Tower Heroes is probably my favourite, it has a style I like and I like how everything functions with maps giving you skins and heroes for defeating them.
I personally really like TB as I feel the wave pacing is handled more smoothly than in tds and the pvp feature keeps replayabilty in finding the best strategies to use and challenging yourself to beat different people instead of overcoming pre set waves that never change

I agree, other td become pretty boring after going up against a bot that spawns the same set of zombies, its nice to have a change with an actual person you're trying to win against
in tb the waves are stacked on top of each other which is a bit annoying but it makes the game a lot more fun it always keeps you on your toes
i personally say tb is an a tier as it has a much calmer and nicer community with tournaments hosted by the discords mods for for like the huntsman tower

Astd definetly has a very high skill gap between higher level players and lower level players and it's hard to curve into the right direction when you first play and i can see why it is quite off putting, but once you get the grip of things and start progressing it becomes fun and when with friends can lead to a better time and quicken the pace of your growth.
I mean when i started to enjoy the game i could not stop playing. Nowadays i dont play that much but im almost level 200 because of how much i played when i was enjoying the game.
He got unlucky and quit early also there is now x3 speed

Pixel gun is beginner friendly & simple, but as you get more and more towers and guns, the more complex it gets. It's a slow and steady start, and the difficulty curve is really well made!

You should try universal guardian.Even tough it does not have a lot of features and other things that most td games have, its still a fun game to grind and speedrun :D

my fav is definitely pixel gun td, the combine feature makes it a refreshed feeling after playing a average td game and the huge amount of strats makes it even better

What I don't like about almost all tower defense games ist how to buy skins, because often they are bought with the Same currency as the Towers are, that means that If I want a cool skin I need to give up the grind that I collected for a Tower that I wanted.
That puts me often in a Situation where I can't decide If I want the tower or the skin.

Tower blitz uses different currency to buy skins just from completing challenges. I like that feature

I'd say Tower Heroes is a pretty good TD game on Roblox, it just has its flaws of course. You do earn many skins from beating maps on difficulties and sometimes heroes, even though you may or may not have to use coins to get them later, and the style of the game overall is very cute too, it's just extremely grindy sometimes

gonna be honest, tower battles having versus with sending is the main reason i keep coming back to the game, i just really like how it works
and you cant just go all out with rushes either, then you'll be poor and your farms will be behind
Aether rush is also a good game.
Compared to other TD games where you just place down towers, in Aether rush you can literally move them around. Plus they also have the same two path upgrades TBZ has, just that there's 5 levels instead of 4.
The game is quite good, sadly it's not played that much before.

You should try World Tower Defense (Not World Defenders or Anime World Tower Defense) it's pretty unique where enemies can fight back being able to kill towers. The tower upgrading system is more different where you have to upgrade and then place instead of placing and then upgrading.

Critical Tower Defense has to be my most favourite one other than TDS, the music is really relaxing and towers are level locked so paying for coins don't benefit you that much. And I like how there's a +1 tower slot for solo attempts that can be unlocked.
Tower Blitz is unique with upgrade paths like btd5, but some paths just outclass the other, and I don't think I have to talk about the long matches and meh optimization. Which at least Oster acknowledges the long durations so he will plan to change it.
I agree, CTD, in my opinion, is pretty underrated. And considering it’s based off of Critical Strike, it’s pretty cool to see what they do with all of the classes. Hell, they even make them into bosses sometimes. (Destroyer, Phantom, etc.)

My personal favourite is Critical Tower Defense. Maps look good, bounty system gives good rewards, tower are fairly balanced and perk which changes mechanic of some towers.
One of the most balanced TD games on Roblox tbh, pretty underrated

tower heroes is a good one too, it lacks in areas but it has many creative towers and map ideas, pretty unique
If TDS didn't exist, my favorite is tower defense game would be SCP Tower Defense, I recommend it as it is fun, and u get badges for certain challenges! If you could play it or review it in a video that would be cool, it's kinda different/unique from other TD games as it has gadgets. like blood of the red lake that damages enemies and turns them into summons, or golden thaumaturgy, where it stuns enemies and when killed they turn into gold/money. It also has evolved towers like village duster, and soon site guard.

