A good trimmer operator will make sure it's jogged to the back gauge every time, not every other time. Plus they will hold the paper in place until the clamp has a hold of it.

If the table air is off and you are step cutting, especially business cards younare wrong.

I always do that. I even pinched my thumb with the clamp once. I did run a Polar Moher, it was automated, but not that fancy with removing the waste trimmings. After a 12 hour shift of endless skids😢 my left arm would be pumped and sore af, but the guillotine would always be my favorite Bindery Machine of them all❤

Iam an old school printer, and this equipment is absolutly useless. Iam sure the equipment is expensive. Thermotype C0. is a better company for business cards and the equipment is less expensive.

They can do better but only upon a custom made request. Previous company I worked for had a system designed where you made only single cuts leaving a minimum 2mm trim all round each card at 94x59mm. Once cut, a number of rows where placed on a "transfer" table which would then take each single stack of cards and feed them through a die cutter with interchangeable dies of varying sizes. Huge time saver and eliminates the need for back trimming.

@Frank Stein Yup, it's all about making it easier for the "overworked" operator and less about production. I'm wondering why it couldn't have been dead cut without the gutters? Would have to see the printing on the other side to determine this but I wouldn't be surprised if the gutters were not really necessary.
