I was iffy on whether to watch this one. Directors in the past have had differing viewpoints than mine and made films I love because they were subtle in their delivery. This gets lost in a lot of ways in today's films. I don't need to be preached at. This film did not do that, and because of it, it was one of the best films of the year. The fact that is was directed by someone who was LGTBQ and was about two women who fell in love really was only something I thought about before I put the film on. Once I started watching it I was mesmerized. It was filmed by a a very talented director, it has amazing cinematography, and it's a beautiful love story. That subtlety made it a joy to watch because in the end it was a film about love between two "humans", something that all genders and races and sexualities can connect with.
lol how is being in love a different viewpoint? i feel you on the preaching though, but those films are easy to avoid as they're almost always directed by some trash Hollywood studio looking for social brownie points
殇逝 When I was referring to directors in the past having a different viewpoint I was talking about movies that were made quite a while ago. Some of the directors had communist views, some slightly fascist. But I learned about their views on certain topics from Wikipedia, not from their movies trying to cram it in my face. I was prefacing my comment about how this movie harkens back to that tradition.
Yeah the crazy thing about this movie is after watching it I didn’t even think about the fact that it was an LGBTQ+ movie. Like I sort of didn’t even realise that. It’s my favourite movie of all time.
Please invite Céline to closet pick!!!

Genius director
Awesome film. So well directed and acted. Wish there'd be a sequel where they meet again. Mariann had hope, so I do too 😊
This is mind blowing, 👼

@ChowDownDetroit I totally agree. It's the most thought provoking film I've ever seen. I didn't want it to end. So beautiful.