My favorite one is actually tower blitz, it needs some improvements on mobile (the platform where I play the majority of the time) but the game it’s extremely enjoyable and looks extremely good, and also the 2 paths mechanic makes the game really original, and I love that.
But I’m level 110 on TDS and it feels way easier to play on mobile, the experience is actually smooth and I love playing it. (since in TB sometimes towers don’t place, have a extreme delay when upgrading, and that stuff on mobile) And Tower Battles feels overall absolutely unpolished and unplayable on mobile- but in PC is enjoyable, even if the shop coins system is kind of weird and the matchmaking isn’t the best, it’s a good game and the og, PGTD Is a real good game too, the 2 path mechanic and that you can build your own towers makes the game real good, but it’s visuals aren’t that good and the game it’s still buggy since it’s a new release.
And the anime one…I have your same opinion, not beginner friendly, really confusing and unpolished-
Basically, I love tower blitz but I play TDS more often because of the really good mobile optimization

As someone who has a lot of progress on both tower blitz and TDS, In my opinion tower blitz is superior, especially with the new huge update comings decently soon. The towers and some of the new maps are just as high quality as TDS, the 2 paths although done by BTD already is really unique because this is one of, if not the only TD game to do it on roblox, plus it adds a lot of depth and greatly improves the overall experience! All of the event towers have stayed permanently so far which is really nice, the challenges are cool, the ranked up modifier basically completely changes expert mode, and all of this is going to be optimized, plus a bunch more content in the next update! Overall, I genuinely believe this is the best tower defense game on roblox, and will surpass TDS by a lot in the next update. 9.5/10

Ngl, when you get good at Tower Battles it becomes very very fun, especially when you grind for golden commando. I'd put it in A-S tier personally, but that might be because it was my favourite game when I was younger. Still a game I find fun though, and I still play Tower Battles Battlefront.

some other tower defense games that i havent really seen mentioned, with some brief descriptions (and player statuses)
Tower Heroes (Alive) - A cutesy styled tower defense game with unique settings for each different map, each with skins or towers you can get from beating them on specific difficulties. Also has a casual mode, which is the same format for every map.
Tower Galactia (Currently Dead) - A story-based tower defense game. Good designs, has a beastiary and also challenges/quests. Currently unfinished, has only two worlds, but is still a fun challenge.
Project Sentries: Reborn (Solo Only) - Made by the a dev team that has some devs from the previous game, PS:R is more based off of Plants vs Zombies, you fight against robots which damage your sentries on death. Only has one world so far, but one night has a fun minigame which I will not spoil.
thats like the three td games i know (i also know both critical tower defenses but i've seen them mentioned plenty)
i played tower heroes after the easter event, the game fell off for me because of the 1 month update that only adds a new map, skins and a new hero... it got tiring after a while to grind and do it again, and again, and again.

but i get where you're coming from with the grinding part, the difficulty on some maps is just downright frusturating and if one teamate makes a mistake it could cost you the game which i dislike, but that's only like 3 maps iirc

I personally am a fan of tower heroes and flavor frenzy. Both have very high quallity of both maps and towers and the artstile is unique.
I say that Tower blitz is the most polished td in the parts of enemies, being them flying and not hidden as most of td do, and most of the animations seems more natural like the enemies walk anim, towers animations, elite reloading when gets overheated, etc

my favorite tower defense game is tower battles. i can admit it doesn't have a lot and updates are rare, but it holds a special place for me due to getting me into the tower defense genre and all the entertainment it provided me from 2017 to now. while i like every tower defense game on this list (not all star tower defense) and appreciate what they do, tower battles started it all for me and kinda started it for the whole genre on roblox.
I do like tb but the quality makes it feel kinda boring, the rewards are not much and there’s only one mode. Planet should add Void2 for a harder mode in an update
Planet could revamp the maps so that there wouldn’t just be boring corners and the models would be tower size like on some maps in tds

It has very few players but in the beginning you can just solo basically everything. It has an amazing storyline and just I like almost everything about it. I'm sure you will like it too

the "weak visuals" on pixel gun tower defense is not actually accurate, the devs are actually replicating weapons and stuff from pg3d
I played pixel gun once or twice and I have to say the guns are 1 to 1, just look smaller because you can't seem em in first person lol.
I played all start tower defense. Got given an op tower as my first tower, and was wayyyy too easy
ngl CTD (Critical Tower Defence) is fairly decent, well made and is oretty unique. The only thing it lacks is updates but one of the most stood out features is how you can create your own coloured towers!
Try NPC Tower Defense, its a lower quality td game but it has cool events a small and chill player base and is easy to get good at. Rocketeer is actually really good, and hidden wave gives a special tower that's pretty good. One flaw of it is the maps as there is only one really good map and literally no one plays another map then Contaminated Castle.
Tower heroes is also pretty popular, and a very good one

All Star Tower defense used to be an alright game but eventually the game became very repetitive and towers got too overpowered without needing any more currency/unlocks, you just needed luck.
luck is a huge problem in ASTD along with its overpowered towers, which is all they add every update along with a new story mode map. they used to make original features and they still are but its very rare, very late game, very repetitive, very rng based, and very easy.

