Question: Bullet velocity changes with the environmental condition changing. Say I chrono my velocity at 2700 fps, then I found that I need to add extra 50 fps on my Kestrel in order to match my DOPE. Then 6 month later, do I need to true it again? i.e. should I chrono my new velocity then add extra 50 to the measured velocity or I should re-do the entire process?
If you are using a Kestrel, it has a density altitude function that will automatically adjust your data based on changing environmental conditions. However, once you get used to using a kestrel, you can make periodic adjustments based on changes in your powder lot, projectile lot, barrel speed changes, that can all effect your Dope. It sounds more complicated than it is. What you are seeing down range will dictate when changes need to be made. If you are using a ballistic ap, most have an environmental function that you can either pickup local weather station data or you can manually input DA (Density Altitude) from someone around you that has a Kestrel. Does this make sense?
How do you know this is a velocity issue and not a BC issue? If you have a quality chronograph, wouldn't it make more sense that the BC is factor that is slightly off?

You need to true every time you change lots of bullets, powder, or cases.

Ive heard people say if its 800yards and under, adjust fps. 800 and above adjust bc... but great question
