As a blk american, i will say everything he’s saying is true 😂 we treat everyone at our cookouts like they’re family. I will say his video is not offensive in my opinion.

I would just like to add that having learned how to play spades in county jail, a spades game at a black cookout is NOT your ordinary game of cards lol!!! Like he said it is HIGH STAKES and if you throwing a spade out that card better spin on the table like a buzz saw lol!!

@6:31 I learned how to play spades at age 8 but couldn't "play" til I was 10... "Play" is sitting at the table in a real game with adults. In my family we don't play/let you win just because your a kid if we playing a real game. Now I was never in a money game but have heard stories where people walked away limping and a forehead knot to match. Same with domino and abd dice but I never learned dice because on of my friends brother was playing a "penny" game and well he was in icu for about 3 months and they even had to do surgery to get the dice and some of his broken teeth removed from his stomach... I was 10 when that happened and I'm 39 now.

As a 49 year old white Georgia man, I can confirm.
If a black buddy invites you, you go! Yes, it will be amazing food and great fellowship.
Also, the eldest ladies of the family will give you some of the best hugs and kisses you ever got! ❤🙂

A "wife beater" or "beater" shirt is basically a sleveless tank undershirt. I think you call them vests or singlets in the UK. The "wife beater" name came about because stereotypically in movies, the wife beating husband would be wearing one.

Hey James and Millie! Zack Rushing who is the strong Southern accent from South Mississippi is a inspirational speaker. He is a 4 time cancer survivor as well! He is HILARIOUS and his FirstBlack Cookout Story and his part two story of "Momma T's Fish Fry" are so funny and he is well respected now in the American Black Community because so many Black people have reacted to these two stories. You should react to his part 2 story now which is the Momma T's Fish Fry story!! HAHA Enjoy!

I can give an example of this as a blk American. I had just moved into a house with a new roommate. She was a close friend and it was the 4th of July. So, since we had just moved in, food options weren't plentiful. I knew my family was going to have a BBQ, so i invited her to come along. She tried to decline, but i convinced her. Once she got there, everyone treated her like she had been there every year. She couldn't believe how much food was being served(especially since there were only 10 of us initially). Then, when we left, we each had to go plates that weighed 5 lbs each.

Fix is a common word that has many uses in the South. For example,
    "I need to fix breakfast."
"Your hair is a mess, go fix it."
"If you have time, can you fix that broken window?"
Also "Fix" can mean about to.
"I'm fixing to go to work."
I'm fixing to lose my temper with you."
You can also use fixing as add-ons."
Hamburgers and all the fixings. (Lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, mustard)

This is so true. I once lived in an apartment complex where I was the only white guy. Everyone else was black. At first I was nervous, but my downstairs neighbor was an older Jamaican lady. She was nice, so I ended up getting to know her. Helped her fix things in her place, watched her dog, etc. She would fix me a plate of food almost every night. And the rest of the neighborhood liked me because she liked me. She was like the matriarch of the community. I miss her.

In American Southern dialects "Fix," is analogous to "To do." Like back in the Gluf Coast area "I'm fixin' to..." means I'm about to do blank. "Hey, y'all need anything, I'm fixin' to got the store." Or "To do the groceries," works too. So yo "Fix my plate," means "I'm going to go get myself 😂a bunch of that grub!" A lot of that is due to the French influence on the language patterns, even if the terms have drastically changed to entirely new cultural aphorisms.

Hi guys! I'm white and live in Fort Worth, Texas, which is home to some great barbecue, but all of my favorite places are small mom and pop restaurants owned by black folks. Robinson's on the south side has pork ribs that I like to dip in their sauce ( regular or hot), then stick it in my mouth, pull it out between my front teeth and come out with nothing but a clean bone and a mouthful of tender meat. MmmmMmm good!

Throwing Bones means “dominos” where i live…but ive heard it used to mean “Dice” too….and “wife Beaters” mean Undershirts that are Tank Tops (and that’s common knowledge for every state i believe)…It’s a reference to cliche movie wardrobes

"Bones" in this context is a colloquial reference to something that used to be traditionally made out of ivory. Of the three major contenders (piano keys, dominoes, and dice), he theoretically ought to have been able to figure out which one is customarily thrown; but the man had just awakened from a food coma in an unfamiliar place surrounded mostly by people he didn't know very well, so his failure to work it out at the time is understandable, especially given that he could always just follow along and see what it meant soon enough (as he did).
A "wife beater" in this context is a very specific type of white sleeveless undershirt, when worn alone, without a proper shirt over it. The garment acquired this name (which was originally highly derogatory, casting aspersions on the person wearing it, but has passed into more general usage in the last couple of decades) due to its stereotypical association with rural poverty.

He also made so stereotypical comments about black folk and referenced things you all wouldn’t get if you aren’t familiar with black culture or movies. That said, he is describing his experience of the cookout from his perspective and I am sure he was thinking everything he said. Anyway, if you ever get invited to a cookout, don’t be afraid and enjoy the experience. We are a pretty cool, fun and accepting people for the most part. Oh…and at some cookouts you’ll serve yourself 😀.

"Throwing Bones" is different depending where you are at. Here on the west coast. South Central, East L.A. Compton.. Throwing bones means playing Dominoes. But other parts of the U.S. it means throwing dice. But here for me and where I grew up. When the dominoes came out, someone would say.. Its time to throw bones.

I'm from Texas and thought he meant dominoes too. Love playing that.

Dominoes came from a game originally played with small human bones .

My first black cookout was when I was 5. It wasn't until I was 6. When I went to school is when I realized there were more white people, than just my family.

A wife beater isn't a vest. It's a type of shirt without arms, often worn underneath other clothes.