@@Nigthken69 accel isn’t op, it has slow Charging (so it forces u to use different towers for mid and early) and trash targeting which forces u to use other towers for late game. And what makes it ‘op’ is the commander and let’s not forget it’s randoms dps as well.

To be honest, Tds is my favorite game of all of these because it just feels a lot more clean and polished than most other games, sure the update schedule is a little bit wonky but they're also really high quality.

hey, co owner of pixel gun tower defense here and thanks for ranking PGTD as A tier, and I got to admit, some enemies do look mediocre, dw we will work on the visuals in the future

I like Cryptic Defense quite a bit. There's a lot of new unique features compared to other TD games but it feels like it's trying to be bigger than most, which can !wow the game confusing. I heard the next few updates will make the game more Linear, with more complex mechanics being unlocked to more experienced players. I'd give it an A.

It's a game me and my friends made back in 2019, but roblox updates completely ruined it. It's getting remade but do expect it to take a few years because me and my friends are going into college and really don't have much time lol

Tower battles is absolutely buggy, especially on mobile. It becomes really hard to place towers and even clicking on the towers won't bring up their menu. It's why I rarely play the game but overall I see this game having potential

What I don't get here is the espacialy in your comment, I've never had a problem with the PC version maybe with the mobile one but even that is more than playable.
it just depends on how well your computer runs
the game is extremely laggy the higher your ping and the lower your framerate is, but if you have a smooth 60fps and ping below 100 you should almost never encounter bugs
Man, i feel bad i played ASTD so much, i grinded so much im lvl 450 rn, and regret it, the only thing keeping me in the game was crazy numbers going up each update.
The game has way more flaws that what you mentioned.
It is not begginer friendly, but also isn't veteran friendly either, the main way of getting gems is the dmg task, which is limited and once you finish it you are poor forever, you can't get new towers anymore.
Theres no tower balancing, until a couple months ago when devs stoped making stronger and stronger towers each update, trying to balance thing out, but out of hundreds of towers a couple are good support and the rest is raw dps, the only difference is the amount of dps.
With so little diversity theres not alot of different strats like in tds, even tho there's hundreds of towers most of them just do the same but some just do better.
As a lvl 200+ with gold ranked in pvp, i agree 💀
Thats a flaw when making a TD game with gacha mechanic and having alot of towers that they didnt even try to balance

You should try playing tower heroes, it has alot of features including: money sharing, Pvp, shoulder pets etc.
I personally like CTD a lot. It's a good game with really unique features, and is quite fun to play through.
Ima be honest, u did a good job, but the flaw was youi played each game for like 5 minutes. On Astd a game i play a lot, there is skip wave feuture which allows u tro auto skip, extreme mode where enemies are a lot faster and have way more heatlth, and many events whioch take a lot of skill to beat. It is very beginner friendly as you can complete damge task very easily and recieve huge amounts fo gems to summon for whatever u want. U should play threse games more before judging them.
As an All Star Tower Defence pro, I can say that there are alot more features and strategies to the game. It is extremely easy to get started as there are regularly codes that can get you a few thousand gems to summon. This game also has regular updated content every two weeks. All this game takes really is basic knowledge. In the video the problem of how long it took was brought up although you can play the game up to 3x faster and auto-skip.

I'm my opinion I was off and on tower defence games but critical tower defence fairly new yet has origional idears and creative gameplay. There isn't alot to do in the game but the quests and perks for new towers is acturally quite engaging.
You should play critical tower defense it’s a really underrated tower defense game and is really fun even though it only gets 1k playing the enemy’s are so unique it definitely deserves more players

I like tower hero's a lot. Its cute and has different modes plus lots of skins you can get easily. The models are nicely made and it is beginner friendly so pretty good game :D

This is why I like all star tower defense or what has improved and that is that right now all star tower defense has a speed up feature where if you don't want to take long to finish a wave then you can speed up the enemies easier and plus if you like tds then you always like tds for the polished and great feature but bad thing about tds is that its takes days of grinding or grinding gems from a hard boss in hardcore and tds literally has alot of rng

