My uncle was a soldier in the British army in Palestine between 1943-46. His observations were that the original Jewish and Muslim inhabitants of Palestine basically got along together pretty well, not perfect but they basically cooperated in most everyday situations, but when the settlers arrived from Europe it was open season on colonialism and violence against Arabs. Britain holds responsibility for a lot of the terrible things that happened there, but the view of an ordinary soldier with no great political viewpoint is hopefully of interest.
