The time has finally come to part ways with the decals of our Ambulance Camper Van! After doing a bunch of research, I narrowed it down to 3 different ways to remove these 20+ year old decals. In this video, we test out each technique, and some of them did not turn out like we'd hoped! Check out the video to see which ones worked, and which ones failed miserably!

When I did my truck I used the heat gun then followed up with polish and a cheap buffer from Princess Auto ( Harbor Freight in the US). Worked perfectly.
Thx for the tips!
Comparing the two surfaces prior to application of stickers: the shipping container has a rough surface and likely a bit of oxidation to the paint. The ambulance on the other hand has a very smooth surface and it was likely prepped by cleaning the surface. That is why there is a lot of difference between the two.
Thanks for the info! :)
Great job! Hopefully you both are doing well! Thank you for imparting knowledge!
Thank you! :)
A professional paint shop can fix the damage to the clear coat or you can use 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and work your way up through the grits. Nothing can fix the damage to your immune system. What is more important?
To remove the glue - isopropylalcohol (IPA) works the best
It is also very good when you want to clean a surface before putting sticker on it. I also found it very useful when cleaning windows - using a mixture of 1-2 drops of liquid dishwashing soap, half cup of isopropyl alcohol with water in a spray bottle. It will remove dirt and keep windows really clean for longer. But you need one wet cloth and one dry cloth to do the cleaning of the windows. Just spray and use wet cloth first to rub off dirt and then dry cloth. It’s been my method to clean both eye glasses (real glass - not plastic) as well. I use Zalo dishwashing soap found in Norway, but I guess you can use other dishwashing soap as well as long as they are liquid. Try it and I promise you will be surprised how effective it is. I ditched glass cleaner products and use this instead.
Thx for the tips!!
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
Thank you so much! :)
To remove the adhesive use brake clean on a rag . Get the adhesive wet use a razor blade lightly to scrape it off. Spray on more brake clean and wipe it off.
Thx for the tips!!
A lot of hard work removing those decals!
Definitely!!
Big job
Thank you!
I started with pressure washer then stripe eraser then found using plastic razorblades was the best, and then i just left mine on the walls. People comment on them all the time.
Thx for the tips!!
hola recomiendo gasolina y un trapo limpio y cambiar cada vez que se llene de pega
I use another tape like gorilla tape to remove adhesive left from peeling of other stickers and decals, the tape pulls off the adhesive just stick and peel, stick and peel etc….
Thx for the tips! :)
Need a sharper metal edge on the Paint Scraper !
Thx for the tips!
One more comment Great - Stuff Gun Cleaner (Acetone) and a white 3M type scrubbing pad to clear away the adhesive. Or you could use alcohol, maybe some very expensive Vodka.
I would use hot water in the pressure washer. Use a steam cleaner instead of a heat gun. Acetone to remove glue residue. then you probably need to polish to get it shiny and nice again.
Thanks for the tips!
Acetone will remove clearcoat and paint!
Try Weimarn Glass Cook Top cleaner, it comes with a straight edge blade. I’ve gotten it to work on some stickers.
Thx for the tips!
Maybe try gas or diesel for the adhesive
Thx for the tips!
Try a. Micro light rubbing compound That body shop use for removing the glue after you get that taken care of Used some car polish that should bring all the color back to match Direct to your vehicle
Thx for the tips!
Big pressure washer, hot water & rotary tip works for us, we strip many this way. The paint has to be good, or it will take the paint also.
Thx for the tips!!
Use pressure washer at 45 degree angle instead of straight on
Thx for the tips! :)
I like it❤👍👍👍
Thank you!!! :)
I used about 20 of the wheels, there were a couple brands on the A store and one worked better than the other. The Whizzy Wheel brand worked better for me. There is a certain method that works best. High speed, correct angle flipping the decal up and off the paint. It was days and days of work. I wish I would have rented a power washer now having seen your video. Where were you 2 years ago???
Lol we did the same thing before we figured out the pressure washer technique. I guess it's a right of passage lol
For the glue starter fluid and a flat razor
Thx for the tips!
I would recommend the heat gun and removing glue with petrol after it has cooled.
Thx for the tips!
Have a wrap put onto the area's that you're trying to remove lettering and glue from ? ? ?
Maybe we will do that :)
Are there decals on the roof too, or did you get lucky and not have any?
There are some but we will tackle that another day
Well I have now found something better than watching paint dry - guess what!!!!😊
Thank you so much!!
Think WD-40 would help get the decals off and also the glue
Thx for the tips!
Try Acetone
Thx for the tips!
Is there a logo on the roof of it
Yes there are some decals up there but we will tackle that another time
Always read the SDS or Safety Data Sheets. If you don't know what the chemical is, look up the chemical. Always follow the Personal Protection Recommendations. Be especially careful if you are a woman of child bearing age.
Just put a new paint on ... eirher one or two coats/layers , that's all .
Thx for the tips!
✌💗💗🤗
Thank you! :)
I have removed the fake woodgrain on cars You just need to hold the gun on it longer
Thx for the tip!
Cut wax
Thx for the tips!
hot air gun and then gasoline.
Thx for the tips!
see if you cab find = glue be gone = best stuff ever
That's what I used in the orange spray bottle
I would avoid most chemicals, especially those made from Benzene or ones that contain Methylene Chloride (this has finally banned in the US). If you do choose a Benzene derivative, wear a half face mask with carbon filters. Change the filters daily. Abrasive methods create microparticles that can enter your blood stream through your lungs. I ruined my health working with chemicals. and yes, I know a lot about this.
Thanks so much for all the tips! Much appreciated
goo gone sorry