Personally I think Tower battles would be a S tier for starting the whole tower defence making the whole genre happened if tower battles didn't happen none of the td games would be here. And tower battles still has it flaws like people leaving when they see a new person which is one of the many flaws of the game far from perfect.
A+ tier because yeah Planet has a lot of stuff irl, but it just seems like there's no motivation anymore to continue the game. Pretty balanced and fun to play even without updates tho

Me and my friends used to play a TD game called tower heroes it is really fun and I’d like to see it get included.
Idk about the best but ASTD is the worst, what a shit UI which hurts the eyes, what a shit concept of anime towers, and also mainly gambling which is not supposed to be in a TD game. Pretty bad game and the visuals, the enemy models, animations and much more stuff isn't even looked at as it looks so basic that a kid could create. A game doesn't only needs features but also clean UI, sounds and understandable stuff.

I’m adding my coin to the ring, Arena: Tower Defense, otherwise known as Woman Tower Defense.
Overall, the game is very polished. There’s really no bad tower, with most of them having specialties such as single target or AOE damage. There’s also Guardians, very powerful towers that upgrade themselves over time, all the way to lvl 15. You can only bring one guardian per load out though, so it balances out. The game also has a lot of modes and customization, along with Endless mode, which is actually really good as it doesn’t just repeat old zombies like you’d expect. The game doesn’t get updated that much, but when it does it has very good updates, like new skins, maps, quests, and other things. My biggest compliment toward the game is that while it’s not very beginner friendly, the game is not ptw. The only gamepass is VIP, which just increases daily coin awards and give a name tag. All towers are not really hard to get, and it’s easy to get some good starting towers with XP (XP is basically the coins of this game, coins are used for cosmetics). Overall I’d give the game an A tier. It’s definitely underrated for how fun it is, and I’ll still be grinding in the future.

you should definitely try realm rush tower defense. it’s insanely high quality
I play a lot of A LOT of astd(lvl 150+), but i still agree with the rating. Most of good stuff is really hard to get and the balancing is overall trash, characters like golden Frieza are worse than Shinobu. Without using codes the early game becomes a heck, you don't get enough gems to get good things and the banner X gives really bad towers.
There isn't a balance because astd is a tower defense that become more difficult with the updates so a tower that was added in the first updates can't be compared with a tower of one of the last updates

all star tower defense is pretty boring when youre first starting out. but it gets way better once you know how to work everything. i agree some of the games aspects and visuals are not high quality. lots of attacks from units are very, VERY nice looking and polished (cant say that for every unit though) and the summoning aspect of the game is pretty nice too

I think tower defnese simulator was good up until the hardcore mode. They nerfed so much characters and changed the models on everything. I quit after that and it has never been the same

TDS was changing from a more "side project in bedroom thing" to a "professional roblxo game" (professional in ROBLOX terms...).
Like Jailbreak, Piggy, Adopt Me!, Deepwoken, ETC.
They hired more people, updated the style, made it more polished.
HOWEVER, TDS is far from one of those "professional roblox games" as the bugs in the game are difficult to ignore, and it has long ways to go before it reaches its goal
That makes no sense to why you quit but ok I guess

You start a game in a baseplate
Then you choose a map
You can revote too. Factory is the best map
The game even has balloon enemies in normal mode

Pixel gun was probably the one i got addicted to the fastest, stopped playing cause updates started to stop and players also dropped
you should try tower battles tho its the least beginner friendly game it used to be beginner friendly but the devs buffed the enemies to much and nerfed the towers to much

Another upcoming tower defense is anime adventures which is basically more balanced polished and designed all star however follows the needing of luck to progress
Like in the 4th story I'd say the minimum requirements are a mythic farm starter and meta legend to have a chance

Try out ultimate tower defense, its very similar to all star cause it was kinda like a copy but it is very beginner friendly with the missions and the currency is easy to grind. Plus getting strong towers isn't hard since you only have to do some daily missions for a few days and use the codes to get top tier units.
No the game looks like it was made by a group of fivers and getting towers is a roulette wheel

Tower Battles is the mother of Tower Defense Games, it’s got a great community and is fun to play. A tier at most yes it lacks updates but so do many other fun games

Give Realm Rush: Tower Defense a chance. A very unique PVP mode in the tower defense games. A fun PVE mode as well. I would rank it in the top 5.
