of creating a portfolio. I have many projects under my belt, do you think its best to create a one page summary for each project at the end of each project as a project closeout deliverable meaning youl have a constant updated flow of work feeding into your porfolio?

    • @BEngHielscher
      @BEngHielscher  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely do this! This will easily allow you to pick and choose which projects you want to include so you can tailor your portfolio for different job applications.

    Hello. I'm planning to do some personal projects. I want to know are most projects done in the software, or can you also do some projects that don't require the use of software.

    • @BEngHielscher

      There are many projects that can be done through hand calcs: steel portal frame design, retaining wall analysis and design, RC slab design, RC pad footing etc. you can literally choose anything :)

    How do i work on a portfolio if i have no projects to show since im on my first year.

    • @BEngHielscher
      @BEngHielscher  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Even in your first year of uni you have to complete multiple group projects and assignments. These are projects you could showcase. If you don’t particularly like these projects/assignments you could make up your own projects. Given that you have only completed first year these projects could be things like analysing a truss or solving bending moment and shear force diagrams under various loads. Try and get creative with this. You have many options :)
